1 Et en la septième année, Jehoiada s’affermit, et prit les capitaines de centaines, Azariah, le fils de Jeroham, et Ishmael, le fils de Jehohanan, et Azariah, le fils d’Obed, et Maaseiah, le fils d’Adaiah, et Elishaphat, le fils de Zichri, en alliance avec lui.

1 And in the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, and took the captains of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham, and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, into covenant with him.
|
2 Et ils firent le tour de Judah (Juda), assemblèrent, de toutes les villes de Judah (Juda), les Lévites et les chefs des pères d’Israël, et ils vinrent à Jérusalem.
|
2 And they went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the chief of the fathers of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.
|
3 Et toute la congrégation fit une alliance avec le roi, dans la maison de Dieu. Et il leur dit : Voici, le fils du roi régnera, comme le SEIGNEUR dit des fils de David.
|
3 And all the congregation made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said unto them, Behold, the king’s son shall reign, as the LORD hath said of the sons of David.
|
4 Ceci est la chose que vous ferez : Un tiers d’entre vous entrant le jou du shabbat, prêtres et Lévites, serez portiers portes des seuils.
|
4 This is the thing that ye shall do; A third part of you entering on the sabbath, of the priests and of the Levites, shall be porters of the doors;
|
5 Et un tiers sera dans la maison du roi ; et un tiers à la porte du fondement ; et tout le peuple sera dans les cours de la maison du SEIGNEUR.
|
5 And a third part shall be at the king’s house; and a third part at the gate of the foundation: and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the LORD.
|
6 Mais que nul n’entre dans la maison du SEIGNEUR, sauf les prêtres et ceux des Lévites qui faisaient le service, ils entreront, car ils sont saints ; et tout le peuple fera la garde du SEIGNEUR.
|
6 But let none come into the house of the LORD, save the priests, and they that minister of the Levites; they shall go in, for they are holy: but all the people shall keep the watch of the LORD.
|
7 Et les Lévites entoureront le roi de tous côtés, chaque homme ses armes en sa main, et quiconque entrera dans la maison, sera mis à mort ; et soyez avec le roi quand il entrera et quand il sortira.
|
7 And the Levites shall compass the king round about, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whosoever else cometh into the house, he shall be put to death: but be ye with the king when he cometh in, and when he goeth out.
|
8 Ainsi les Lévites et tout Judah (Juda), firent selon tout ce que Jehoiada, le prêtre, avait commandé ; et ils prirent chacun ses hommes, qui devaient venir le jour du shabbat, avec ceux qui devaient sortir le jour du shabbat ; car Jehoiada, le prêtre, ne congédia pas les classes.

8 So the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the priest had commanded, and took every man his men that were to come in on the sabbath, with them that were to go out on the sabbath: for Jehoiada the priest dismissed not the courses.
|
9 De plus Jehoiada, le prêtre, donna aux capitaines de centaines les lances, les boucliers et les écus qui provenaient du roi David, et qui étaient dans la maison de Dieu.
|
9 Moreover Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David’s, which were in the house of God.
|
10 Et il plaça tout le peuple, chaque homme ayant son arme en sa main, depuis le côté droit du temple jusqu’au côté gauche du temple, le long de l’autel et du temple près du roi tout autour.
|
10 And he set all the people, every man having his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, along by the altar and the temple, by the king round about.
|
11 Puis ils firent sortir le fils du roi, et mirent sur lui la couronne et lui donna le témoignage ; et ils le firent roi. Et Jehoiada et ses fils l’oignirent, et dirent : Que Dieu sauve le roi.
|
11 Then they brought out the king’s son, and put upon him the crown, and gave him the testimony, and made him king. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, God save the king.
|
12 ¶ Or lorsqu’Athaliah entendit le bruit du peuple courant et louant le roi, elle vint vers le peuple, dans la maison du SEIGNEUR.
|
12 ¶ Now when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people into the house of the LORD:
|
13 Et elle regarda, et voici, le roi se tenait debout près de sa colonne, au entrée, et les princes et les trompettes près du roi, et tout le peuple du pays se réjouissait, et sonnait des trompettes, et les chanteurs, avec des instruments de musique, et ceux qui enseignaient à chanter les louanges. Alors Athaliah déchira ses vêtements et dit : Trahison,Trahison.

13 And she looked, and, behold, the king stood at his pillar at the entering in, and the princes and the trumpets by the king: and all the people of the land rejoiced, and sounded with trumpets, also the singers with instruments of musick, and such as taught to sing praise. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, Treason, Treason.
|
14 Puis Jehoiada, le prêtre fit sortir les capitaines de centaines qui étaient établis sur l’armée, et leur dit : Menez-la hors des rangs, et que celui qui la suivra soit mis à mort par l’épée. Car le prêtre avait dit : Ne la tuez pas dans la maison du SEIGNEUR.

14 Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains of hundreds that were set over the host, and said unto them, Have her forth of the ranges: and whoso followeth her, let him be slain with the sword. For the priest said, Slay her not in the house of the LORD.
|
15 Ils mirent donc les mains sur elle, et quand elle alla vers l’entrée de la porte des chevaux, près de la maison du roi, là ils la tuèrent.
|
15 So they laid hands on her; and when she was come to the entering of the horse gate by the king’s house, they slew her there.
|
16 ¶ Et Jehoiada fit une alliance entre lui, et entre tout le peuple et le roi, qu’ils seraient le peuple du SEIGNEUR.
|
16 ¶ And Jehoiada made a covenant between him, and between all the people, and between the king, that they should be the LORD’S people.
|
17 Alors tout le peuple alla dans la maison de Baal, et la démolirent, et brisèrent ses autels et ses statues en morceaux, et ils tuèrent devant les autels Mattan, le prêtre de Baal.
|
17 Then all the people went to the house of Baal, and brake it down, and brake his altars and his images in pieces, and slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.
|
18 Et Jehoiada assigna aussi les fonctions de la maison du SEIGNEUR en la main des prêtres, les Lévites, lesquels David avait distribués dans la maison du SEIGNEUR, pour offrir les offrandes consumées au SEIGNEUR, comme il est écrit dans la loi de Moïse, se réjouissant et chantant, comme cela avait été ordonné par David.

18 Also Jehoiada appointed the offices of the house of the LORD by the hand of the priests the Levites, whom David had distributed in the house of the LORD, to offer the burnt offerings of the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, as it was ordained by David.
|
19 Et il plaça les portiers aux portes de la maison du SEIGNEUR, afin qu’aucune personne impure de quelque manière que ce soit, n’y entre.
|
19 And he set the porters at the gates of the house of the LORD, that none which was unclean in any thing should enter in.
|
20 Et il prit les capitaines de centaines, et les notables, et les gouverneurs du peuple, et tout le peuple du pays, et il fit descendre le roi, de la maison du SEIGNEUR, et ils entrèrent par la porte supérieure dans la maison du roi, et ils placèrent le roi sur le trône du royaume.
|
20 And he took the captains of hundreds, and the nobles, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and brought down the king from the house of the LORD: and they came through the high gate into the king’s house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.
|
21 Et tout le peuple du pays se réjouit, et la ville fut tranquille, après qu’ils aient tuée Athaliah par l’épée.
|
21 And all the people of the land rejoiced: and the city was quiet, after that they had slain Athaliah with the sword.
