1 Hezekiah commença à régner quand il avait vingt-cinq ans, et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem. Le nom de sa mère était Abijah, la fille de Zechariah.

 1 Hezekiah began to reign when he was five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah.

2 Et il fit ce qui était droit à la vue du SEIGNEUR, selon tout ce qu’avait fait David, son père.

 2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.

3 ¶ En la première année de son règne, au premier mois, il ouvrit les portes de la maison du SEIGNEUR, et les répara.

 3 ¶ He in the first year of his reign, in the first month, opened the doors of the house of the LORD, and repaired them.

4 Et il fit venir les prêtres et les Lévites, et les rassembla dans la rue de l’Est.

 4 And he brought in the priests and the Levites, and gathered them together into the east street,

5 Et leur dit : Entendez-moi, vous Lévites, sanctifiez-vous maintenant, et sanctifiez la maison du SEIGNEUR Dieu de vos pères, et enlevez du lieu saint les immondices.

 5 And said unto them, Hear me, ye Levites, sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the LORD God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.

6 Car nos pères ont transgressé et fait ce qui était mal aux yeux du SEIGNEUR, notre Dieu, et l’ont abandonné, et ont détourné leurs faces de l’habitation du SEIGNEUR et ont tourné leur dos.

 6 For our fathers have trespassed, and done that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD our God, and have forsaken him, and have turned away their faces from the habitation of the LORD, and turned their backs.

7 Ils ont aussi fermé les portes du portique, et ont éteint les lampes, et n’ont pas brûler l’encens, ni offert d’offrandes consumées au Dieu d’Israël dans le lieu saint.

 7 Also they have shut up the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and have not burned incense nor offered burnt offerings in the holy place unto the God of Israel.

8 C’est pourquoi la colère du SEIGNEUR était sur Judah (Juda) et sur Jérusalem ; et il les a livrés à la détresse, à l’étonnement et au sifflement, comme vous le voyez de vos yeux.

 8 Wherefore the wrath of the LORD was upon Judah and Jerusalem, and he hath delivered them to trouble, to astonishment, and to hissing, as ye see with your eyes.

9 Car voici, nos pères sont tombés par l’épée, et nos fils, et nos filles et nos femmes sont en captivité, à cause de cela.

 9 For, lo, our fathers have fallen by the sword, and our sons and our daughters and our wives are in captivity for this.

10 Maintenant j’ai en mon cœur de faire alliance avec le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël, pour que l’ardeur de sa colère puisse se détourner de nous.

 10 Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.

11 Mes fils, ne soyez pas négligents ; car le SEIGNEUR vous a choisis, pour vous tenir devant lui, pour le servir, et pour être ses ministres, et pour brûler l’encens.

 11 My sons, be not now negligent: for the LORD hath chosen you to stand before him, to serve him, and that ye should minister unto him, and burn incense.

12 ¶ Puis les Lévites se levèrent : Mahath, le fils d’Amasai, et Joël, le fils d’Azariah, et des fils des Kohathites ; et des fils de Merari, Kish, le fils d’Abdi, et Azariah, le fils de Jehalelel ; et des Gershonites, Joah, le fils de Zimmah, et Eden, le fils de Joah ;

 12 ¶ Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites: and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehalelel: and of the Gershonites; Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah:

13 Et des fils d’Elizaphan, Shimri et Jeiel ; et des fils d’Asaph, Zechariah et Mattaniah ;

 13 And of the sons of Elizaphan; Shimri, and Jeiel: and of the sons of Asaph; Zechariah, and Mattaniah:

14 Et des fils d’Heman, Jeiel et Shimei, et des fils de Jeduthun, Shemaiah, et Uzziel.

 14 And of the sons of Heman; Jehiel, and Shimei: and of the sons of Jeduthun; Shemaiah, and Uzziel.

15 Et ils assemblèrent leurs frères, et se sanctifièrent, et allèrent selon le commandement du roi, et suivant les paroles du SEIGNEUR, pour purifier la maison du SEIGNEUR.

 15 And they gathered their brethren, and sanctified themselves, and came, according to the commandment of the king, by the words of the LORD, to cleanse the house of the LORD.

16 Et les prêtres entrèrent dans l’intérieur de la maison du SEIGNEUR, pour la purifier ; et sortirent dans la cour de la maison du SEIGNEUR, toutes les impuretés qu’ils trouvèrent dans le temple du SEIGNEUR. Et les Lévites les prirent pour les emporter dehors, au torrent de Kidron.

 16 And the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD, to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness that they found in the temple of the LORD into the court of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took it, to carry it out abroad into the brook Kidron.

17 Et ils commencèrent, le premier jour du premier mois à sanctifier, et au huitième jour du mois, ils vinrent au portique du SEIGNEUR ; ainsi ils sanctifièrent la maison du SEIGNEUR en huit jours ; et le seizième jour du premier mois, ils avaient achevé.

 17 Now they began on the first day of the first month to sanctify, and on the eighth day of the month came they to the porch of the LORD: so they sanctified the house of the LORD in eight days; and in the sixteenth day of the first month they made an end.

18 Puis ils allèrent chez le roi Hezekiah, et dirent : Nous avons purifié toute la maison du SEIGNEUR, ainsi que l’autel des offrandes consumées et tous ses ustensiles, et la table des pains de proposition et tous ses ustensiles.

 18 Then they went in to Hezekiah the king, and said, We have cleansed all the house of the LORD, and the altar of burnt offering, with all the vessels thereof, and the shewbread table, with all the vessels thereof.

19 De plus nous avons apprêté et sanctifié tous les ustensiles que le roi Ahaz avait rejetés pendant sa transgression ; et voici, ils sont devant l’autel du SEIGNEUR.

 19 Moreover all the vessels, which king Ahaz in his reign did cast away in his transgression, have we prepared and sanctified, and, behold, they are before the altar of the LORD.

20 ¶ Alors le roi Hezekiah se leva de bonne heure, et assembla les dirigeants de la ville, et monta à la maison du SEIGNEUR.

 20 ¶ Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD.

21 Et ils amenèrent sept taureaux, et sept béliers, set ept agneaux et sept boucs, une offrande pour le péché, pour le royaume, et pour le sanctuaire et pour Judah (Juda). Et il commanda aux prêtres, fils d’Aaron, de les offrir sur l’autel du SEIGNEUR.

 21 And they brought seven bullocks, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven he goats, for a sin offering for the kingdom, and for the sanctuary, and for Judah. And he commanded the priests the sons of Aaron to offer them on the altar of the LORD.

22 Ainsi ils égorgèrent les bœufs, et les prêtres reçurent le sang, et l’ aspergea sur l’autel ; de même quand ils eurent égorgé les béliers, ils aspergèrent le sang sur l’autel ; ils égorgèrent aussi les agneaux, et ils aspergèrent le sang sur l’autel.

 22 So they killed the bullocks, and the priests received the blood, and sprinkled it on the altar: likewise, when they had killed the rams, they sprinkled the blood upon the altar: they killed also the lambs, and they sprinkled the blood upon the altar.

23 Et ils firent approcher les boucs pour l’offrande pour le péché, devant le roi et devant la congrégation, et ils posèrent leurs mains sur eux ;

 23 And they brought forth the he goats for the sin offering before the king and the congregation; and they laid their hands upon them:

24 Et les prêtres les égorgèrent, et ils firent réconciliation avec leur sang sur l’autel, afin de faire une expiation pour tout Israël ; car le roi avait ordonné que l’offrande consumée et l’offrande pour le péché, devaient être faits pour tout Israël.

 24 And the priests killed them, and they made reconciliation with their blood upon the altar, to make an atonement for all Israel: for the king commanded that the burnt offering and the sin offering should be made for all Israel.

25 Et il plaça aussi les Lévites dans la maison du SEIGNEUR, avec des cymbales, avec psaltérions, et avec des harpes, selon le commandement de David et de Gad, le voyant du roi, et de Nathan, le prophète ; car ainsi était le commandement du SEIGNEUR, par ses prophètes.

 25 And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the prophet: for so was the commandment of the LORD by his prophets.

26 Et les Lévites se tinrent là avec les instruments de David, et les prêtres avec les trompettes.

 26 And the Levites stood with the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets.

27 Et Hezekiah commanda d’offrir l’offrande consumée sur l’autel. Et quand on commença l’offrande consumée, le cantique du SEIGNEUR commença aussi, avec les trompettes et avec les instruments ordonnés par David, roi d’Israël.

 27 And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the LORD began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel.

28 Et toute la congrégation adora, le chant retentit, et les joueurs de trompette sonnèrent ; et tout cela continua jusqu’à ce que l’offrande soit terminée.

 28 And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: and all this continued until the burnt offering was finished.

29 Et après avoir achevé l’offrande, le roi et tous ceux qui étaient présents avec lui s’inclinèrent et adorèrent.

 29 And when they had made an end of offering, the king and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped.

30 Puis le roi Hezekiah et les princes commandèrent aux Lévites de louer le SEIGNEUR avec les paroles de David et d’Asaph, le voyant. Et ils chantèrent des louanges avec allégresse, et ils inclinèrent leurs têtes et adorèrent.

 30 Moreover Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites to sing praise unto the LORD with the words of David, and of Asaph the seer. And they sang praises with gladness, and they bowed their heads and worshipped.

31 Alors Hezekiah répondit, et dit : Vous vous êtes maintenant consacrés au SEIGNEUR ; approchez-vous, et amenez des sacrifices, et des offrandes de remerciement dans la maison du SEIGNEUR. Et la congrégation amena des sacrifices et des offrandes de remerciements, et tous ceux qui étaient d’un cœur volontaire amenèrent des offrandes consumées.

 31 Then Hezekiah answered and said, Now ye have consecrated yourselves unto the LORD, come near and bring sacrifices and thank offerings into the house of the LORD. And the congregation brought in sacrifices and thank offerings; and as many as were of a free heart burnt offerings.

32 Et le nombre des offrandes consumées que la congrégation amena, fut de soixante et dix taureaux, cent béliers, deux cents agneaux, tous ceux-ci étaient pour une offrande consumée au SEIGNEUR.

 32 And the number of the burnt offerings, which the congregation brought, was threescore and ten bullocks, an hundred rams, and two hundred lambs: all these were for a burnt offering to the LORD.

33 Et les choses consacrées étaient six cents bœufs et trois mille moutons.

 33 And the consecrated things were six hundred oxen and three thousand sheep.

34 Mais les prêtres étaient trop peu nombreux, de sorte qu’ils ne purent dépouiller tous les offrandes consumées, c’est pourquoi les Lévites, leurs frères, les aidèrent, jusqu’à ce que l’ouvrage soit achevé, et jusqu’à ce que les autres prêtres se soient sanctifiés ; car les Lévites étaient d’un cœur plus droit pour se sanctifier, que les prêtres.

 34 But the priests were too few, so that they could not flay all the burnt offerings: wherefore their brethren the Levites did help them, till the work was ended, and until the other priests had sanctified themselves: for the Levites were more upright in heart to sanctify themselves than the priests.

35 Et les offrandes consumées étaient aussi en abondance, avec les graisses des offrandes de paix, et avec les offrandes liquides pour chaque offrande consumée. Ainsi le service de la maison du SEIGNEUR fut rétabli.

 35 And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.

36 Et Hezekiah et tout le peuple se réjouirent de ce que Dieu avait disposé le peuple ; car la chose fut faite subitement.

 36 And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had prepared the people: for the thing was done suddenly.
