1 Au commencement du règne de Jehoiakim, le fils de Josiah, roi de Juda, cette parole du SEIGNEUR vint à Jeremiah (Jérémie), disant :

 1 In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

2 Ainsi me dit le SEIGNEUR : Fais-toi des liens et des jougs, et mets-les sur ton cou ;

 2 Thus saith the LORD to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck,

3 Et envoie-les au roi d’Edom, et au roi de Moab, et au roi des enfants d’Ammon, et au roi de Tyre (Tyr), et au roi de Sidon, par la main de messagers qui viennent à Jérusalem, vers Zedekiah (Sédécias), roi de Juda .

 3 And send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the Ammonites, and to the king of Tyrus, and to the king of Zidon, by the hand of the messengers which come to Jerusalem unto Zedekiah king of Judah;

4 Et commande-leur de dire à leurs maîtres : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d’Israël : Vous direz ainsi à vos maîtres :

 4 And command them to say unto their masters, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say unto your masters;

5 J’ai fait la terre, l’homme et la bête qui sont sur la terre, par ma grande puissance et par mon bras étendu ; et je l’ai donnée à qui bon me semble.

 5 I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my outstretched arm, and have given it unto whom it seemed meet unto me.

6 Et maintenant, j’ai livré tous ces pays entre la main de Nebuchadnezzar, le roi de Babylone , mon serviteur ; et je lui ai aussi donné les bêtes des champs, pour le servir.

 6 And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him.

7 Et toutes les nations le serviront et son fils, et le fils de son fils, jusqu’à ce que vienne le temps de son pays aussi, et que beaucoup de nations et de grands rois l’asservissent.

 7 And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son’s son, until the very time of his land come: and then many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of him.

8 Et il arrivera que la nation ou le royaume qui ne s’asservira pas à ce même Nebuchadnezzar, roi de Babylone, et qui ne voudra pas mettre son cou au joug du roi de Babylone, je punirai cette nation-là, dit le SEIGNEUR, par l’épée, par la famine et par la pestilence, jusqu’à ce que je les aie consumés par sa main.

 8 And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.

9 C’est pourquoi vous, n’écoutez pas vos prophètes, ni vos devins, ni vos rêveurs, ni vos pronostiqueurs, ni vos sorciers qui vous parlent, disant : Vous ne servirez pas le roi de Babylone.

 9 Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to your diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your sorcerers, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon:

10 Car ils vous prophétisent le mensonge, pour vous ôter loin de votre pays, et afin que je vous en chasse et que vous périssiez.

 10 For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land; and that I should drive you out, and ye should perish.

11 Mais les nations qui mettront leur cou sous le joug du roi de Babylone et le serviront, celles-là je les laisserai dans leur pays, dit le SEIGNEUR, et elles le cultiveront et y demeureront.

 11 But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.

12 ¶ Je parlai aussi à Zedekiah (Sédécias), roi de Juda, selon toutes ces paroles, disant : Soumettez-vous vos cous sous le joug du roi de Babylone, et servez-le, lui et son peuple, et vous vivrez.

 12 ¶ I spake also to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.

13 Pourquoi mourriez-vous, toi et ton peuple, par l’épée, par la famine et par la pestilence, comme le SEIGNEUR a parlé au sujet de la nation qui ne servirait pas le roi de Babylone ?

 13 Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the LORD hath spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?

14 C’est pourquoi n’écoutez pas les paroles des prophètes qui vous parlent, disant : Vous ne servirez pas le roi de Babylone : car ils vous prophétisent le mensonge.

 14 Therefore hearken not unto the words of the prophets that speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you.

15 Car je ne les ai pas envoyés, dit le SEIGNEUR, et ils prophétisent un mensonge en mon nom, afin que je vous chasse et que vous périssiez, vous et les prophètes qui vous prophétisent.

 15 For I have not sent them, saith the LORD, yet they prophesy a lie in my name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye, and the prophets that prophesy unto you.

16 Je parlai aussi aux prêtres et à tout ce peuple, disant : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : N’écoutez pas les paroles de vos prophètes, qui vous prophétisent, disant : Voici, les ustensiles de la maison du SEIGNEUR seront bientôt rapportés de Babylone : car ils vous prophétisent un mensonge.

 16 Also I spake to the priests and to all this people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Hearken not to the words of your prophets that prophesy unto you, saying, Behold, the vessels of the LORD’S house shall now shortly be brought again from Babylon: for they prophesy a lie unto you.

17 Ne les écoutez pas ; servez le roi de Babylone et vous vivrez ; pourquoi cette ville deviendrait-elle dévastée ?

 17 Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city be laid waste?

18 Mais s’ils sont prophètes et si la parole du SEIGNEUR est avec eux, qu’ils intercèdent maintenant auprès du SEIGNEUR des armées afin que les ustensiles qui sont restés dans la maison du SEIGNEUR et dans la maison du roi de Juda et à Jérusalem, n’aillent pas à Babylone.

 18 But if they be prophets, and if the word of the LORD be with them, let them now make intercession to the LORD of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.

19 ¶ Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, au sujet des colonnes, et au sujet de la mer, et au sujet des soubassements, et au sujet du reste des ustensiles qui sont restés dans cette ville,

 19 ¶ For thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that remain in this city,

20 Lesquels Nebuchadnezzar, roi de Babylone, n’a pas pris quand il a emmené captif de Jérusalem à Babylone Jeconiah (Jéchonias), le fils de Jehoiakim, roi de Juda, ainsi que tous les nobles de Juda et de Jérusalem ;

 20 Which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;

21 Oui, ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d’Israël, au sujet des ustensiles qui restent dans la maison du SEIGNEUR, et dans la maison du roi de Juda, et à Jérusalem :

 21 Yea, thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the LORD, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem;

22 Ils seront emportés à Babylone, et ils y resteront jusqu’au jour où je les visiterai, dit le SEIGNEUR, puis, je les ferai remonter, et revenir en ce lieu.

 22 They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day that I visit them, saith the LORD; then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
