1 Rassemblez-vous, oui, rassemblez-vous, ô nation non désirable ;

 1 Gather yourselves together, yea, gather together, O nation not desired;

2 Avant que le décret enfante, avant que le jour passe comme la paille ; avant que le violent courroux du SEIGNEUR vienne sur vous, avant que le jour du courroux du SEIGNEUR vienne sur vous.

 2 Before the decree bring forth, before the day pass as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’S anger come upon you.

3 Cherchez le SEIGNEUR, vous tous les dociles du pays, qui avez exécuté son jugement ; recherchez la rectitude, recherchez la docilité ; peut-être serez-vous cachés, au jour du courroux du SEIGNEUR.

 3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’S anger.

4 ¶ Car Gaza sera abandonnée, et Ashkelon (Askélon) sera une désolation ; on chassera Ashdod (Asdod ) en plein midi, et Ekron sera déracinée.

 4 ¶ For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.

5 Malheur aux habitants de la côte maritime, la nation des Cherethites (Keréthiens) ! la parole du SEIGNEUR est contre vous, ô Canaan, terre des Philistins, je te détruirai, si bien que personne n’y habitera.

 5 Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD is against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

6 Et la côte maritime sera des pâturages, et des huttes pour les bergers et des parcs pour les troupeaux.

 6 And the sea coast shall be dwellings and cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.

7 Et la côte sera pour le reste de la maison de Judah (Juda), et ils y paîtront ; le soir, ils se coucheront dans les maisons d’Ashkelon (Askélon), car le SEIGNEUR leur Dieu les visitera, et ramènera leur captivité.

 7 And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.

8 ¶ J’ai entendu l’outrage de Moab et les insultes des enfants d’Ammon, par lesquelles ils ont outragé mon peuple, et l’ont bravé sur leur frontière.

 8 ¶ I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, whereby they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.

9 C’est pourquoi, aussi vrai que je vis, dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d’Israël, Moab sera comme Sodome, et les enfants d’Ammon comme Gomorrah (Gomorrhe), c’est-à-dire une prolifération d’orties, des carrières de sel, une désolation perpétuelle ; le reste de mon peuple les pillera, et le reste de mon peuple les possédera.

 9 Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.

10 Ceci leur arrivera à cause de leur orgueil, parce qu’ils ont outragé et se sont élevés contre le peuple du SEIGNEUR des armées.

 10 This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts.

11 Le SEIGNEUR sera terrible contre eux ; car il fera mourir de faim tous les dieux de la terre, et chacun l’adorera en son lieu, et même toutes les îles des païens.

 11 The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.

12 ¶ Vous aussi, Éthiopiens, vous serez tués par mon épée.

 12 ¶ Ye Ethiopians also, ye shall be slain by my sword.

13 Il étendra sa main vers le Nord, et il détruira l’Assyrie ; et fera de Ninive une désolation, et un lieu aride comme le désert.

 13 And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, and dry like a wilderness.

14 Les troupeaux se coucheront au milieu d’elle, et toutes les bêtes des nations ; le cormoran et le butor logeront parmi ses linteaux ; leur voix résonnera aux fenêtres ; la désolation sera sur le seuil, parce qu’il aura dénudé les lambris de cèdre.

 14 And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows; desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.

15 C’est là cette ville joyeuse qui demeurait insouciante, qui disait en son cœur : Je le suis, et il n’y en a pas d’autre que moi. Comment est-elle devenue une désolation, un lieu dans lequel les bêtes se couchent ! Quiconque passe près d’elle, sifflera et agitera sa main.

 15 This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.
