1 Or ce sont ceux qui vinrent vers David à Ziklag, tandis qu’il se tenait encore claustré à cause de Saul, le fils de Kish, et ils étaient parmi les puissants hommes, qui donnaient du secours en temps de guerre,

 1 Now these are they that came to David to Ziklag, while he yet kept himself close because of Saul the son of Kish: and they were among the mighty men, helpers of the war.

2 Ils étaient armés d’arcs, et pouvaient utiliser aussi bien la main droite que la gauche, lançant des pierres, et tirant des flèches avec l’arc ; ils étaient de Benjamin, parmi les frères de Saul.

 2 They were armed with bows, and could use both the right hand and the left in hurling stones and shooting arrows out of a bow, even of Saul’s brethren of Benjamin.

3 Le chef était Ahiezer, puis Joash, les fils de Shemaah, le Gibeathite ; et Jeziel et Pelet, les fils d’Azmaveth ; et Berachah ; et Jehu, l’Antothite ;

 3 The chief was Ahiezer, then Joash, the sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite; and Jeziel, and Pelet, the sons of Azmaveth; and Berachah, and Jehu the Antothite,

4 Et Ishmaiah, le Gibeonite, un homme fort parmi les trente, et au-dessus des trente ; et Jeremiah (Jérémie), et Jahaziel ; Johanan ; Josabad, le Gederathite ;

 4 And Ismaiah the Gibeonite, a mighty man among the thirty, and over the thirty; and Jeremiah, and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Josabad the Gederathite,

5 Eluzai, et Jerimoth, et Bealiah, et Shemariah, et Shephatiah, l’Haruphite ;

 5 Eluzai, and Jerimoth, and Bealiah, and Shemariah, and Shephatiah the Haruphite,

6 Elkanah, et Jesiah, et Azareel, et Joezer et Jashobeam, les Korhites ;

 6 Elkanah, and Jesiah, and Azareel, and Joezer, and Jashobeam, the Korhites,

7 Et Joëlah et Zebadiah, les fils de Jeroham, de Gedor.

 7 And Joelah, and Zebadiah, the sons of Jeroham of Gedor.

8 Et des Gadites, se séparèrent vers David, dans la forteresse, au désert, des hommes puissants, des hommes de guerre propres pour se battre, qui pouvaient manier le bouclier et l’écu, leurs visages étaient comme des têtes de lions, et ils étaient aussi rapides que des gazelles sur les montagnes.

 8 And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains;

9 Ezer, le premier ; Obadiah (Abdias), le second ; Eliab, le troisième ;

 9 Ezer the first, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third,

10 Mishmannah, le quatrième ; Jeremiah (Jérémie), le cinquième ;

 10 Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,

11 Attai, le sixième ; Eliel, le septième ;

 11 Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,

12 Johanan, le huitième ; Elzabad, le neuvième ;

 12 Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,

13 Jeremiah (Jérémie), le dixième ; Machbanai, le onzième.

 13 Jeremiah the tenth, Machbanai the eleventh.

14 Ceux-là étaient d’entre les fils de Gad, capitaines de l’armée ; un des moindres, avait la charge de cent hommes, et le plus grand, de mille.

 14 These were of the sons of Gad, captains of the host: one of the least was over an hundred, and the greatest over a thousand.

15 Ce sont ceux qui passèrent le Jourdain au premier mois, quand il déborde sur toutes ses rives, et ils mirent en fuite tous ceux des vallées, vers l’Est et vers l’Ouest.

 15 These are they that went over Jordan in the first month, when it had overflown all his banks; and they put to flight all them of the valleys, both toward the east, and toward the west.

16 Et des enfants de Benjamin et de Judah (Juda), vinrent vers David, à la forteresse.

 16 And there came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the hold unto David.

17 Et David sortit à leur rencontre, et prit la parole, il leur dit : Si vous êtes venus vers moi avec des intentions de paix pour m’aider, mon cœur s’intriquera à vous ; mais si vous êtes venus pour me trahir à mes ennemis, voyant qu’il n’y a rien de mal en mes mains, le Dieu de nos pères le voie, et qu’il vous reprenne.

 17 And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it.

18 Alors l’esprit vint sur Amasai, qui était chef des capitaines, et il dit : Nous sommes à toi, David, et avec toi, fils de Jesse ; paix, paix à toi, et paix à ceux qui t’aident, car ton Dieu t’aide. Alors David les reçut, et les établit capitaines de la troupe.

 18 Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

19 Et quelques-uns de Manasseh (Manassé) se rangèrent avec David lorsqu’il vint avec les Philistins pour combattre contre Saul ; mais ils ne les aidèrent pas, car les seigneurs des Philistins, après consultation, le renvoyèrent, disant : Il se rangera avec son maître Saul, au péril de nos têtes.

 19 And there fell some of Manasseh to David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle: but they helped them not: for the lords of the Philistines upon advisement sent him away, saying, He will fall to his master Saul to the jeopardy of our heads.

20 Comme il allait à Ziklag, se rangèrent avec lui des hommes de Manasseh (Manassé), Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, et Michael, Jozabad, et Elihu et Zillthai, capitaines des milliers de Manasseh (Manassé), qui étaient de Manasseh (Manassé).

 20 As he went to Ziklag, there fell to him of Manasseh, Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zilthai, captains of the thousands that were of Manasseh.

21 Et ils aidèrent David contre la main de maraudeurs ; car ils étaient tous des hommes puissants et de valeur, et ils furent capitaines dans l’armée.

 21 And they helped David against the band of the rovers: for they were all mighty men of valour, and were captains in the host.

22 Car à ce moment-là on arrivait journellement vers David pour l’aider, jusqu’à ce que ce soit une grande armée, comme l’armée de Dieu.

 22 For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God.

23 ¶ Or ce sont ici le nombre des bandes qui étaient préparés et armés pour la guerre, et ils vinrent vers David à Hebron, pour lui remettre le royaume de Saul, selon la parole du SEIGNEUR ;

 23 ¶ And these are the numbers of the bands that were ready armed to the war, and came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the LORD.

24 Les enfants de Judah (Juda), qui portaient l’écu et la lance, étaient six mille huit cents, préparés et armés pour la guerre.

 24 The children of Judah that bare shield and spear were six thousand and eight hundred, ready armed to the war.

25 Des enfants de Simeon, puissants hommes de valeur pour la guerre, sept mille cent.

 25 Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valour for the war, seven thousand and one hundred.

26 Des enfants de Levi (Lévi), quatre mille six cents ;

 26 Of the children of Levi four thousand and six hundred.

27 Et Jehoiada, était le conducteur des Aaronites, et avec lui trois mille sept cents ;

27 And Jehoiada was the leader of the Aaronites, and with him were three thousand and seven hundred;

28 Et Zadok (Tsadok), jeune homme, puissant et de valeur, et de la maison de son père vingt-deux capitaines.

 28 And Zadok, a young man mighty of valour, and of his father’s house twenty and two captains.

29 Et des enfants de Benjamin, la parenté de Saul, trois mille ; car jusqu’alors la plus grande partie d’entre eux faisaient la garde de la maison de Saul.

 29 And of the children of Benjamin, the kindred of Saul, three thousand: for hitherto the greatest part of them had kept the ward of the house of Saul.

30 Et des enfants d’Ephraim (Éphraïm), vingt mille huit cents, puissants hommes de valeur, renommés dans toute la maison de leurs pères.

 30 And of the children of Ephraim twenty thousand and eight hundred, mighty men of valour, famous throughout the house of their fathers.

31 Et de la demi-tribu de Manasseh (Manassé), dix-huit mille, qui furent désignés par leur nom pour venir établir David roi.

 31 And of the half tribe of Manasseh eighteen thousand, which were expressed by name, to come and make David king.

32 Et des enfants d’Issachar, qui étaient lesquels étaient des hommes qui la connaissance des temps, pour savoir ce qu’Israël devait faire, deux cents de leurs chefs, et tous leurs frères étaient sous leur commandement.

 32 And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.

33 De Zebulun (Zabulon), ceux qui allaient à la bataille, entraînés pour la guerre avec tous les instruments de guerre, cinquante mille, qui pouvaient garder leur rang, ils n’avaient pas un cœur double.

 33 Of Zebulun, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, with all instruments of war, fifty thousand, which could keep rank: they were not of double heart.

34 Et de Naphtali (Nephtali), un millier de capitaines, et avec eux trente-sept mille hommes, portant l’écu et la lance.

 34 And of Naphtali a thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty and seven thousand.

35 Et des Danites entraînés pour la guerre, vingt-huit mille six cents.

 35 And of the Danites expert in war twenty and eight thousand and six hundred.

36 Et d’Asher (Asser), ceux qui allaient au combat, entraînés pour la guerre, quarante mille.

 36 And of Asher, such as went forth to battle, expert in war, forty thousand.

37 Et de l’autre côté du Jourdain des Reubenites (Rubénites), et des Gadites, et de la demi-tribu de Manasseh (Manassé), avec toutes sortes d’instruments de guerre pour combattre, cent vingt mille.

 37 And on the other side of Jordan, of the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and of the half tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of instruments of war for the battle, an hundred and twenty thousand.

38 Tous, hommes de guerre, qui pouvaient garder leur rang, vinrent avec un cœur parfait à Hebron, pour établir David roi sur tout Israël ; et tout le reste d’Israël était d’un seul cœur pour établir David roi.

 38 All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.

39 Et ils furent là, avec David trois jours, mangeant et buvant ; car leurs frères leur avaient préparé des vivres.

 39 And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them.

40 De plus ceux qui étaient les plus près d’eux, c’est-à-dire jusqu’à Issachar, à Zebulun (Zabulon) et à Naphtali (Nephtali), apportaient des vivres sur des ânes, sur des chameaux, et sur des mulets et sur des bœufs ; et des aliments, de la farine, des gâteaux de figues et des grappes de raisin, et du vin, et de l’huile, et des bœufs et des moutons en abondance ; car il y avait de la joie en Israël.

 40 Moreover they that were nigh them, even unto Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, and meat, meal, cakes of figs, and bunches of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep abundantly: for there was joy in Israel.
