1 Ce sont ici les statuts et les jugements auxquels vous vous conformerez pour les faire dans le pays que le SEIGNEUR Dieu de tes pères, te donne pour le posséder, tous les jours que vous vivrez sur la terre.

 1 These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth.

2 Vous détruirez entièrement tous les lieux où les nations desquelles vous posséderez le pays, auront servi leurs dieux, sur les hautes montagnes, et sur les collines et sous tout arbre vert.

 2 Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:

3 Et vous démolirez leurs autels, et briserez leurs piliers, et vous brûlerez au feu leurs bosquets ; et vous abattrez les images taillées de leurs dieux, et vous ferez disparaître leur nom de ce lieu-là.

 3 And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.

4 Vous ne ferez pas ainsi au SEIGNEUR votre Dieu ;

 4 Ye shall not do so unto the LORD your God.

5 Mais le lieu que le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu choisira d’entre toutes vos tribus pour y mettre son nom à savoir son habitation vous chercherez, et là, tu viendras.

 5 But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, even unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come:

6 Et là, vous apporterez vos offrandes brûlées, et vos sacrifices, et vos dîmes, et les offrandes élevées de votre main, et vos vœux, et vos offrandes volontaires, et les premiers-nés de vos troupeaux de bœufs et de brebis ;

 6 And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks:

7 Et là, vous mangerez devant le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu, et vous vous réjouirez de toutes les choses auxquelles vous aurez mis la main, vous et votre maisonnée, et dans lesquelles le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu t’aura béni.

 7 And there ye shall eat before the LORD your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your households, wherein the LORD thy God hath blessed thee.

8 Vous ne ferez pas toutes les choses que nous faisons ici aujourd’hui, chaque homme ce qui est droit à ses yeux ;

 8 Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.

9 Car vous n’êtes pas encore arrivés au repos et à l’héritage que le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu vous donne.

 9 For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you.

10 Mais quand vous passerez le Jourdain, et demeurerez dans la terre que le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu vous donne à hériter, et quand il vous donnera du repos de tous vos ennemis, tout autour ; pour que vous y demeuriez en sécurité,

 10 But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;

11 Alors, il y aura un lieu que le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu choisira pour y faire demeurer son nom ; là vous apporterez tout ce que je vous commande, vos offrandes brûlées, vos sacrifices, vos dîmes, et l’offrande élevée de votre main, et tous vos vœux les meilleurs que vous aurez voués au SEIGNEUR ;

 11 Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD:

12 Et vous vous réjouirez devant le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu, vous, vos fils, vos filles, vos serviteurs et vos servantes, et le Lévite qui est dans vos portes, d’autant qu’il n’a aucune portion ni héritage avec vous.

 12 And ye shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ye, and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that is within your gates; forasmuch as he hath no part nor inheritance with you.

13 Prends garde à toi que tu n’offres pas tes offrandes consumées dans tous les lieux que tu verras ;

 13 Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:

14 Mais dans le lieu que le SEIGNEUR choisira dans l’une de tes tribus, là tu offriras tes offrandes consumées et là, tu feras tout ce que je te commande.

 14 But in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.

15 Toutefois, tu pourras tuer et manger de la chair dans toutes tes portes, selon tout ce que ton âme souhaite, selon la bénédiction du SEIGNEUR ton Dieu, qu’il t’aura donnée ; celui qui sera souillé et celui qui sera net pourront en manger, comme on mange du chevreuil et du cerf.

 15 Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh in all thy gates, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the roebuck, and as of the hart.

16 Seulement vous ne mangerez pas le sang ; tu le verseras sur la terre comme de l’eau.

 16 Only ye shall not eat the blood; ye shall pour it upon the earth as water.

17 ¶ Tu ne pourras pas manger dans tes portes, la dîme de ton grain, ni de ton vin, ni de ton huile, ni les premiers-nés de tes troupeaux de bœufs et de brebis, ni aucun des vœux que tu auras voués, ni tes offrandes volontaires, ni l’offrande élevée de ta main.

 17 ¶ Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thine hand:

18 Mais tu devras les manger devant le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu, au lieu que le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu choisira, toi, et ton fils, et ta fille, et ton serviteur et ta servante, et le Levite qui est dans tes portes, et tu te réjouiras devant le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu en tout ce à quoi tu auras mis les mains.

 18 But thou must eat them before the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God in all that thou puttest thine hands unto.

19 Prends garde à toi, que tu n’abandonnes pas le Lévite tant que tu vivras sur la terre,

 19 Take heed to thyself that thou forsake not the Levite as long as thou livest upon the earth.

20 ¶ Quand le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu aura élargi ta frontière, comme il te l’a promis, et que tu diras : Je mangerai de la chair, parce que ton âme désire manger de la chair, tu pourras en manger de la chair, selon tout le désir de ton âme.

 20 ¶ When the LORD thy God shall enlarge thy border, as he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh, because thy soul longeth to eat flesh; thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.

21 Si le lieu que le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu aura choisi pour y mettre son nom est trop loin de toi, alors tu tueras de ton troupeau de bœufs et de brebis que le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu t’aura donné, comme je te l’ai commandé, et tu en mangeras dans tes portes, selon tout le désire de ton âme.

 21 If the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy herd and of thy flock, which the LORD hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.

22 Précisément comme on mange du chevreuil et du cerf, ainsi tu en mangeras ; tant celui qui sera souillé, que celui qui sera net en mangeront.

 22 Even as the roebuck and the hart is eaten, so thou shalt eat them: the unclean and the clean shall eat of them alike.

23 Seulement sois sûr de ne pas manger le sang ; car le sang est la vie, et tu ne mangeras pas la vie avec la chair.

 23 Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh.

24 Tu ne le mangeras pas ; tu le verseras sur la terre comme de l’eau.

 24 Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water.

25 Tu ne le mangeras pas, afin que tout soit bien avec toi, et avec tes enfants après toi, quand tu auras fait ce qui est droit aux yeux du SEIGNEUR.

 25 Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the LORD.

26 Seulement tu prendras les saintes choses qui sont à toi, et tes vœux, que tu prendras, et tu iras au lieu que le SEIGNEUR aura choisi ;

 26 Only thy holy things which thou hast, and thy vows, thou shalt take, and go unto the place which the LORD shall choose:

27 Et tu offriras tes offrandes brûlées, la chair et le sang, sur l’autel du SEIGNEUR ton Dieu ; et le sang de tes autres sacrifices sera versé sur l’autel du SEIGNEUR ton Dieu, et tu en mangeras la chair.

 27 And thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD thy God: and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.

28 Observe et entends toutes ces paroles que je te commande, afin que tout soit bien avec toi, et avec tes enfants après toi, à toujours, quand tu auras fait ce qui est bon et droit aux yeux du SEIGNEUR ton Dieu.

 28 Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.

29 ¶ Quand le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu aura retranché de devant toi les nations où tu vas pour les posséder, et que tu leur succèderas, et que tu demeureras dans leur pays,

 29 ¶ When the LORD thy God shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;

30 Prends garde à toi, de peur que tu ne sois pris au piège en suivant leur exemple, après qu’elles auront été détruites de devant toi, et que tu ne recherches leurs dieux, disant : Comment ces nations servaient-elles leurs dieux ? ainsi ferai-je aussi.

 30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

31 Tu ne feras pas ainsi au SEIGNEUR ton Dieu ; car tout ce qui est en abomination au SEIGNEUR, qu’il hait, ils l’ont fait à leurs dieux ; car même ils ont brûlé au feu leurs fils et leurs filles à leurs dieux.

 31 Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

32 Chaque chose que je vous commande, soyez surs de la faire : Tu n’y ajouteras rien, et n’en diminueras rien.

 32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
