1 Et les habitants de Jérusalem établirent roi à sa place Ahaziah son plus jeune fils, car la bande d’hommes qui était venue au camp avec les Arabes, avaient tué tous les plus âgés. Ainsi Ahaziah, le fils de Jehoram, roi de Judah (Juda), régna.

 1 And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his stead: for the band of men that came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the eldest. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.

2 Ahaziah était âgé de quarante-deux ans, quand il commença à régner, et il régna un an à Jérusalem. Le nom de sa mère était Athaliah (Athalie), fille d’Omri.

 2 Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.

3 Il marcha aussi suivant les chemins de la maison d’Rahab ; car sa mère était sa conseillère pour agir perfidement.

 3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab: for his mother was his counsellor to do wickedly.

4 Il fit donc ce qui est mauvais à la vue du SEIGNEUR, comme la maison d’Rahab ; car ils furent ses conseillers après la mort de son père, pour sa ruine.

 4 Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the LORD like the house of Ahab: for they were his counsellors after the death of his father to his destruction.

5 ¶ Il marcha aussi selon leur conseil, et alla avec Jehoram, le fils d’Rahab, roi d’Israël, à la guerre, contre Hazael, roi de Syrie, à Ramothgilead ; et les Syriens frappèrent Jehoram,

 5 ¶ He walked also after their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to war against Hazael king of Syria at Ramothgilead: and the Syrians smote Joram.

6 Et il s’en retourna pour se faire guérir à Jezreel, à cause des blessures qu’il avait reçues à Ramah, quand il combattait Hazael, roi de Syrie. Et Azariah, le fils de Jehoram, roi de Judah (Juda), descendit pour voir Jehoram, le fils d’Rahab, à Jezreel, parce qu’il était malade.

 6 And he returned to be healed in Jezreel because of the wounds which were given him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And Azariah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab at Jezreel, because he was sick.

7 Et la destruction d’Ahaziah émana de Dieu, d’être allé vers Jehoram ; car quand il fut arrivé, il sortit avec Jehoram contre Jehu, le fils de Nimshi, que le SEIGNEUR avait oint pour retrancher la maison d’Rahab.

 7 And the destruction of Ahaziah was of God by coming to Joram: for when he was come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.

8 Et il arriva que, comme Jehu exécutait jugement sur la maison d’Rahab, il trouva les princes de Judah (Juda) et les fils des frères d’Ahaziah, qui servaient Ahaziah, et il les tua.

 8 And it came to pass, that, when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Judah, and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah, that ministered to Ahaziah, he slew them.

9 Et il chercha Ahaziah, et ils le prirent, (car il s’était caché à Samarie) ; et on l’amena à Jehu, et après l’avoir tué, ils l’enterrèrent ; parce que dirent-ils : Il est le fils de Jehoshaphat, qui rechercha le SEIGNEUR de tout son cœur. Ainsi la maison d’Ahaziah fût sans pouvoir pour conserver le royaume.

 9 And he sought Ahaziah: and they caught him, (for he was hid in Samaria,) and brought him to Jehu: and when they had slain him, they buried him: Because, said they, he is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah had no power to keep still the kingdom.

10 ¶ Mais quand Athaliah, la mère d’Ahaziah, vit que son fils était mort, elle se leva, et extermina toute la semence royale de la maison de Judah (Juda).

 10 ¶ But when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal of the house of Judah.

11 Mais Jehoshabeath, la fille du roi, prit Joash, le fils d’Ahaziah, et le déroba d’entre les fils du roi qui étaient en train d’être tués, et le mit ainsi que sa nourrice, dans lune chambre à coucher. Ainsi Jehoshabeath, la fille du roi Jehoram, la femme de Jehoiada, le prêtre, (car elle était la sœur d’Ahaziah), le cacha aux yeux d’Athaliah, de sorte qu’elle ne le fit pas mourir.

 11 But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons that were slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedchamber. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest, (for she was the sister of Ahaziah,) hid him from Athaliah, so that she slew him not.

12 Et il fut caché avec eux, six ans, dans la maison de Dieu ; et Athaliah régna sur le pays.

 12 And he was with them hid in the house of God six years: and Athaliah reigned over the land.
