1 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Descends dans la maison du roi de Juda, et y prononce cette parole.

 1 Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,

2 Et dis : Entends la parole du SEIGNEUR, ô roi de Juda, qui es assis sur le trône de David, toi, et tes serviteurs, et ton peuple, qui entrez par ces portes.

 2 And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:

3 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Exécutez jugement et rectitude, et délivrez celui qui est pillé de la main de l’oppresseur ; et ne faites aucun tort, n’usez d’aucune violence envers l’étranger, l’orphelin, et la veuve, et ne répandez pas le sang innocent dans ce lieu.

 3 Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

4 Car si vous mettez exactement en effet cette parole, alors les rois assis sur le trône de David entreront par les portes de cette maison, montés sur des chariots et sur des chevaux, lui, et ses serviteurs et son peuple.

 4 For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.

5 Mais si vous ne voulez pas entendre ces paroles, je jure par moi-même, dit le SEIGNEUR, que cette maison deviendra une désolation.

 5 But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.

6 Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR à la maison du roi de Juda : Tu es pour moi Gilead (Galaad), et le sommet du Liban ; mais certainement, je ferai de toi un désert, et des villes qui ne sont pas habitées.

 6 For thus saith the LORD unto the king’s house of Judah; Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.

7 Je prépare contre toi des destructeurs, chacun avec ses armes, qui couperont et jetteront au feu l’élite de tes cèdres.

 7 And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

8 Et beaucoup de nations passeront près de cette ville, et chacun dira à son voisin : Pourquoi le SEIGNEUR a-t-il fait ainsi à cette grande ville ?

 8 And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?

9 Et on répondra : Parce qu’ils ont abandonné l’alliance du SEIGNEUR leur Dieu, et qu’ils ont adoré d’autres dieux, et les ont servis.

 9 Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.

10 ¶ Ne pleurez pas pour le mort, et ne gémissez pas sur lui ; mais pleurez gravement pour celui qui s’en va ; car il ne reviendra plus, ni ne reverra le pays natal.

 10 ¶ Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.

11 Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR, au sujet de Shallum, le fils de Josiah (Josias), roi de Juda, qui régna à la place de Josiah, son père, qui est sorti de ce lieu : Il n’y retournera plus ;

 11 For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of Josiah king of Judah, which reigned instead of Josiah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more:

12 Mais il mourra dans le lieu où on l’a emmené captif, et ne verra plus ce pays.

 12 But he shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and shall see this land no more.

13 ¶ Malheur à celui qui bâtit sa maison par l’injustce, et ses chambres sans rectitude, qui se sert de son voisin sans le payer, et ne lui donne rien pour son travail ;

 13 ¶ Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour’s service without wages, and giveth him not for his work;

14 Qui dit : Je me bâtirai une vaste maison, et de spacieuses chambres, et qui y perce des fenêtres ; et elle est lambrissée de cèdre, et peine de vermillon.

 14 That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.

15 Régneras-tu, parce que tu t’enfermes dans du cèdre ? Ton père n’a-t-il pas mangé et bu et fait jugement et justice, et alors bien lui est venu ?

 15 Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?

16 Il jugea la cause du pauvre et du nécessiteux ; alors bien lui est venu. Cela n’était-ce pas me connaître ? dit le SEIGNEUR.

 16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the LORD.

17 Mais tes yeux et ton cœur ne sont que pour ta convoitise, et pour répandre le sang innocent, et à l’oppression et à la violence pour les faire.

 17 But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

18 C’est pourquoi, ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR, au sujet de Jehoiakim, (Jéhojakim) le fils de Josiah, roi de Juda : On ne se lamentera pas pour lui, disant : Ah, mon frère ; ah, ma sœur ! On ne se lamentera pas pour lui, disant : Ah, seigneur ! Et ah, sa gloire !

 18 Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!

19 Il sera enterré comme on enterre un âne ; il sera traîné et jeté hors des portes de Jérusalem.

 19 He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.

20 ¶ Monte au Liban, et crie ; et élève ta voix en Bashan ; et crie depuis les passages : Car tous tes amoureux sont détruits.

 20 ¶ Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed.

21 Je t’ai parlé dans ta prospérité ; mais tu as dit : Je ne veux pas entendre. Cela a été ta façon d’agir depuis ta jeunesse, tu n’as pas obéi à ma voix.

 21 I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.

22 Le vent se nourrira de tous tes pasteurs, et tes amoureux iront en captivité ; certainement alors tu seras honteuse et confuse, à cause de toute ta malice.

 22 The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.

23 Ô habitante du Liban, qui fais ton nid dans les cèdres, combien seras-tu gracieuse quand te surviendront les douleurs, la souffrance comme à la femme en travail !

 23 O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!

24 Aussi vrai que je suis vivant, dit le SEIGNEUR ; même si Coniah (Chonia), le fils de Jehoiakim, roi de Juda, serait un cachet à ma main droite, je t’arracherais de là ;

 24 As I live, saith the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence;

25 Je te livrerai en la main de ceux qui cherchent ta vie, et en la main de ceux dont le visage te fait peur, même en la main de Nebuchadrezzar (Nebuchadnezzar), roi de Babylone , et en la main des Chaldéens.

 25 And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

26 Je te jetterai, toi et ta mère qui t’a enfanté, dans un autre pays où vous n’êtes pas nés, et c’est là que vous mourrez.

 26 And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.

27 Mais quant au pays où ils désirent retourner, ils n’y retourneront pas.

 27 But to the land whereunto they desire to return, thither shall they not return.

28 Cet homme Coniah, est-il une idole méprisée et brisée ? Est-il un vase auquel il n’y a aucun plaisir ? Pourquoi sont-ils jetés, lui et sa semence, et lancés dans un pays qu’ils ne connaissent pas ?

 28 Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?

29 Ô terre, terre, terre, entends la parole du SEIGNEUR.

 29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

30 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Écrivez cet homme dénué d’enfants, un homme qui ne prospérera pas dans ses jours ; car aucun homme de sa semence ne prospérera, étant assis sur le trône de David, et dominant encore en Juda.

 30 Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.
