1 Et David assembla à Jérusalem tous les princes d’Israël, les princes des tribus, et les capitaines des compagnies, qui servaient le roi, et les capitaines de milliers et les capitaines de centaines, et les intendants qui étaient sur tous les biens et les troupeaux du roi et de ses fils, ainsi que les officiers, et les hommes puissants, et tous les hommes de valeur.

 1 And David assembled all the princes of Israel, the princes of the tribes, and the captains of the companies that ministered to the king by course, and the captains over the thousands, and captains over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the officers, and with the mighty men, and with all the valiant men, unto Jerusalem.

2 Puis le roi David se leva sur ses pieds, et dit : Écoutez-moi, mes frères et mon peuple. Quant à moi, j’ai eu en mon cœur de bâtir une maison de repos pour l’arche de l’alliance du SEIGNEUR, et pour le marchepied de notre Dieu, et j’ai fait les préparatifs pour la construction.

 2 Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:

3 Mais Dieu m’a dit : Tu ne bâtiras pas une maison pour mon nom, parce que tu as été un homme de guerre, et tu as versé du sang.

 3 But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.

4 Cependant le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël, m’a choisi de toute la maison de mon père, pour être roi sur Israël à toujours ; car il a choisi Judah (Juda) pour être le conducteur, et, de la maison de Judah (Juda), la maison de mon père ; et parmi les fils de mon père, il a désiré me faire roi sur tout Israël ;

 4 Howbeit the LORD God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever: for he hath chosen Judah to be the ruler; and of the house of Judah, the house of my father; and among the sons of my father he liked me to make me king over all Israel:

5 Et de tous mes fils (car le SEIGNEUR m’a donné beaucoup de fils), il a choisi mon fils Salomon pour le faire asseoir sur le trône du royaume du SEIGNEUR, sur Israël.

 5 And of all my sons, (for the LORD hath given me many sons,) he hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of the LORD over Israel.

6 Et il m’a dit : Salomon, ton fils, c’est lui qui bâtira ma maison et mes cours ; car je me le suis choisi pour être mon fils, et je serai son père ;

 6 And he said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts: for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.

7 De plus j’affermirai son royaume à toujours, s’il est constant à pratiquer mes commandements et mes jugements, comme aujourd’hui.

 7 Moreover I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments, as at this day.

8 Maintenant donc, à la vue de tout Israël, la congrégation du SEIGNEUR, et en l’audience de notre Dieu, gardez et recherchez tous les commandements du SEIGNEUR, votre Dieu, afin que vous puissiez posséder ce bon pays, et que vous le laissiez en héritage pour vos enfants après vous, à toujours.

 8 Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the congregation of the LORD, and in the audience of our God, keep and seek for all the commandments of the LORD your God: that ye may possess this good land, and leave it for an inheritance for your children after you for ever.

9 ¶ Et toi, Salomon, mon fils, connais le Dieu de ton père, et sers-le avec un cœur parfait et un cerveau bien disposé ; car le SEIGNEUR sonde tous les cœurs, et connaît toutes les imaginations des pensées. Si tu le cherches, il se fera trouver de toi ; mais si tu l’abandonnes, il te rejettera à toujours.

 9 ¶ And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

10 Prends garde maintenant, car le SEIGNEUR t’a choisi pour bâtir une maison pour le sanctuaire ; sois fort, et fais-la.

 10 Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.

11 ¶ Puis David donna à Salomon, son fils, le modèle du porche et de ses maisons, et de ses trésoreries, et de ses chambres hautes, et de ses parloirs intérieurs, et du lieu du siège de miséricorde ;

 11 ¶ Then David gave to Solomon his son the pattern of the porch, and of the houses thereof, and of the treasuries thereof, and of the upper chambers thereof, and of the inner parlours thereof, and of the place of the mercy seat,

12 Et le modèle de toutes les choses qu’il avait reçues par l’esprit, pour les cours de la maison du SEIGNEUR, et pour toutes les chambres d’alentour, pour les trésoreries de la maison de Dieu, et pour les trésoreries des choses dédiées ;

 12 And the pattern of all that he had by the spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD, and of all the chambers round about, of the treasuries of the house of God, and of the treasuries of the dedicated things:

13 Ainsi que pour les classes des prêtres et des Lévites, et pour toute l’œuvre du service de la maison du SEIGNEUR, et pour tous les ustensiles du service de la maison du SEIGNEUR.

 13 Also for the courses of the priests and the Levites, and for all the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and for all the vessels of service in the house of the LORD.

14 Il lui donna l’or au poids pour les choses faites d’or, pour tous les ustensiles de chaque service ; de l’argent aussi, pour tous les ustensiles d’argent au poids, pour tous les ustensiles de chaque sorte de service.

 14 He gave of gold by weight for things of gold, for all instruments of all manner of service; silver also for all instruments of silver by weight, for all instruments of every kind of service:

15 Le poids des chandeliers d’or et de leurs lampes d’or, selon le poids de chaque chandelier et de ses lampes ; et pour les chandeliers d’argent selon le poids, pour chaque chandelier et aussi pour ses lampes, selon l’usage de chaque chandelier.

 15 Even the weight for the candlesticks of gold, and for their lamps of gold, by weight for every candlestick, and for the lamps thereof: and for the candlesticks of silver by weight, both for the candlestick, and also for the lamps thereof, according to the use of every candlestick.

16 Il lui donna l’or, au poids, pour les tables du pain de présentation, pour chaque table ; et de même l’argent pour les tables d’argent.

 16 And by weight he gave gold for the tables of shewbread, for every table; and likewise silver for the tables of silver:

17 Et de l’or pur pour les fourchettes, et les bols, et les coupes ; et pour les bassines d’or il donna de l’or au poids pour chaque bassine, et de même de l’argent au poids pour chaque bassine d’argent ;

 17 Also pure gold for the fleshhooks, and the bowls, and the cups: and for the golden basons he gave gold by weight for every bason; and likewise silver by weight for every bason of silver:

18 Et pour l’autel de l’encens, de l’or affiné au poids ; et de l’or pour le modèle du chariot des chérubins qui étendaient leurs ailes et couvraient l’arche de l’alliance du SEIGNEUR.

 18 And for the altar of incense refined gold by weight; and gold for the pattern of the chariot of the cherubims, that spread out their wings, and covered the ark of the covenant of the LORD.

19 Tout cela, dit David, le SEIGNEUR m’a fait comprendre, c’est-à-dire, tous les ouvrages de ce modèle, en écrivant par Sa main sur moi..

 19 All this, said David, the LORD made me understand in writing by his hand upon me, even all the works of this pattern.

20 Et David dit à Salomon, son fils : Sois fort et plein de courage et fais-Ie ; n’aie pas peur, et ne t’effraye pas ; car le SEIGNEUR Dieu, c’est-à-dire mon Dieu, sera avec toi il ne te laissera pas et ne t’abandonnera pas, jusqu’à ce que tout l’ouvrage pour le service de la maison du SEIGNEUR soit achevé.

 20 And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

21 Et voici les classes des prêtres et des Lévites, ils seront avec toi pour tout le service de la maison de Dieu ; et il y aura avec toi, pour toute espèce de main d’œuvre, tout homme disposé et habile, pour toutes sortes de service ; et les princes et tout le peuple seront entièrement à ton commandement.

 21 And, behold, the courses of the priests and the Levites, even they shall be with thee for all the service of the house of God: and there shall be with thee for all manner of workmanship every willing skilful man, for any manner of service: also the princes and all the people will be wholly at thy commandment.
