1 Les fils de Judah (Juda) (Juda) : Pharez (Pérets), Hezron (Hetsron), et Carmi, et Hur et Shobal.

 1 The sons of Judah; Pharez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.

2 Et Reaiah, le fils de Shobal, engendra Jahath ; et Jahath engendra Ahumai et Lahad. Ce sont les familles des Zorathites (Tsoreathiens).

 2 And Reaiah the son of Shobal begat Jahath; and Jahath begat Ahumai, and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites.

3 Et ceux-ci étaient issus du père d’Etam : Jezreel (Jizréel), et Ishma (Jishma) et Idbash (Jidbash) ; et le nom de leur sœur était Hazelelponi (Hatsélelponi) ;

 3 And these were of the father of Etam; Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash: and the name of their sister was Hazelelponi:

4 Et Penuel, le père de Gedor, et Ezer, le père de Hushah. Ce sont là les fils de Hur, le premier-né d’Ephratah, le père de Bethléhem.

 4 And Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratah, the father of Bethlehem.

5 ¶ Et Ashur, le père de Tekoa, eut deux femmes Helah (Héléa) et Naarah (Naara).

 5 ¶ And Ashur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.

6 Et Naarah lui enfanta Ahuzam, et Hepher, et Temeni et Haahashtari. Ce sont là les fils de Naarah.

 6 And Naarah bare him Ahuzam, and Hepher, and Temeni, and Haahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.

7 Et les fils de Helah étaient Zereth (Tséreth), et Jezoar et Ethnan.

 7 And the sons of Helah were, Zereth, and Jezoar, and Ethnan.

8 Et Coz (Kots) engendra Anub et Zobebah (Tsobéba), et les familles d’Aharhel, le fils d’Harum.

 8 And Coz begat Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.

9 ¶ Et Jabez était plus estimé que ses frères ; et sa mère l’avait appelé du nom de Jabez, disant : Parce que je l’ai enfanté avec douleur.

 9 ¶ And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow.

10 Et Jabez appela le Dieu d’Israël, disant : Oh si tu voulais vraiment me bénir et agrandir mon territoire ; et que ta main puisse être avec moi, et si tu voulais me préserver du mal, en sorte que je ne sois pas affligé ! Et Dieu lui accorda ce qu’il avait demandé.

 10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.

11 ¶ Et Chelub (Kélub,), le frère de Shuah, engendra Mehir, qui était le père d’Eshton.

 11 ¶ And Chelub the brother of Shuah begat Mehir, which was the father of Eshton.

12 Et Eshton engendra Bethrapha (Beth-Rapha), et Paseah (Paséakh), et Tehinnah (Théchinna), le père de Irnahash (Nachash). Ce sont là les hommes de Rechah (Réca).

 12 And Eshton begat Bethrapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Irnahash. These are the men of Rechah.

13 Et les fils de Kenaz : Othniel et Seraiah ; et les fils d’Othniel : Hathath.

 13 And the sons of Kenaz; Othniel, and Seraiah: and the sons of Othniel; Hathath.

14 Et Meonothai engendra Ophrah ; et Seraiah engendra Joab, le père de la vallée des Charashim ; car ils étaient artisans.

 14 And Meonothai begat Ophrah: and Seraiah begat Joab, the father of the valley of Charashim; for they were craftsmen.

15 Et les fils de Caleb, le fils de Jephunneh (Jéphunné): Iru, Elah et Naam, et les fils d’Elah, Kenaz.

 15 And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh; Iru, Elah, and Naam: and the sons of Elah, even Kenaz.

16 Et les fils de Jehaleleel : Ziph, et Ziphah, Tiria et Asareel.

 16 And the sons of Jehaleleel; Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asareel.

17 Et les fils d’Ezra (Esdras) étaient Jether, et Mered, et Epher et Jalon ; et elle enfanta Miriam, et Shammai, et Ishbah, le père d’Eshtemoa.

 17 And the sons of Ezra were, Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon: and she bare Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa.

18 Et sa femme Jehudijah enfanta Jered, le père de Gedor (Guedor), et Heber, le père de Socho (Soco), et Jekuthiel, le père de Zanoah. Et ceux-là sont les fils de Bithiah, la fille de Pharaon, que Mered prit pour femme.

 18 And his wife Jehudijah bare Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Socho, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah. And these are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh, which Mered took.

19 Et les fils de sa femme Hodiah (Hodija), la sœur de Naham le père de Keilah, le Garmite (Garmien), et Eshtemoa, le Maachathite (Maacathien).

 19 And the sons of his wife Hodiah the sister of Naham, the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maachathite.

20 Et les fils de Shimon étaient Amnon, et Rinnah (Rinna), Benhanan (Ben-Hanan) et Tilon. Et les fils d’Ishi étaient Zoheth et Benzoheth.

 20 And the sons of Shimon were, Amnon, and Rinnah, Benhanan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi were, Zoheth, and Benzoheth.

21 ¶ Et les fils de Shelah, le fils de Judah (Juda) (Juda) étaient Er, le père de Lecah, et Laadah, le père de Mareshah, et les familles de la maison de ceux qui travaillaient le lin fin, de la maison d’Ashbea,

 21 ¶ The sons of Shelah the son of Judah were, Er the father of Lecah, and Laadah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbea,

22 Et Jokim, et les hommes de Chozeba (Cozéba), et Joash (Joas) et Saraph, qui avaient la domination sur Moab, et Jashubilehem (Jashubi‑Léchem). Et ce sont des choses anciennes.

 22 And Jokim, and the men of Chozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had the dominion in Moab, and Jashubilehem. And these are ancient things.

23 C’étaient les potiers et ceux qui demeuraient parmi les plantations et les haies ; ils demeuraient là auprès du roi pour son ouvrage.

 23 These were the potters, and those that dwelt among plants and hedges: there they dwelt with the king for his work.

24 ¶ Les fils de Simeon étaient Nemuel, et Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, et Shaul (Saül) ;

 24 ¶ The sons of Simeon were, Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerah, and Shaul:

25 Shallum, son fils, Mibsam, son fils, et Mishma, son fils.

 25 Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.

26 Et les fils de Mishma : Hamuel, son fils ; Zacchur, son fils ; Shimei, son fils.

 26 And the sons of Mishma; Hamuel his son, Zacchur his son, Shimei his son.

27 Et Shimei eut seize fils et six filles ; mais ses frères n’eurent pas beaucoup d’enfants, et toutes leurs familles ne se multiplièrent pas autant que les enfants de Judah (Juda) (Juda).

 27 And Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brethren had not many children, neither did all their family multiply, like to the children of Judah.

28 Et ils demeurèrent à Beersheba (Beër-Sheba), et à Moladah, et à Hazarshual (Hatsar‑Shual),

 28 And they dwelt at Beersheba, and Moladah, and Hazarshual,

29 Et à Bilhah, et à Ezem (Etsem), et à Tolad (Tholad),

 29 And at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad,

30 Et à Bethuel, et à Hormah, et à Ziklag (Tsiklag),

 30 And at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag,

31 Et à Bethmarcaboth (Beth‑Marcaboth), et à Hazarsusim (Hatsar-Susim) , et à Bethbirei (Beth-Biri) et à Shaaraim. Ce furent leurs villes jusqu’au règne de David.

 31 And at Bethmarcaboth, and Hazarsusim, and at Bethbirei, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities unto the reign of David.

32 Et leurs villages furent Etam, et Ain, Rimmon, et Tochen (Thoken) et Ashan, cinq villes ;

 32 And their villages were, Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities:

33 Et tous leurs villages, qui étaient autour de ces villes, jusqu’à Baal. C’étaient leurs habitations et leur généalogie.

 33 And all their villages that were round about the same cities, unto Baal. These were their habitations, and their genealogy.

34 Et Meshobab, et Jamlech, et Joshah, le fils d’Amaziah (Amatsia) ;

 34 And Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah,

35 Et Joël, et Jehu, le fils de Josibiah, le fils de Seraiah, le fils d’Asiel ;

 35 And Joel, and Jehu the son of Josibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel,

36 Et Elioenai, et Jaakobah, et Jeshohaiah, et Asaiah, et Adiel, et Jesimiel, et Benaiah ;

 36 And Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshohaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah,

37 Et Ziza, le fils de Shiphi, le fils d’Allon, le fils de Jedaiah, le fils de Shimri, le fils de Shemaiah.

 37 And Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah;

38 Ceux-là, mentionnés par leurs noms, étaient princes dans leurs familles, et la maison de leurs pères s’accrut beaucoup.

 38 These mentioned by their names were princes in their families: and the house of their fathers increased greatly.

39 ¶ Et ils allèrent à l’entrée de Gedor, c’est-à-dire jusqu’au côté est de la vallée, pour chercher des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.

 39 ¶ And they went to the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.

40 Et ils trouvèrent des pâturages gras et bons, et le pays était spacieux, et tranquille et paisible ; car ceux qui étaient demeurés là auparavant étaient de Ham (Cham).

 40 And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they of Ham had dwelt there of old.

41 Et ceux-ci écrits par noms, vinrent aux jours d’Hezekiah (Ézéchias), roi de Judah (Juda) (Juda), et ils frappèrent leurs tentes et les habitations qui se trouvaient là, et les détruisirent entièrement jusqu’à ce jour, et ils demeurèrent à leur place, parce qu’il y avait là des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.

 41 And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because there was pasture there for their flocks.

42 Et quelques-uns d’entre eux, des fils de Simeon, cinq-cents hommes, allèrent au mont Seir, ayant pour leurs capitaines Pelatiah, et Neariah, et Rephaiah et Uzziel, les fils d’Ishi.

 42 And some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.

43 Et ils frappèrent le reste des Amalekites qui s’étaient échappés, et ils sont demeurés là jusqu’à ce jour.

 43 And they smote the rest of the Amalekites that were escaped, and dwelt there unto this day.
