1 Et Salomon, le fils de David, fut affermi dans son royaume, et le SEIGNEUR son Dieu était avec lui, et le magnifia extrêmement.
|
1 And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
|
2 Et Salomon parla à tout Israël, aux capitaines de milliers et de centaines, et aux juges et à tous les gouverneurs de tout Israël, les chefs des pères.
|
2 Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.
|
3 Ainsi Salomon et toute la congrégation avec lui, allèrent au haut lieu qui était à Gibeon ; car là était le tabernacle de la congrégation de Dieu, lequel Moïse, le serviteur du SEIGNEUR, avait fait dans le désert.
|
3 So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.
|
4 Mais David avait monté l’arche de Dieu, depuis Kirjathjearim (Kirjath‑Jearim) au lieu que David lui avait préparé ; car il lui avait dressé une tente à Jérusalem.
|
4 But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
|
5 De plus l’autel de bronze que Bezaleel (Betsaléel), le fils d’Uri, fils de Hur, avait fait, il le mit devant le tabernacle du SEIGNEUR ; et Salomon et la congrégation la recherchèrent.
|
5 Moreover the brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
|
6 Et Salomon monta vers l’autel de bronze devant le SEIGNEUR, lequel était devant le tabernacle de la congrégation, et il offrit dessus mille offrandes consumées,

6 And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
|
7 ¶ En cette nuit-là, Dieu apparut à Salomon, et lui dit : Demande ce que tu voudras que je te donne.
|
7 ¶ In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
|
8 Et Salomon dit à Dieu : Tu as montré grande miséricorde envers David, mon père, et tu m’as fait régner à sa place.
|
8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
|
9 Maintenant, ô SEIGNEUR Dieu, que ta promesse faite à David, mon père, soit affermie ; car tu m’as fait roi sur un peuple nombreux comme la poussière de la terre.
|
9 Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
|
10 Donne-moi maintenant sagesse et connaissance, afin que je puisse aller et venir devant ce peuple ; car qui peut juger ton peuple, qui est si grand ?
|
10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
|
11 Et Dieu dit à Salomon : Parce que cela était dans ton cœur, et que tu n’as pas demandé : richesses, biens, ou honneurs, ni la vie de tes ennemis, ni même une longue vie, mais que tu as demandé pour toi sagesse et connaissance, afin que tu puisses juger mon peuple, sur lequel je t’ai fait roi,

11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
|
12 Sagesse et connaissance te sont accordées ; et je te donnerai richesses, biens et honneurs, comme n’en a Reu aucun roi qui a été avant toi, et comme n’en aura aucun après toi.
|
12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
|
13 ¶ Puis Salomon fit son trajet du haut lieu qui était à Gibeon jusqu’à Jérusalem, de devant le tabernacle de la congrégation, et il régna sur Israël.
|
13 ¶ Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.
|
14 Et Salomon rassembla des chariots et des cavaliers ; et il avait quatorze cents chariots et douze mille cavaliers, lesquels il plaça dans les villes à chariots, et auprès du roi, à Jérusalem.
|
14 And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
|
15 Et le roi fit que l’argent et l’or étaient aussi abondants à Jérusalem que les pierres, et fit que les cèdres étaient aussi abondants que les sycomores de la plaine.
|
15 And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.
|
16 Et Salomon avait des chevaux qui sortait d’Égypte, ainsi que de fil de lin ; les marchands du roi recevaient le fil de lin pour un prix convenu.
|
16 And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king’s merchants received the linen yarn at a price.
|
17 Et on faisait monter et sortir d’Égypte un chariot pour six cents shekels d’argent, et un cheval pour cent cinquante ; et ainsi on faisait sortir des chevaux pour tous les rois des Hittites, et pour les rois de Syrie, par le même moyen.
|
17 And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.
