1 Or lorsque Salomon eut achevé de prier, le feu descendit du ciel et consuma l’offrande consumée et les sacrifices ; et la gloire du SEIGNEUR remplit la maison.

 1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.

2 Et les prêtres ne pouvaient entrer dans la maison du SEIGNEUR, parce que la gloire du SEIGNEUR avait rempli la maison du SEIGNEUR.

 2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD’S house.

3 Et quand tous les enfants d’Israël virent comment descendaient le feu et la gloire du SEIGNEUR sur la maison, ils se courbèrent, leurs visages contre terre, sur le pavé, et adorèrent, et louèrent le SEIGNEUR, disant : Car il est bon, car sa miséricorde demeure pour toujours.

 3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

4 ¶ Puis le roi et tout le peuple offraient des sacrifices devant le SEIGNEUR.

 4 ¶ Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the LORD.

5 Et le roi Salomon offrit un sacrifice de vingt-deux mille bœufs, et cent vingt mille moutons. Ainsi le roi et tout le peuple dédièrent la maison de Dieu.

 5 And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

6 Et les prêtres se tenaient à leurs charges, ainsi que les Lévites, avec les instruments de musique du SEIGNEUR, que le roi David avait faits pour louer le SEIGNEUR, parce que sa miséricorde demeure pour toujours, quand David louait par leur ministère ; et les prêtres sonnaient des trompettes en face d’eux, et tout Israël se tenait debout.

 6 And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.

7 De plus Salomon sanctifia le milieu de la cour, qui était devant la maison du SEIGNEUR ; car il offrit là les offrandes consumées et les graisses des offrandes de paix, parce que l’autel de bronze que Salomon avait fait ne pouvait recevoir les offrandes consumées, et les offrandes de nourriture et la graisse.

 7 Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brasen altar which Solomon had made was not able to receive the burnt offerings, and the meat offerings, and the fat.

8 ¶ Aussi en ce temps-là, Salomon célébra la fête pendant sept jours, et tout Israël avec lui, il y avait une très grande congrégation, depuis l’entrée d’Hamath jusqu’à la rivière d’Égypte.

 8 ¶ Also at the same time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt.

9 Et le huitième jour, ils tinrent une assemblée solennelle ; car ils firent la dédicace de l’autel pendant sept jours, et la fête pendant sept jours.

 9 And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

10 Et le vingt-troisième jour du septième mois, il renvoya le peuple dans ses tentes, joyeux et le cœur heureux, à cause de la bonté que le SEIGNEUR avait montrée à David, et à Salomon, et à Israël, son peuple.

 10 And on the three and twentieth day of the seventh month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and merry in heart for the goodness that the LORD had shewed unto David, and to Solomon, and to Israel his people.

11 Ainsi Salomon acheva la maison du SEIGNEUR et la maison du roi ; et tout ce que Salomon avait Reu à cœur de faire dans la maison du SEIGNEUR et dans sa propre maison, il effectua profitablement.

 11 Thus Solomon finished the house of the LORD, and the king’s house: and all that came into Solomon’s heart to make in the house of the LORD, and in his own house, he prosperously effected.

12 ¶ Et le SEIGNEUR apparut à Salomon de nuit, et lui dot : J’ai entendu ta prière, et je me suis choisi ce lieu pour une maison de sacrifice.

 12 ¶ And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.

13 Si je ferme le ciel, et qu’il n’y ait pas de pluie, et si je commande aux sauterelles de dévorer le pays, et si j’envoie la peste parmi mon peuple ;

 13 If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

14 Si mon peuple, lequel est appelé par mon nom, s’humilie, et prie, et cherche ma face, et se détourne de ses mauvais chemins, alors j’entendrai depuis le ciel, et je pardonnerai leur péché, et je guérirai leur pays.

 14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

15 Maintenant mes yeux seront ouverts, et mes oreilles attentives à la prière qu’on fera dans ce lieu.

 15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

16 Car maintenant j’ai choisi et sanctifié cette maison, afin que mon nom y soit pour toujours ; et mes yeux et mon cœur seront là à perpétuité.

 16 For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

17 Et quant à toi, si tu marches devant moi comme David, ton père, a marché, et faire tout ce que je t’ai commandé, et si tu observes mes statuts et mes jugements,

 17 And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments;

18 Alors j’affermirai le trône de ton royaume, selon que j’ai traité avec David, ton père, disant : Il ne te manquera pas un homme pour être gouverneur en Israël.

 18 Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.

19 Mais si vous vous détournez, et que vous abandonniez mes statuts et mes commandements que j’aimis devant vous, et que vous alliez et serviez d’autres dieux, et que vous les adoriez,

 19 But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them;

20 Alors je les arracherai par les racines de ma terre que je leur ai donnée, et cette maison que j’ai sanctifiée pour mon nom, je la rejetterai de devant moi et j’en ferai un proverbe et une risée parmi toutes les nations.

 20 Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.

21 Et cette maison, qui est si haut élevée, sera un étonnement à tout passant auprès d’elle, si bien qu’il dira : Pourquoi le SEIGNEUR a-t-il fait ainsi à ce pays et cette maison ?

 21 And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house?

22 Et on répondra : Parce qu’ils ont abandonné le SEIGNEUR Dieu de leurs pères, qui les fit sortir du pays d’Égypte, et qu’ils se sont attachés à d’autres dieux, et qu’ils les ont adorés, et les ont servis ; c’est pourquoi il a fait venir sur eux tout ce mal.

 22 And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.
