1 Et l’Esprit de Dieu vint sur Azariah, le fils d’Oded.
|
1 And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:
|
2 Et il sortit à la rencontre d’Asa, et lui dit : Asa, et tout Judah (Juda) et Benjamin, écoutez-moi : Le SEIGNEUR est avec vous tandis que vous êtes avec lui ; et si vous le cherchez, vous le trouverez ; mais si vous l’abandonnez, il vous abandonnera.

2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
|
3 Or depuis longtemps Israël a été sans le vrai Dieu, et sans prêtre enseignant, et sans loi ;
|
3 Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.
|
4 Mais lorsque dans leur angoisse ils se sont tournés vers le SEIGNEUR Dieu, et qu’ils l’ont cherché, ils l’ont trouvé.
|
4 But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.
|
5 Et en ces temps-là, il n’y avait pas de paix pour celui qui sortait et celui qui entrait, mais il y avait de grandes oppressions parmi tous les habitants du pays.
|
5 And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.
|
6 Une nation était détruite par une autre, et une ville par une autre ville ; car Dieu les oppressait par toutes sortes d’adversité.
|
6 And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.
|
7 Vous donc, soyez forts, et ne laissez pas vos mains faiblir ; car votre œuvre sera récompensée.
|
7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.
|
8 Et quand Asa entendit ces paroles et la prophétie d’Oded, le prophète, il prit courage, et ôta les abominables idoles de tout le pays de Judah (Juda) et de Benjamin, et des villes qu’il avait prises au mont Ephraim ; et il rétablit l’autel du SEIGNEUR, qui était devant le portique du SEIGNEUR.

8 And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.
|
9 Et il rassembla tout Judah (Juda) et Benjamin, et les étrangers qui étaient avec eux, d’Ephraim, et de Manasseh et de Simeon ; car des gens d’Israël vinrent à lui en abondance, quand ils virent que le SEIGNEUR son Dieu était avec lui.
|
9 And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.
|
10 Ainsi ils se rassemblèrent à Jérusalem, le troisième mois de la quinzième année du règne d’Asa ;
|
10 So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
|
11 Et ils offrirent au SEIGNEUR, ce jour-là, du butin qu’ils avaient amené, sept cents bœufs et sept mille moutons.
|
11 And they offered unto the LORD the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.
|
12 Et ils entrèrent en une alliance pour chercher le SEIGNEUR Dieu de leurs pères, de tout leur cœur et de toute leur âme ;
|
12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
|
13 En sorte que quiconque ne rechercherait pas le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël, devait être mis à mort, aussi bien petit que grand, aussi bien homme que femme.
|
13 That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
|
14 Et ils jurèrent au SEIGNEUR, à haute voix, et en s’écriant, et avec trompettes et avec cors ;
|
14 And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.
|
15 Et tout Judah (Juda) se réjouit de ce serment, car ils avaient juré de tout leur cœur, et ils l’avaient recherché de toute leur volonté ; et ils l’avaient trouvé. Et le SEIGNEUR leur donna du repos de tous côtés.
|
15 And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.
|
16 ¶ Et aussi concernant Maachah, la mère du roi Asa, il la destitua de son rang de reine, parce qu’elle avait fait une idole dans un bosquet ; et Asa abattit son idole, la piétina, et la brûla au torrent de Kidron.
|
16 ¶ And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
|
17 Mais les hauts lieux ne furent pas ôtés d’Israël ; néanmoins le cœur d’Asa fut parfait durant tous ses jours.
|
17 But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.
|
18 ¶ Et il apporta dans la maison de Dieu les choses que son père avait dédié, et ce qu’il avait lui-même dédié, l’argent, l’or et les ustensiles.
|
18 ¶ And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
|
19 Et il n’y eut pas de guerre jusqu’à la trente-cinquième année du règne d’Asa.
|
19 And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
|
