1 Et Sarah était âgée de cent vingt-sept ans: ce sont là les années de la vie de Sarah.
|
1 And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah.
|
2 Et Sarah mourut à Kirjath-arba ; celle-là est Hebron dans la terre de Canaa: et Abraham vint pour mener deuil sur Sarah, et pour la pleurer.
|
2 And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
|
3 ¶ Et Abraham se leva de devant son mort et parla aux fils de Heth, disant, ,
|
3 ¶ And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying,
|
4 Je suis un étranger et séjourne parmi vous: donnez-moi une possession d’une sépulture chez vous, afin que je puisse enterrer mon mort hors de ma vue de devant moi.
|
4 I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.
|
5 Et les enfants de Heth répondirent à Abraham, en lui disant,
|
5 And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him,
|
6 Écoute-nous, mon seigneur : tu es un puissant prince parmi nous : dans le meilleur de nos sépulcres enterre ton mort; aucun de nous ne te refusera son sépulcre, mais que tu puisses y enterrer ton mort.
|
6 Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.
|
7 Alors Abraham se leva et se courba devant le peuple du pays, c’est-à-dire devant les enfants de Heth.
|
7 And Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.
|
8 Et il s’entretint avec eux, disant, Si c’est votre pensée que j’enterre mon mort hors de ma vue, écoutez-moi, et sollicitez pour moi auprès d’Ephron, le fils de Zohar,
|
8 And he communed with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight; hear me, and intreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,
|
9 Afin qu’il me donne la caverne de Machpelah, laquelle est à lui, laquelle est au bout de son champ ; pour autant d’argent qu’elle vaut qu’il me la donne pour une possession d’une sépulture parmi vous.
|
9 That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me for a possession of a buryingplace amongst you.
|
10 Et Ephron demeurait parmi les enfants de Heth: et Ephron, le Hittite, répondit à Abraham à portée d’oreilles des enfants de Heth, à savoir de tous ceux qui entraient au portail de sa ville, disant, ,
|
10 And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,
|
11 Non, mon seigneur, écoute-moi: Je te donne le champ, et la caverne qui s’y trouve, je te les donne ; en présence des fils de mon peuple je te la donne: enterre ton mort.
|
11 Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead.
|
12 Et Abraham se courba devant le peuple du pays.
|
12 And Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the land.
|
13 Et il parla à Ephron aux oreilles du peuple du pays, disant, Mais si tu veux les donner, je te prie, écoute-moi: je veux te donner de l’argent pour le champ ; prends-le de moi et j’y enterrerai mon mort.
|
13 And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.
|
14 Et Ephron répondit à Abraham, lui disant, ,
|
14 And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him,
|
15 Mon seigneur, prête-moi attention : la terre vaut quatre cents shekels d’argent ; qu’est-ce que cela entre moi et toi ? Enterre donc ton mort.
|
15 My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.
|
16 Et Abraham prêta attention à Ephron ; et Abraham pesa à Ephron l’argent dont il avait parlé à portée d’oreilles des fils de Heth, quatre cents shekels d’argent, monnaie courante entre les marchands.
|
16 And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.
|
17 ¶ Et le champ d’Ephron, lequel était à Machpelah, lequel était devant Mamre, le champ, et la caverne, laquelle s’y trouvait, et tous les arbres qui étaient dans le champ, qui étaient dans toutes ses limites tout autour, furent assurés
|
17 ¶ And the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the borders round about, were made sure
|
18 À Abraham pour une possession en présence des enfants de Heth, devant tous ceux qui allaient au portail de sa ville.
|
18 Unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.
|
19 Et après cela, Abraham enterra Sarah sa femme dans la caverne du champ de Machpelah en face de Mamre: celle-là est Hebron, dans la terre de Canaan.
|
19 And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan.
|
20 Et le champ, et la caverne qui s’y trouve furent assurés à Abraham pour une possession d’une sépulture par les fils de Heth.
|
20 And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a buryingplace by the sons of Heth.
