1 Et David tint conseil avec les capitaines de milliers et de centaines, et avec chaque conducteur.
|
1 And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader.
|
2 Et David dit à toute la congrégation d’Israël : S’il vous semble bon, et que cela vienne du SEIGNEUR notre Dieu, envoyons de tous côtés vers nos frères qui restent dans tout le pays d’Israël, et aussi vers les prêtres et les Lévites, qui sont dans leurs ville, et faubourgs, afin qu’ils puissent s’assembler vers nous,

2 And David said unto all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good unto you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad unto our brethren every where, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves unto us:

3 Et ramenons auprès de nous l’arche de notre Dieu ; car nous ne l’avons pas recherchée aux jours de Saul.
|
3 And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we enquired not at it in the days of Saul.
|
4 Et toute la congrégation dit qu’on fasse ainsi, car la chose était bonne aux yeux de tout le peuple.
|
4 And all the congregation said that they would do so: for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.
|
5 David rassembla donc tout Israël, depuis Shihor d’Égypte, jusqu’à l’entrée de Hemath, pour amener l’arche de Dieu de Kirjathjearim.
|
5 So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim.
|
6 Et David monta avec tout Israël à Baalah, qui est à Kirjathjearim, laquelle appartient à Judah (Juda), pour faire monter de là l’arche de Dieu, le SEIGNEUR, qui demeure entre les chérubins, sur lequel le nom y est invoqué.
|
6 And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the LORD, that dwelleth between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.
|
7 Et ils transportèrent l’arche de Dieu sur une charrette neuve, depuis la maison d’Abinadab ; et Uzza et Ahio conduisaient la charrette.
|
7 And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Uzza and Ahio drave the cart.
|
8 Et David et tout Israël jouaient devant Dieu de toute leur vigueur, en chantant, et en jouant des harpes, et des psaltérions, et des tambourins, et des cymbales et des trompettes.
|
8 And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.
|
9 ¶ Quand ils arrivèrent à l’aire de Kidon, Uzza étendit sa main pour retenir l’arche, car les bœufs avaient trébuché.
|
9 ¶ And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.
|
10 Et le courroux du SEIGNEUR s’embrasa contre Uzza, et il le frappa, parce qu’il avait étendu sa main sur l’arche ; et il mourut là devant Dieu.
|
10 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.
|
11 Et David fut irrité, parce que le SEIGNEUR avait fait une brèche sur Uzza ; c’est pourquoi ce lieu est appelé Perezuzzah jusqu’à ce jour.
|
11 And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore that place is called Perezuzza to this day.
|
12 Et David eut peur de Dieu ce jour-là, disant : Comment amènerais-je l’arche de Dieu chez moi?
|
12 And David was afraid of God that day, saying, How shall I bring the ark of God home to me?
|
13 Aussi David n’amena pas l’arche chez lui, dans la cité de David ; mais il la transporta dans la maison d’Obededom, le Gittite.
|
13 So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.
|
14 Et l’arche de Dieu resta trois mois avec la famille d’Obededom, dans sa maison. Et le SEIGNEUR bénit la maison d’Obed-Edom et tout ce qui était à lui.
|
14 And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.
