1 Et Hezekiah envoya vers tout Israël et Judah (Juda), et il écrivit aussi des lettres à Ephraim et à Manasseh, pour qu’ils viennent à la maison du SEIGNEUR, à Jérusalem, pour célébrer la pâque au SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël.

 1 And Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, to keep the passover unto the LORD God of Israel.

2 Car le roi, et ses princes et toute la congrégation, avaient tenu conseil, à Jérusalem, afin de célébrer la pâque au second mois ;

 2 For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the passover in the second month.

3 Car ils ne pouvaient pas la célébrer en ce temps-là, parce les prêtres ne s’étaient pas sanctifiés, et le peuple ne s’était pas non plus rassemblé à Jérusalem.

 3 For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves sufficiently, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Jerusalem.

4 Et la chose plut au roi et à toute la congrégation ;

 4 And the thing pleased the king and all the congregation.

5 Et ils établirent un décret pour publier une proclamation par tout Israël, depuis Beersheba jusqu’à Dan, pour qu’ils viennent célébrer la pâque au SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël, à Jérusalem ; car depuis longtemps ils ne l’avaient pas faite de la manière qu’il était écrit.

 5 So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beersheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the passover unto the LORD God of Israel at Jerusalem: for they had not done it of a long time in such sort as it was written.

6 Ainsi les courriers allèrent avec les lettres du roi et de ses princes, par tout Israël et Judah (Juda), selon le commandement du roi, disant : Vous enfants d’Israël, retournez au SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Abraham, d’Isaac et d’Israël, et il reviendra vers le reste d’entre vous qui est échappé de la main des rois d’Assyrie.

 6 So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto the LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, and he will return to the remnant of you, that are escaped out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.

7 Et ne soyez pas comme vos pères, et comme vos frères, qui ont transgressé contre le SEIGNEUR Dieu de leurs pères, c’est pourquoi il les a livrés à la désolation, comme vous le voyez.

 7 And be not ye like your fathers, and like your brethren, which trespassed against the LORD God of their fathers, who therefore gave them up to desolation, as ye see.

8 Maintenant, ne raidissez pas votre cou, comme on fait vos pères, mais abandonnez-vous au SEIGNEUR, et entrez dans son sanctuaire, lequel il a consacré pour toujours, servez le SEIGNEUR, votre Dieu, et l’ardeur de sa colère se détournera de vous.

 8 Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.

9 Car si vous retournez vers le SEIGNEUR, vos frères et vos enfants trouveront compassion devant ceux qui les ont emmenés captifs, en sorte qu’ils reviendront dans ce pays : car le SEIGNEUR, votre Dieu, fait grâce et est miséricordieux ; et il ne détournera pas sa face de vous, si vous revenez à lui.

 9 For if ye turn again unto the LORD, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that lead them captive, so that they shall come again into this land: for the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.

10 Ainsi les courriers passaient de ville en ville, à travers le pays d’Ephraim et de Manasseh, et jusqu’à Zebulun ; mais on les couvrait de ridicule et on se moquait d’eux.

 10 So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh even unto Zebulun: but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.

11 Toutefois, quelques-uns d’Asher, et de Manasseh et de Zebulun s’humilièrent, et vinrent à Jérusalem.

 11 Nevertheless divers of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem.

12 La main de Dieu fut aussi en Judah (Juda), pour leur donner un même cœur, afin d’exécuter le commandement du roi et des princes, selon la parole du SEIGNEUR.

 12 Also in Judah the hand of God was to give them one heart to do the commandment of the king and of the princes, by the word of the LORD.

13 ¶ Et il s’assembla à Jérusalem un peuple nombreux, pour célébrer la fête du pain sans levain, au second mois, ce fut une très grande congrégation.

 13 ¶ And there assembled at Jerusalem much people to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great congregation.

14 Et ils se levèrent, et ils retirèrent les autels qui étaient dans Jérusalem ; et ils retirèrent tous les autels à encens, et ils les jetèrent dans le torrent de Kidron.

 14 And they arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for incense took they away, and cast them into the brook Kidron.

15 Puis on égorgea la pâque le quatorzième jour du second mois ; et les prêtres et les Lévites avaient Reu honte et s’étaient sanctifiés, et ils apportèrent des offrandes consumées dans la maison du SEIGNEUR.

 15 Then they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought in the burnt offerings into the house of the LORD.

16 Et ils se tinrent à leur place, suivant leur charge, selon a loi de Moïse, l’homme de Dieu ; et les prêtres aspergeaient le sang qu’ils recevaient de la main des Lévites.

 16 And they stood in their place after their manner, according to the law of Moses the man of God: the priests sprinkled the blood, which they received of the hand of the Levites.

17 Car ils étaient nombreux dans la congrégation qui n’étaient pas sanctifiés ; c’est pourquoi les Lévites avaient la charge d’égorger les pâques pour tous ceux qui n’étaient pas purs, afin de les sanctifier au SEIGNEUR.

 17 For there were many in the congregation that were not sanctified: therefore the Levites had the charge of the killing of the passovers for every one that was not clean, to sanctify them unto the LORD.

18 Car une grande partie du peuple, beaucoup de ceux d’Ephraim, et de Manasseh, d’Issachar et de Zebulun, ne s’étaient pas purifiés, toutefois ils mangèrent la pâque, autrement que ce qui était écrit. Mais Hezekiah pria pour eux, en disant : Que le bon SEIGNEUR pardonne chacun.

 18 For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon every one

19 Qui dispose son cœur à rechercher Dieu, le SEIGNEUR Dieu de ses pères, bien qu’il ne soit pas nettoyé selon la purification du sanctuaire.

 19 That prepareth his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary.

20 Et le SEIGNEUR écouta Hezekiah, et guérit le peuple.

 20 And the LORD hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.

21 Et les enfants d’Israël qui se trouvèrent à Jérusalem célébrèrent la fête du pain sans levain, pendant sept jours, avec grande allégresse et les Lévites et les prêtres louaient le SEIGNEUR jour après jour, chantant avec de puissants instruments au SEIGNEUR.

 21 And the children of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness: and the Levites and the priests praised the LORD day by day, singing with loud instruments unto the LORD.

22 Et Hezekiah parla aisément à tous les Lévites, qui enseignaient la bonne connaissance du SEIGNEUR ; et ils mangèrent pendant les sept jours de la fête, offrant des offrandes de paix, et faisant confession au SEIGNEUR Dieu de leurs pères.

 22 And Hezekiah spake comfortably unto all the Levites that taught the good knowledge of the LORD: and they did eat throughout the feast seven days, offering peace offerings, and making confession to the LORD God of their fathers.

23 Et toute l’assemblée prit conseil de célébrer sept autres jours ; et ils célébrèrent sept autres jours avec allégresse.

 23 And the whole assembly took counsel to keep other seven days: and they kept other seven days with gladness.

24 Car Hezekiah, roi de Judah (Juda), donna à la congrégation mille taureaux et sept mille moutons ; et les princes donnèrent à la congrégation mille taureaux et dix mille moutons ; et un grand nombre de prêtres se sanctifièrent.

 24 For Hezekiah king of Judah did give to the congregation a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the congregation a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

25 Et toute la congrégation de Judah (Juda), avec les prêtres et les Lévites, et toute la congrégation qui était venue d’Israël, et les étrangers qui étaient venus du pays d’Israël, et qui demeuraient en Judah (Juda), se réjouirent.

 25 And all the congregation of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced.

26 Ainsi il y eut une grande joie à Jérusalem ; car depuis le temps de Salomon, le fils de David, roi d’Israël, il n’y avait rien Reu de semblable dans Jérusalem.

 26 So there was great joy in Jerusalem: for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem.

27 ¶ Puis les prêtres, les Lévites se levèrent et bénirent le peuple, et leur voix fut entendue, et leur prière monta jusqu’à sa sainte demeure, c’est-à-dire jusqu’au ciel,

 27 ¶ Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy dwelling place, even unto heaven.
