1 Or, Jehoshaphat eut richesses et honneur en abondance, et s’unit avec Rahab.

 1 Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab.

2 Et après un certain nombre d’années, il descendit vers Rahab, à Samarie. Et Rahab tua pour lui, et pour le peuple qu’il avait avec lui moutons et bœufs en abondance, et le persuada de monter avec lui à Ramothgilead.

 2 And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramothgilead.

3 Et Rahab, roi d’Israël, Dità Jehoshaphat, roi de Judah (Juda) : Viendras-tu avec moi à Ramothgilead ? Et il lui répondit : Je suis comme tu es, et mon peuple comme ton peuple ; et nous serons avec toi dans la guerre.

 3 And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramothgilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.

4 ¶ Et Jehoshaphat dit au roi d’Israël : Enquiers-toi aujourd’hui, je te prie, dde la parole du SEIGNEUR.

 4 ¶ And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.

5 C’est pourquoi le roi d’Israël rassembla quatre cents hommes parmi les prophètes, et leur dit  : Irons-nous à la guerre contre Ramothgilead, ou me désisterai-je ? Et ils dirent : Monte, car Dieu la livrera en la main du roi.

 5 Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king’s hand.

6 Mais Jehoshaphat dit : N’y a-t-il pas ici encore un prophète du SEIGNEUR, auprès de qui nous puissions nous enquérir ?

 6 But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?

7 Et le roi d’Israël dit à Jehoshaphat : Il y a encore un homme par lequel nous pouvons nous enquérir du SEIGNEUR ; mais je le hais, car il ne m’a jamais rien prophétisé de bon, mais toujours du mal ; c’est Micaiah, le fils d‘Imla. Et Jehoshaphat dit : Que le roi ne parle pas ainsi.

 7 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

8 Et le roi d’Israël appela un de ses officiers, et dit : Va chercher promptement Micaiah, le fils d’Imla.

 8 And the king of Israel called for one of his officers, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.

9 Et le roi d’Israël et Jehoshaphat, roi de Judah (Juda), étaient assis, chacun sur son trône, revêtus de leurs robes, et ils étaient assis dans un lieu disponible, au entrée de la porte de Samarie ; et tous les prophètes prophétisaient devant eux.

 9 And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat either of them on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sat in a void place at the entering in of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

10 Et Zedekiah, le fils de Chenaanah, se fit des cornes de fer, et dit : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Avec celles-ci tu pousseras les Syriens, jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient détruits.

 10 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made him horns of iron, and said, Thus saith the LORD, With these thou shalt push Syria until they be consumed.

11 Et tous les prophètes prophétisaient de même, en disant : Monte à Ramothgilead, et prospère, car le SEIGNEUR la livrera en la main du roi.

 11 And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramothgilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.

12 Et le messager qui était allé appeler Micaiah lui parla, disant : Voici, les paroles des prophètes déclarent d’une seule bouche du bien au roi ; que ta parole donc je te prie, soit semblable à celle de l’un d’eux, et dis du bien.

 12 And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.

13 Et Micaiah répondit : De même que le SEIGNEUR est vivant, ce que mon Dieu dira, je le dirai.

 13 And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, even what my God saith, that will I speak.

14 Et quand il arriva vers le roi, le roi lui dit : Micaiah, irons-nous à la guerre contre Ramothgilead, ou m’en désisterai-je ? Et il dit : Montez, et prospérez, et ils seront livrés en votre main.

 14 And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand.

15 Et le roi lui dit) : Combien de fois t’adjurerai-je de ne me dire que la vérité au nom du SEIGNEUR ?

 15 And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD?

16 Et il dit : J’ai vu tout Israël dispersé sur les montagnes, comme des moutons qui n’ont pas de berger ; et le SEIGNEUR a dit : Ceux-ci n’ont pas de maître ; qu’ils retournent donc chacun dans sa maison en paix.

 16 Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.

17 Et le roi d’Israël dit à Jehoshaphat : Ne t’ai-je pas dit qu’il ne prophétise rien de bon quand il est question de moi, mais du mal ?

 17 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil?

18 De nouveau Michée dit : C’est pourquoi, entendez la parole du SEIGNEUR : J’ai vu le SEIGNEUR assis sur son trône, et toute l’armée du ciel se tenant à sa main droite et à sa gauche.

 18 Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.

19 Et le SEIGNEUR dit : Qui séduira Rahab, roi d’Israël, afin qu’il monte et qu’il tombe à Ramothgilead ? Et l’un parla d’une manière et l’autre disant d’une autre manière.

 19 And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.

20 Alors un esprit sortit et se tint devant le SEIGNEUR, et dit : Moi, je le séduirai. Et le SEIGNEUR lui dit : Comment ?

 20 Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith?

21 Et il dit : Je sortirai, et je serai un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tous ses prophètes. Et le SEIGNEUR dit : Tu le séduiras, et même tu prévaudras à bout. Sors, et fais ainsi.

 21 And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the LORD said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so.

22 Maintenant donc, voici, le SEIGNEUR a mis un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tes prophètes que voilà ; et le SEIGNEUR a prononcé du mal contre toi.

 22 Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.

23 Alors Zedekiah, le fils de Chenaanah, s’approcha, et frappa Micaiah sur la joue, et dit : Par quel chemin l’Esprit du SEIGNEUR est-il parti de moi pour te parler ?

 23 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah upon the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?

24 Et Micaiah dit : Voici, tu le verras ce jour-là quand tu iras dans une chambre intérieure pour te cacher.

 24 And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

25 Alors le roi d’Israël dit : Prenez Micaiah, et ramenez-le vers Amon, le gouverneur de la ville, et vers Joash, fils du roi.

 25 Then the king of Israel said, Take ye Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;

26 Et vous direz : Ainsi dit le roi : Mettez cet individu en prison, et nourrissez-le du pain d’affliction et de l’eau d’affliction, jusqu’à ce que je revienne en paix.

 26 And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.

27 Et Micaiah dit : Si jamais tu reviens en paix, alors le SEIGNEUR n’a pas parlé par moi. Et il dit : Écoutez vous tous, peuples.

 27 And Micaiah said, If thou certainly return in peace, then hath not the LORD spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, all ye people.

28 Ainsi le roi d’Israël, et Jehoshaphat, le roi de Judah (Juda), montèrent à Ramothgilead.

 28 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramothgilead.

29 Et le roi d’Israël dit à Jehoshaphat : Je me déguiserai, et j’irai à la bataille ; mais toi, revêts-toi de tes habits. Ainsi le roi d’Israël se déguisa ; et ils allèrent à la bataille.

 29 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went to the battle.

30 Or le roi de Syrie avait commandé aux capitaines des chariots, qui étaient avec lui, disant : Ne combattez ni contre petit ni contre grand, mais seulement le roi d’Israël.

 30 Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that were with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with the king of Israel.

31 Et il arriva, lorsque les capitaines des chariots virent Jehoshaphat, qu’ils dirent : C’est le roi d’Israël. C’est pourquoi ils l’entourèrent pour combattre ; mais Jehoshaphat cria, et le SEIGNEUR l’aida, et Dieu les poussa à s’éloigner de lui.

 31 And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.

32 Car il arriva que, lorsque les capitaines des chariots s’aperçurent que ce n’était pas le roi d’Israël, ils se détournèrent de le poursuivre.

 32 For it came to pass, that, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back again from pursuing him.

33 Et un certain homme tira de son arc à l’aventure, et frappa le roi d’Israël entre les jointures du harnais ; c’est pourquoi il dit au cocher de son chariot : Tourne ta main afin que tu puisses me mener hors du camp ; car je suis blessé.

 33 And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: therefore he said to his chariot man, Turn thine hand, that thou mayest carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.

34 Et la bataille se renforça ce jour-là ; néanmoins le roi d’Israël se tint debout dans son chariot, face aux Syriens, jusqu’au soir ; et comme le soleil se couchait il mourut.

 34 And the battle increased that day: howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he died.
