1 En la troisième année du règne du roi Belshazzar (Belshatsar) une vision m’apparut à moi, Daniel, après celle qui m’était apparue au commencement.

 1 In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.

2 Je vis donc une vision, et il arriva, que je vis, quand j’étais à Shushan (Suse) dans le palais, qui est dans la province d’Elam ; et je vis dans une vision, j’étais près du fleuve UlaI (Ulaï).

 2 And I saw in a vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the river of Ulai.

3 Et je levai mes yeux, et vis, et voici, un bélier se tenait devant le fleuve, et il avait deux cornes ; et ces deux cornes étaient hautes, mais l’une était plus haute que l’autre, et la plus haute s’éleva la dernière.

 3 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.

4 Je vis le bélier poussant vers l’Ouest, vers le Nord et vers le Sud ; si bien qu’aucune bête ne pouvait subsister devant lui, et il n’y avait personne qui puisse délivrer de sa puissance ; mais il agissait selon sa volonté, et devint grand.

 4 I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.

5 Et comme je réfléchissais, voici, un bouc venait de l’Ouest sur le dessus de toute la terre, et il ne touchait pas le sol ; et le bouc avait une corne considérable entre ses yeux.

 5 And as I was considering, behold, an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.

6 Et il vint jusqu’au bélier qui avait les deux cornes, que j’avais vu se tenant devant le fleuve ; et il courut contre lui dans la fureur de sa puissance.

 6 And he came to the ram that had two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran unto him in the fury of his power.

7 Et je le vis s’approcher du bélier, et, il s’avança contre lui, et heurta le bélier et brisa ses deux cornes ; et il n’y avait aucune puissance au bélier pour tenir devant lui, mais il le jeta à terre et le piétina ; et il n’y eut personne qui puisse délivrer le bélier de sa main.

 7 And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with choler against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns: and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down to the ground, and stamped upon him: and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.

8 C’est pourquoi le bouc devint fort grand ; et lorsqu’il fut devenu fort, la grande corne fut brisée, et quatre considérables s’élevèrent à sa place, vers les quatre vents du ciel.

 8 Therefore the he goat waxed very great: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and for it came up four notable ones toward the four winds of heaven.

9 Et de l’une d’elles sortit une petite corne qui devint extrêmement grande vers le Sud, et vers l’Est, et vers le beau pays.

 9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.

10 Et elle grandit même jusqu’à l’armée du ciel, et elle jeta à terre quelques-uns de l’armée, et des étoiles, et les piétina.

 10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.

11 Oui, il s’éleva même jusqu’au prince de l’armée, et par lui le sacrifice journalier fut ôté, et la place de son sanctuaire fut jetée par terre.

 11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.

12 Et une armée lui fut donnée, à cause de la transgression contre le sacrifice journalier ; et elle, la corne, jeta la vérité par terre, et elle réussit et prospéra.

 12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

13 ¶ Et j’entendis un saint parlant, et un autre saint disait à ce certain saint qui parlait : Jusqu’à quand durera la vision concernant le sacrifice journalier et de la transgression qui cause la désolation, pour livrer le sanctuaire et l’armée a être piétinés ?

 13 ¶ Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?

14 Et il me dit : Jusqu’à deux mille trois cents jours ; après quoi le sanctuaire sera purifié.

 14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

15 ¶ Et il arriva lorsque moi, moi Daniel, j’ai eu vu la vision et que je cherchais sa signification, voici, comme l’apparence d’un homme se tenait devant moi.

 15 ¶ And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, and sought for the meaning, then, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.

16 Et j’entendis la voix d’un homme entre les rives de l’Ulai (Ulaï), qui cria et dit : Gabriel, fais comprendre à cet homme la vision.

 16 And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.

17 Et il vint près d’où je me tenais, et quand il vint, j’avais peur et je tombai sur ma face, mais il me dit : Comprends, ô fils d’homme, car au temps de la fin s’accomplira la vision.

 17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

18 Et comme il me parlait, je tombais en un profond sommeil ma face contre terre ; mais il me toucha et me fit tenir debout.

 18 Now as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep sleep on my face toward the ground: but he touched me, and set me upright.

19 Et il dit : Voici, je te ferai savoir ce qui arrivera à la toute dernière fin de l’indignation, car il y aura une fin au temps assigné.

 19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.

20 Le bélier que tu as vu, qui avait deux cornes, ce sont les rois des Mèdes et des Perses ;

 20 The ram which thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia.

21 Et le bouc velu, c’est le roi de Grèce ; et la grande corne qui est entre ses yeux, c’est le premier roi.

 21 And the rough goat is the king of Grecia: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.

22 Et qu’elle ait été brisée, et que quatre cornes se soient élevées à sa place, ce sont quatre royaumes qui s’élèveront de la nation, mais non pas avec sa puissance.

 22 Now that being broken, whereas four stood up for it, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not in his power.

23 Et vers la fin de leur royaume, quand le nombre des transgresseurs sera accompli, il s’élèvera un roi au visage cruel et comprenant les choses les plus obscures.

 23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

24 Et sa puissance sera renforcée, mais non par sa propre puissance ; et il détruira étrangement, et il prospérera et réussira, il détruira les puissants et le saint peuple.

 24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

25 Et par sa subtilité, il fera prospérer la tromperie dans sa main ; il s’enorgueillira dans son cœur, et par des traités de paix beaucoup périront ; il s’élèvera aussi contre le Prince des princes ; mais il sera brisé sans le secours d’aucune main.

 25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

26 Or la vision du soir et du matin, qui a été racontée, est véritable ; et toi, scelle la vision, car elle s’accomplira dans beaucoup de jours.

 26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told is true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it shall be for many days.

27 Et moi, Daniel, je m’évanouissais et fus malade quelques jours ; puis je me levai et fis les affaires du roi ; j’étais étonné de la vision, mais personne ne la comprit.

 27 And I Daniel fainted, and was sick certain days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood it.
