1 Or les fils de Reuben (Ruben), le premier-né d’Israël (car il était le premier-né ; mais parce qu’il avait souillé le lit de son père, son droit d’aînesse fut donné aux fils de Joseph, le fils d’Israël ; et la généalogie ne sera pas reconnue selon le droit d’aînesse.

 1 Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father’s bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.

2 Car Judah (Juda) (Juda) prévalut sur ses frères, et de lui est sorti le principal dirigeant ; mais le droit d’aînesse était à Joseph).

 2 For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph’s:)

3 Les fils dis-je, de Reuben (Ruben), le premier-né d’Israël étaient Hanoch (Hénoc), et Pallu, Hezron (Hetsron) et Carmi.

 3 The sons, I say, of Reuben the firstborn of Israel were, Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

4 Les fils de Joël : Shemaiah, son fils, Gog, son fils, Shimei, son fils,

 4 The sons of Joel; Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,

5 Micah, son fils, Reaia, son fils, Baal, son fils,

 5 Micah his son, Reaia his son, Baal his son,

6 Beerah, son fils, que Tilgathpilneser(Tilgath-Pilnéser), roi d’Assyrie, emmena captif ; lui était prince des Reubenites (Rubénites).

 6 Beerah his son, whom Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria carried away captive: he was prince of the Reubenites.

7 Et ses frères, selon leurs familles, quand la généalogie de leurs générations fut comptée, avaient pour chefs Jeiel, et Zechariah (Zacharie) ;

 7 And his brethren by their families, when the genealogy of their generations was reckoned, were the chief, Jeiel, and Zechariah,

8 Et Bela, le fils d’Azaz, le fils de Shema, le fils de Joël, lui demeurait à Aroer, et jusqu’à Nebo et Baalmeon (Baal-Méon) ;

 8 And Bela the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, who dwelt in Aroer, even unto Nebo and Baalmeon:

9 Et vers l’Est, il habitait jusqu’à l’entrée du désert, depuis la rivière Euphrate, parce que son bétail s’était multiplié dans le pays de Gilead (Galaad).

 9 And eastward he inhabited unto the entering in of the wilderness from the river Euphrates: because their cattle were multiplied in the land of Gilead.

10 Et aux jours de Saul (Saül), ils firent la guerre aux Hagarites (Hagaréniens), qui tombèrent par leur main ; et ils demeurèrent dans leurs tentes, dans tout le pays à l’est de Gilead (Galaad).

 10 And in the days of Saul they made war with the Hagarites, who fell by their hand: and they dwelt in their tents throughout all the east land of Gilead.

11 ¶ Et les enfants de Gad demeurèrent en face d’eux dans le pays de Bashan, jusqu’à Salcah.

 11 ¶ And the children of Gad dwelt over against them, in the land of Bashan unto Salchah:

12 Joël, le chef, et Shapham, le suivant, et Jaanai et Shaphat en Bashan.

 12 Joel the chief, and Shapham the next, and Jaanai, and Shaphat in Bashan.

13 Et leurs frères, selon la maison de leurs pères, étaient Michael (Micaël), et Meshullam, et Sheba, et Jorai, et Jachan, et Zia et Heber (Éber), sept.

 13 And their brethren of the house of their fathers were, Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jachan, and Zia, and Heber, seven.

14 Ceux-ci sont les enfants d’Abihail, le fils de Huri, le fils de Jaroah, le fils de Gilead (Galaad), fils de Michael (Micaël), le fils de Jeshishai, le fils de Jahdo, le fils de Buz.

 14 These are the children of Abihail the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz;

15 Ahi, le fils d’Abdiel, le fils de Guni, chef de la maison de leurs pères.

 15 Ahi the son of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of the house of their fathers.

16 Et ils demeuraient en Gilead (Galaad), en Bashan, et dans les villes de leur ressort, et dans tous les faubourgs de Sharon, jusqu’à leurs frontières.

 16 And they dwelt in Gilead in Bashan, and in her towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, upon their borders.

17 Ils furent tous enregistrés dans les généalogies aux jours de Jotham, roi de Judah (Juda) (Juda), et aux jours de Jeroboam, roi d’Israël.

 17 All these were reckoned by genealogies in the days of Jotham king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.

18 ¶ Les fils de Reuben (Ruben), et les Gadites : et la demi-tribu de Manasseh (Manassé), parmi les vaillants hommes, portant le bouclier et l’épée, et tirant de l’arc, et habiles pour la guerre, étaient de quarante-quatre mille sept cent soixante, qui allaient à la guerre.

 18 ¶ The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war.

19 Et ils firent la guerre contre les Hagarites, contre Jetur, et Nephish et Nodab.

 19 And they made war with the Hagarites, with Jetur, and Nephish, and Nodab.

20 Et ils furent aidés contre eux, et les Hagarites (Hagaréniens), et tous ceux qui étaient avec eux, furent livrés en leur main ; car ils crièrent vers Dieu dans la bataille, et ils le firent fléchir, parce qu’ils avaient mis leur confiance en lui ;

 20 And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.

21 Et ils prirent leur bétail, cinquante mille chameaux, deux cent cinquante mille moutons, deux mille ânes, et en hommes, cent mille.

 21 And they took away their cattle; of their camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men an hundred thousand.

22 Car il en tomba morts un grand nombre, parce que la guerre était de Dieu. Et ils demeurèrent à leur place jusqu’à la captivité.

 22 For there fell down many slain, because the war was of God. And they dwelt in their steads until the captivity.

23 ¶ Et les enfants de la demi-tribu de Manasseh (Manassé) demeurèrent dans le pays ; ils s’accrurent depuis Bashan (Bassan) jusqu’à Baalhermon (Baal-Hermon,) et à Senir, et au mont Hermon.

 23 ¶ And the children of the half tribe of Manasseh dwelt in the land: they increased from Bashan unto Baalhermon and Senir, and unto mount Hermon.

24 Et ce sont ici les chefs de la maison de leurs pères c’est-à-dire Epher, et Ishi, et Eliel, et Azriel, et Jeremiah (Jérémie), et Hodaviah et Jahdiel, hommes puissants et vaillants, hommes de renom, et chefs de la maison de leurs pères.

 24 And these were the heads of the house of their fathers, even Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, mighty men of valour, famous men, and heads of the house of their fathers.

25 ¶ Et ils transgressèrent contre le Dieu de leurs pères, et ils se prostituèrent après les dieux des peuples du pays, que le SEIGNEUR avait détruits devant eux.

 25 ¶ And they transgressed against the God of their fathers, and went a whoring after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.

26 Et le Dieu d'Israël excita l’esprit de Pul, roi d’Assyrie, et l’esprit de Tilgathpilneser (Tilgath-Pilnéser), roi d’Assyrie, et il transporta les Reubenites (Rubénites), les Gadites : et la demi-tribu de Manasseh (Manassé), et les emmena à Halah, et à Habor, et à Hara, et à la rivière Gozan, où ils sont demeures jusqu’à ce jour.

 26 And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tilgathpilneser king of Assyria, and he carried them away, even the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, and brought them unto Halah, and Habor, and Hara, and to the river Gozan, unto this day.
