1 Et après que le tumulte eut cessé, Paul appela vers lui les disciples, et les serra dans ses bras, et partit pour aller en Macédoine.

 1 And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia.

2 Et lorsqu’il eut traversé ces sections, et qu’il leur eut donné beaucoup d’exhortation, il vint en Grèce,

 2 And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece,

3 Et il y demeura trois mois. Et lorsque les Juifs lui dressèrent des embûches, comme il allait faire voile vers la Syrie, il se proposa de revenir à travers la Macédoine.

 3 And there abode three months. And when the Jews laid wait for him, as he was about to sail into Syria, he purposed to return through Macedonia.

4 Et il fut accompagné jusqu’en Asie par Sopater de Bérée; et parmi les Thessaloniciens, Aristarque et Second; et Gaïus de Derbe, et Timothée; et par Tychique et Trophime, d’Asie.

 4 And there accompanied him into Asia Sopater of Berea; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timotheus; and of Asia, Tychicus and Trophimus.

5 Ceux-ci étant allés devant, nous attendirent à Troas.

 5 These going before tarried for us at Troas.

6 Et nous fîmes voile de Philippes après les jours des pains sans levain, et en cinq jours sommes venus vers eux à Troas; où nous sommes restés sept jours.

 6 And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread, and came unto them to Troas in five days; where we abode seven days.

7 Et le premier jour de la semaine, quand les disciples s’étaient assemblés pour rompre le pain, Paul prêcha devant eux, prêt à partir le lendemain; et il continua son discours jusqu’à minuit.

 7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.

8 Et il y avait beaucoup de lampes dans la chambre en haut, où ils étaient assemblés.

 8 And there were many lights in the upper chamber, where they were gathered together.

9 Et un certain jeune homme, nommé Eutyche, était assis sur la fenêtre, étant tombé dans un profond sommeil: et comme Paul prêchait longtemps, il s’affaissa endormi, et tomba à terre du troisième étage, et fut relevé mort.

 9 And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead.

10 Et Paul descendit, et se pencha sur lui, et le prenant dans ses bras dit: Ne vous troublez pas; car sa vie est en lui.

 10 And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him.

11 Quand il fut donc remonté, et eut rompu le pain, et mangé, et parlé longtemps, même jusqu’au point du jour, ainsi il partit.

 11 When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed.

12 Et ils amenèrent le jeune homme vivant, et ils ne furent pas peu consolés.

 12 And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted.

13 ¶ Et nous avons pris les devants sur le bateau et avons fait voile vers Assos, où nous avions l’intention de prendre Paul: car il l’avait ainsi déterminé, ayant l’intention de faire le chemin à pied.

 13 ¶ And we went before to ship, and sailed unto Assos, there intending to take in Paul: for so had he appointed, minding himself to go afoot.

14 Et quand il nous eut rejoints à Assos, nous l’avons pris et sommes venus à Mytilène.

 14 And when he met with us at Assos, we took him in, and came to Mitylene.

15 Et nous avons fait voile de là, et sommes venus le lendemain face à Chios; et le jour suivant nous sommes arrivés à Samos, et nous sommes attardés à Trogylle; et le jour suivant nous sommes venus à Milet.

 15 And we sailed thence, and came the next day over against Chios; and the next day we arrived at Samos, and tarried at Trogyllium; and the next day we came to Miletus.

16 Car Paul était déterminé de faire voile au large d’Éphèse, parce qu’il ne voulait pas passer de temps en Asie: car il se hâtait, si cela lui était possible, d’être à Jérusalem, le jour de la Pentecôte.

 16 For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

17 ¶ Et il envoya de Milet à Éphèse, et fit appeler les anciens de l’église.

 17 ¶ And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

18 Et lorsqu’ils furent venus à lui, il leur dit: Vous savez, depuis le premier jour que je suis entré en Asie, de quelle manière je me suis conduit en tout temps avec vous,

 18 And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

19 Servant le Seigneur en toute humilité de pensée, et avec beaucoup de larmes et de tentations, lesquelles me sont survenues par les embûches des Juifs:

 19 Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

20 Et comment je n’ai rien retenu de ce qui vous était profitable, mais je vous ai montré et vous ai enseigné publiquement, et de maison en maison,

 20 And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,

21 Témoignant et aux Juifs et aussi aux Grecs, la repentance envers Dieu, et la foi envers notre Seigneur Jésus Christ.

 21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

22 Et maintenant, voici, je vais lié en l’esprit vers Jérusalem, ne sachant pas les choses qui m’y surviendront:

 22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

23 Sinon que l’Esprit Saint témoigne dans chaque ville, disant que des liens et des afflictions m’attendent.

 23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

24 Mais aucune de ces choses ne m’émeut, je ne considère pas non plus ma vie comme m’étant chère, de sorte que je puisse achever ma course avec joie et le ministère que j’ai reçu du Seigneur Jésus, pour attester de l’évangile de la grâce de Dieu.

 24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

25 Et maintenant, voici, je sais que vous tous, parmi lesquels je suis passé en prêchant le royaume de Dieu, ne verrez plus mon visage.

 25 And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.

26 C’est pourquoi je vous atteste aujourd’hui, que je suis pur du sang de tous les hommes.

 26 Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.

27 Car je n’ai pas évité de vous déclarer tout le conseil de Dieu.

 27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

28 ¶ Prenez donc garde à vous-mêmes, et à tout le troupeau, sur lequel l’Esprit Saint vous a établis surveillants, de nourrir l’église de Dieu, qu’il a acquise par son propre sang.

 28 ¶ Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

29 Car je sais ceci, qu’après mon départ, des loups redoutables s’introduiront parmi vous, qui n’épargneront pas le troupeau.

 29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

30 Aussi parmi vous-mêmes s’élèveront des hommes, parlant de choses perverses, pour attirer des disciples après eux.

 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

31 Par conséquent veillez, et souvenez-vous, que durant trois ans je n’ai cessé d’avertir nuit et jour chacun de vous avec larmes.

 31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

32 Et maintenant, frères, je vous recommande à Dieu et à la parole de sa grâce, laquelle est capable de vous édifier et de vous donner un patrimoine parmi tous ceux qui sont sanctifiés.

 32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

33 Je n’ai convoité ni l’argent d’aucun homme, ni l’or, ni tenue vestimentaire.

 33 I have coveted no man’s silver, or gold, or apparel.

34 Oui, vous, vous-mêmes savez que ces mains ont servi à mes besoins, et à ceux qui étaient avec moi.

 34 Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

35 Je vous ai montré toutes choses, comment en besognant ainsi vous devez soutenir les faibles, et vous souvenir des paroles du Seigneur Jésus, comment il a dit: Donner est une plus grande bénédiction que de recevoir.

 35 I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

36 ¶ Et quand il eut ainsi parlé, il s’agenouilla, et pria avec eux tous.

 36 ¶ And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.

37 Et tous pleurèrent beaucoup, et se jetèrent au cou de Paul, et l’embrassèrent,

 37 And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neck, and kissed him,

38 Étant affligés surtout par les paroles qu’il avait dites, qu’ils ne verraient plus son visage. Et ils l’accompagnèrent jusqu’au bateau.

 38 Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.
