1 Et lorsque la reine de Sheba entendit parler de la renommée de Salomon, elle vint à Jérusalem pour éprouver Salomon par des questions difficiles, avec un fort grand train, et des chameaux qui portaient des aromates, et de l’or en abondance et des pierres précieuses ; et quand elle vint à Salomon, elle s’entretint avec lui de tout ce qu’elle avait dans son cœur.

 1 And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

2 Et Salomon lui expliqua toutes ses questions ; et il n’y eut rien de caché de la part de Salomon qu’il ne lui expliquât.

 2 And Solomon told her all her questions: and there was nothing hid from Solomon which he told her not.

3 Et quand la reine de Sheba vit la sagesse de Salomon, et la maison qu’il avait bâtie,

 3 And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,

4 Et les mets de sa table, et la tenue de ses serviteurs, et l’ordre de fonction de ses ministres et leurs vêtements, et ses échansons et leurs vêtements, et sa montée, par laquelle il montait à la maison du SEIGNEUR, il n’y avait plus d’esprit en elle.

 4 And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel; his cupbearers also, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.

5 Et elle dit au roi : C’était bien vrai ce que j’ai entendu dire dans mon pays de tes actions et de ta sagesse ;

 5 And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom:

6 Néanmoins je ne croyais pas leurs paroles, jusqu’à ce que je sois venue, et que mes yeux l’aient vu ; et voici, on ne m’avait pas raconté la moitié de la grandeur de ta sagesse ; car tu surpasses la renommée que j’en avais entendue.

 6 Howbeit I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard.

7 Heureux sont tes hommes, et heureux sont tes serviteurs qui se tiennent continuellement devant toi, et qui entendent ta sagesse.

 7 Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.

8 Béni soit le SEIGNEUR, ton Dieu, qui a pris plaisir en toi pour te placer sur son trône, afin que tu sois roi pour le SEIGNEUR, ton Dieu : parce que ton Dieu aime Israël, pour les affermir à jamais, c’est pourquoi il t’a établi roi sur eux pour exercer jugement et justice.

 8 Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the LORD thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.

9 Et elle donna au roi cent vingt talents d’or, et des aromates en abondance et des pierres précieuses ; il n’y eut plus d’aromates tels que ceux que la reine de Sheba donna au roi Salomon .

 9 And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave king Solomon.

10 Et les serviteurs de Hiram et les serviteurs de Salomon, qui apportèrent de l’or d’Ophir, apportèrent aussi du bois d’algummin et des pierres précieuses.

 10 And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, which brought gold from Ophir, brought algum trees and precious stones.

11 Et le roi fit de ce bois d’algummin des terrasses à la maison du SEIGNEUR et au palais du roi, et des harpes et des psaltérions pour les chanteurs : on n’en avait pas vu de semblable auparavant dans le pays de Judah (Juda).

 11 And the king made of the algum trees terraces to the house of the LORD, and to the king’s palace, and harps and psalteries for singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.

12 Et le roi Salomon donna à la reine de Sheba tout son désir, tout ce qu’elle demanda, plus que ce qu’elle avait apporté au roi. Puis elle s’en retourna, et s’en alla dans son pays, elle et ses serviteurs.

 12 And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which she had brought unto the king. So she turned, and went away to her own land, she and her servants.

13 ¶ Le poids de l’or qui arrivait à Salomon chaque année était de six cent soixante-dix talents d’or ;

 13 ¶ Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold;

14 En plus de ce que les négociants et les marchands apportaient. Et tous les rois d’Arabie et les gouverneurs du pays, apportaient or et argent à Salomon.

 14 Beside that which chapmen and merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.

15 ¶ Et le roi Salomon fit deux cents rondaches d’or battu, il fallait six cents shekels d’or battu, pour chaque rondache ;

 15 ¶ And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of beaten gold went to one target.

16 Et il fit trois cents boucliers d’or battu, employant trois cents shekels d’or pour chaque bouclier. Et le roi les mit dans la maison de la forêt du Liban.

 16 And three hundred shields made he of beaten gold: three hundred shekels of gold went to one shield. And the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

17 De plus le roi fit un grand trône d’ivoire, et le recouvrit d’or pur ;

 17 Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.

18 Et le trône avait six marches ainsi qu’un marchepied d’or qui étaient fixés au trône ; et des accoudoirs de chaque côté du siège, et deux lions se tenaient près des accoudoirs ;

 18 And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the stays:

19 Et douze lions se tenaient là sur les six marches, d’un côté et de l’autre. ien de pareil n’avait été fait dans aucun royaume.

 19 And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom.

20 ¶ Et tous les gobelets à boire du roi Salomon étaient d’or, et tous les vases de la maison de la forêt du Liban étaient d’or pur ; rien n’était d’argent, il ne valait rien aux jours de Salomon.

 20 ¶ And all the drinking vessels of king Solomon were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver; it was not any thing accounted of in the days of Solomon.

21 Car les navires du roi allaient à Tarshish avec les serviteurs de Hiram ; une fois tous les trois ans arrivaient les navires de Tarsis, apportant or, et argent, ivoire, et des singes et des paons.

 21 For the king’s ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram: every three years once came the ships of Tarshish bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

22 Et le roi Salomon surpassait tous les rois de la terre, en richesses et en sagesse.

 22 And king Solomon passed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

23 ¶ Et tous les rois de la terre recherchaient la présence de Salomon, pour entendre sa sagesse laquelle Dieu avait mise dans son cœur.

 23 ¶ And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, that God had put in his heart.

24 Et ils apportaient chacun son présent, ustensiles d’argent, et ustensiles d’or, des vêtements, des harnais, des aromates, des chevaux, des mulets, un impôt d’année par année.

 24 And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, harness, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

25 ¶ Et Salomon avait quatre mille stalles pour chevaux et chariots, et douze mille cavaliers, lesquels il concéda dans les villes des chariots, et auprès du roi à Jérusalem.

 25 ¶ And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; whom he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

26 ¶ Et il régnait sur tous les rois depuis le fleuve jusqu’au pays des Philistins, et jusqu’à la frontière d’Égypte.

 26 ¶ And he reigned over all the kings from the river even unto the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.

27 Et le roi fit que l’argent soit aussi commun à Jérusalem que les pierres, et il fit les cèdres aussi nombreux que les sycomores qui sont dans la plaine.

 27 And the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the low plains in abundance.

28 On rapportait à Salomon des chevaux d’Égypte et de tous les pays.

 28 And they brought unto Solomon horses out of Egypt, and out of all lands.

29 ¶ Quant au reste des actions de Salomon, les premières et les dernières, ne sont-elles pas écrites dans le livre de Nathan, le prophète, dans la prophétie d’Ahijah, le Shilonite, et dans les visions de Iddo, le voyant, contre Jeroboam, le fils de Nebat ?

 29 ¶ Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer against Jeroboam the son of Nebat?

30 Et Salomon régna quarante ans à Jérusalem sur tout Israël.

 30 And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.

31 Et Salomon s’endormit avec ses pères, et il fut enterré dans la cité de David, son père ; et Rehoboam, son fils, régna à sa place.

 31 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
