1 Or Hiram, roi de Tyre (Tyr), envoya des messagers à David, et du bois de cèdre, des maçons, et des charpentiers, pour lui bâtir une maison.
|
1 Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.
|
2 Et David reconnut que le SEIGNEUR l’avait affermi comme roi sur Israël, et que son royaume était haut élevé, à cause de son peuple Israël.
|
2 And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
|
3 ¶ Et David prit encore des femmes à Jérusalem, et il engendra encore des fils et des filles.
|
3 ¶ And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.
|
4 Et ce sont ici les noms de de ses enfants qu’il eut à Jérusalem Shammuah, et Shobab, Nathan, et Salomon,
|
4 Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

5 Et Ibhar, et Elishua, et Elpalet,
|
5 And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
|
6 Et Nogah, et Nepheg, et Japhia,
|
6 And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
|
7 Et Elishama, et Beeliada et Eliphalet.
|
7 And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.

8 ¶ Et quand les Philistins apprirent que David avait été oint roi sur tout Israël, tous les Philistins montèrent pour chercher David. Et David, l’apprit, et sortit au-devant d’eux.
|
8 ¶ And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.
|
9 Et les Philistins vinrent, et se répandirent dans la vallée des Rephaim.
|
9 And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
|
10 Et David s’enquerra auprès de Dieu, disant : Monterai-je contre les Philistins? et les livreras-tu en ma main? Et le SEIGNEUR lui dit : Monte, et je les livrerai en ta main.
|
10 And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.
|
11 Alors ils montèrent à Baalperazim ; et David les frappa là. Puis David dit : Dieu a brisé mes ennemis par ma main, comme la rupture des eaux ; c’est pourquoi on appela ce lieu Baalperazim.
|
11 So they came up to Baalperazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baalperazim.
|
12 Et comme ils laissèrent là leurs dieux, David commanda qu’on les brûle bau feu.
|
12 And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
|
13 Et les Philistins se répandirent de nouveau dans la vallée.
|
13 And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.
|
14 C’est pourquoi David s’enquerra encore auprès de Dieu ; et Dieu lui dit : Ne monte pas après eux, détourne-toi d’eux, et viens sur eux en face des mûriers.
|
14 Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
|
15 Et il arrivera, quand tu entendras un bruit de pas au sommet des mûriers, alors tu sortiras pour combattre ; car Dieu sera sorti devant toi pour frapper l’armée des Philistins.
|
15 And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
|
16 David fit donc ce que Dieu lui avait commandé ; et ils frappèrent l’armée des Philistins depuis Gibeon jusqu’à Gazer.
|
16 David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.
|
17 Et la renommée de David se répandit dans tous les pays, et le SEIGNEUR mit la crainte de David sur toutes les nations.
|
17 And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.
