1 Et Jehoshaphat, son fils, régna à sa place, et s’affermit contre Israël.
|
1 And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
|
2 Et il mit des forces dans toutes les villes fortifiées de Judah (Juda), et plaça des garnisons dans le pays de Judah (Juda), et dans les villes d’Ephraim qu’Asa, son père, avait prises.
|
2 And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
|
3 Et le SEIGNEUR fut avec Jehoshaphat, parce qu’il marcha selon les premiers chemins de David, son père, et ne rechercha pas les Baalim ;
|
3 And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
|
4 Mais il rechercha le SEIGNEUR Dieu de son père, et marcha dans ses commandements, et non comme faisait Israël.
|
4 But sought to the LORD God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
|
5 C’est pourquoi le SEIGNEUR établit le royaume en sa main ; et tout Judah (Juda) apportait des présents à Jehoshaphat, et il eut richesses et honneur en abondance.
|
5 Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
|
6 Et son cœur s’éleva dans les chemins du SEIGNEUR, et de plus il ôta de Judah (Juda) les hauts lieux et les bosquets.
|
6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
|
7 ¶ Et en la troisième année de son règne, il envoya ses princes, c’est-à-dire Benhail, Obadiah, Zechariah, et Nethaneel et Michaiah, pour enseigner dans les villes de Judah (Juda) ;
|
7 ¶ Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
|
8 Et avec eux, il envoya les Lévites, c’est-à-dire, Shemaiah, et Nethaniah, et Zebadiah, et Asahel, et Shemiramoth, et Jehonathan, et Adonijah, et Tobijah et Tobadonijah, Lévites, et avec eux Elishama et Jehoram, prêtres.

8 And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
|
9 Et ils enseignèrent en Judah (Juda), ayant avec eux le livre de la loi du SEIGNEUR, et sillonnèrent toutes les villes de Judah (Juda), et enseignèrent parmi le peuple.
|
9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.
|
10 ¶ Et la crainte du SEIGNEUR tomba sur tous les royaumes des pays qui étaient autour de Judah (Juda), de sorte qu’ils ne firent pas la guerre à Jehoshaphat.
|
10 ¶ And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
|
11 Même quelques Philistins on apportait des présents à Jehoshaphat, et un tribut d’argent ; et les Arabes lui amenèrent des troupeaux, sept mille sept cents béliers, et sept mille sept cents boucs.
|
11 Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
|
12 ¶ Et Jehoshaphat devint extrêmement puissant ; et il bâtit en Judah (Juda) des châteaux et des villes d’approvisionnement.
|
12 ¶ And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
|
13 Il eut beaucoup d’affaires dans les villes de Judah (Juda), des hommes de guerre, hommes puissants et vaillants étaient à Jérusalem.
|
13 And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.
|
14 Et c’est ici leur nombre, selon la maison de leurs pères : les capitaines de milliers de Judah (Juda), Adnah, le chef, et avec lui trois cent mille hommes puissants et vaillants.
|
14 And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
|
15 Et à côté de lui était Jehohanan, le capitaine, et avec lui deux cent quatre-vingt mille.
|
15 And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
|
16 Et à côté de lui était Amasiah, le fils de Zichri, qui s’était volontairement offert au SEIGNEUR, et avec lui deux cent mille hommes puissants et vaillants.
|
16 And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
|
17 Et de Benjamin, Eliada, homme puissant et vaillant, et avec lui deux cent mille hommes armés de l’arc et du bouclier ;
|
17 And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
|
18 Et à côté de lui était Jehozabad, et avec lui cent quatre-vingt mille prêts pour la guerre.
|
18 And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
|
19 Ceux-ci étaient au service du roi, outre ceux que le roi avait mis dans les villes fortifiées, dans tout Judah (Juda).
|
19 These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.
