1 Et Jehoshaphat, le roi de Judah (Juda), revint en paix dans sa maison, à Jérusalem.

 1 And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.

2 Et Jehu, le fils de Hanani, le voyant, sortit à sa rencontre, dit du roi Jehoshaphat. Aiderais-tu l’impie et aimes-tu ceux qui haïssent le SEIGNEUR ? C’est pourquoi il y a colère sur toi de la part du SEIGNEUR.

 2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.

3 Cependant il s’est trouvé de bonnes choses en toi, en ce que tu as ôté du pays les bosquets, et tu as disposé ton cœur à rechercher Dieu.

 3 Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seek God.

4 Et Jehoshaphat demeura à Jérusalem, et de nouveau, il sortit parmi le peuple, depuis Beersheba jusqu’au mont Ephraim, et il les ramena au SEIGNEUR Dieu de leurs pères.

 4 And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem: and he went out again through the people from Beersheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them back unto the LORD God of their fathers.

5 ¶ Et il établit des juges dans le pays, dans toutes les villes fortifiées de Judah (Juda), de ville en ville.

 5 ¶ And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city,

6 Et il dit aux juges : Prenez garde à ce que vous ferez ; car ce n’est pas pour l’homme que vous jugerez, mais pour le SEIGNEUR, qui est avec vous en jugement.

 6 And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.

7 C’est pourquoi maintenant, que la crainte du SEIGNEUR soit sur vous ; prenez garde à ce que vous ferez ; car il n’y a pas d’iniquité dans le SEIGNEUR notre Dieu, ni de distinction de personnes, ni d’acceptation de présents.

 7 Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.

8 ¶ De plus Jehoshaphat établit à Jérusalem des Lévites, et des prêtres, et des chefs des pères d’Israël, pour le jugement du SEIGNEUR, et pour les contestations, quand ils retournèrent à Jérusalem.

 8 ¶ Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and of the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.

9 Et il leur commanda, en disant : Vous agirez ainsi dans la crainte du SEIGNEUR, avec fidélité et avec un cœur parfait.

 9 And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.

10 Et quelque soit la cause qui viendra de la part de vos frères qui demeurent dans leurs villes, entre sang et sang, entre loi et commandement, statuts et jugements, vous les avertirez, afin qu’ils ne transgressent pas contre le SEIGNEUR, et que la colère ne tombe sur vous et sur vos frères : faites ainsi, et vous ne transgresserez pas.

 10 And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against the LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass.

11 Et voici, Amariah, le prêtre principal, est préposé sur vous pour toutes les affaires du SEIGNEUR, et Zebadiah, le fils d’Ishmael, le dirigeant de la maison de Judah (Juda), pour toutes les affaires du roi ; et les Lévites seront les officiers devant vous. Agissez courageusement et le SEIGNEUR sera avec l’homme bon.

 11 And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the LORD; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king’s matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and the LORD shall be with the good.
