1 C’est pourquoi tu aimeras le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu, et tu garderas sa charge, et ses statuts, et ses jugements et ses commandements.

 1 Therefore thou shalt love the LORD thy God, and keep his charge, and his statutes, and his judgments, and his commandments, alway.

2 Et sachez aujourd’hui, car je ne parle pas à vos enfants, qui n’ont pas connu et qui n’ont pas vu le châtiment du SEIGNEUR votre Dieu, sa grandeur, sa puissante main, et son bras étendu,

 2 And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the chastisement of the LORD your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,

3 Et ses miracles, et ses actes qu’il a faits au milieu de l’Égypte, au Pharaon le roi d’Égypte, et à tout son pays ;

 3 And his miracles, and his acts, which he did in the midst of Egypt unto Pharaoh the king of Egypt, and unto all his land;

4 Et ce qu’il a fait à l’armée d’Égypte, à ses chevaux et à ses chariots, comment il a fait déborder sur eux les eaux de la mer Rouge, lorsqu’ils vous poursuivaient, et comment le SEIGNEUR les a détruit, jusqu’à ce jour ;

 4 And what he did unto the army of Egypt, unto their horses, and to their chariots; how he made the water of the Red sea to overflow them as they pursued after you, and how the LORD hath destroyed them unto this day;

5 Et ce qu’il a fait pour vous dans le désert, jusqu’à ce que vous soyez parvenus en ce lieu ;

 5 And what he did unto you in the wilderness, until ye came into this place;

6 Et ce qu’il a fait à Dathan et à Abiram, les fils d’Eliab, fils de Reuben (Ruben) : comment la terre ouvrit sa bouche et les engloutit, avec leurs familles et leurs tentes, et tous les biens qui étaient en leur possession, au milieu de tout Israël.

 6 And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben: how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel:

7 Mais vos yeux ont vu tous les grands actes du SEIGNEUR lesquels il a faits.

 7 But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD which he did.

8 C’est pourquoi vous garderez tous les commandements que je vous commande aujourd’hui, afin que vous soyez fortifiés, et que vous entriez et possédiez le pays dans lequel vous allez pour le posséder ;

 8 Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day, that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it;

9 Et afin que vous puissiez prolonger vos jours dans le pays que le SEIGNEUR a juré à vos pères de leur donner, à eux et à leur semence, une terre qui ruisselle de lait et de miel.

 9 And that ye may prolong your days in the land, which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give unto them and to their seed, a land that floweth with milk and honey.

10 ¶ Car le pays dans lequel tu vas entrer pour le posséder n’est pas comme le pays d’Égypte d’où vous êtes sortis, où tu semais ta semence, et l’arrosais avec ton pied comme un jardin potager ;

 10 ¶ For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:

11 Mais le pays dans lequel vous allez pour le posséder est un pays de collines et de vallées, et il boit l’eau de la pluie du ciel.

 11 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven:

12 Un pays dont le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu a soin ; les yeux du SEIGNEUR ton Dieu sont toujours sur lui, depuis le commencement de l’année jusqu’à la fin.

 12 A land which the LORD thy God careth for: the eyes of the LORD thy God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.

13 Et il arrivera que si vous écoutez diligemment mes commandements que je vous donne aujourd’hui, d’aimer le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu et de le servir de tout votre cœur et de toute votre âme,

 13 ¶ And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,

14 Alors je s donnerai la pluie à votre pays en son temps, la première pluie et la dernière pluie, afin que tu puisses rassembler ton grain, et ton vin et ton huile.

 14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.

15 Et j’enverrai l’herbe dans tes champs, pour ton bétail, pour que tu puisses manger et être rassasié.

 15 And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.

16 Prenez garde à vous, afin que votre cœur ne soit pas séduit, et que vous ne vous détourniez, et ne serviez d’autres dieux, et que vous les adoriez ;

 16 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;

17 Et qu’alors la colère du SEIGNEUR ne s’enflamme contre vous, et qu’il ne ferme le ciel, en sorte qu’il n’y ait pas de pluie, et que le sol ne produise plus son fruit, et de peur que vous ne périssiez rapidement de dessus ce bon pays que le SEIGNEUR vous donne.

 17 And then the LORD’S wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.

18 ¶ C’est pourquoi vous mettrez mes paroles dans votre cœur et dans votre âme, et liez-les pour signe sur votre main, afin qu’elles puissent être comme des fronteaux entre vos yeux ;

 18 ¶ Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.

19 Et vous les enseignerez à vos enfants, en en parlant quand tu t’assiéras dans ta maison, quand tu marcheras le long du chemin, quand tu te coucheras et quand tu te lèveras.

 19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

20 Et tu les écriras sur les montants de la porte de ta maison et sur tes portes ;

 20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:

21 Afin que vos jours et les jours de vos enfants, sur la terre que le SEIGNEUR a juré à vos pères de leur donner, puissent être multipliés comme les jours du ciel sur la terre.

 21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.

22 ¶ Car si vous gardez diligemment tous ces commandements que je vous commande de faire, d’aimer le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu, de marcher dans tous ses chemins et de vous attacher à lui,

 22 ¶ For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;

23 Alors le SEIGNEUR chassera toutes ces nations de devant vous, et vous posséderez des nations plus grandes et plus puissantes que vous.

 23 Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.

24 Tout lieu où la plante de votre pied marchera sera à vous ; depuis le désert et le Liban, depuis le fleuve, le fleuve Euphrate, jusqu’à la mer la plus reculée, ce sera. votre territoire

 24 Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.

25 Aucun homme ne pourra subsister devant vous ; car le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu mettra la frayeur et la terreur de vous, sur tout le pays sur lequel vous marcherez, comme il vous l’a dit.

 25 There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.

26 ¶ Voyez, je mets aujourd’hui devant vous une bénédiction et une malédiction ;

 26 ¶ Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;

27 Une bénédiction, si vous obéissez aux commandements du SEIGNEUR votre Dieu, que je vous commande aujourd’hui ;

 27 A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:

28 Et une malédiction, si vous n’obéissez pas aux commandements du SEIGNEUR votre Dieu, et si vous vous détournez du chemin que je vous commande aujourd’hui, pour marcher après d’autres dieux que vous n’avez pas connus.

 28 And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.

29 Et il arrivera que quand le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu t’aura fait entrer dans la terre où tu vas, pour la posséder, tu publieras la bénédiction sur le mont Garizim et la malédiction sur le mont Ebal.

 29 And it shall come to pass, when the LORD thy God hath brought thee in unto the land whither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt put the blessing upon mount Gerizim, and the curse upon mount Ebal.

30 Ne sont-ils pas de l’autre côté du Jourdain, vers le chemin où le soleil se couche, dans le pays des Canaanites (Cananéens) qui demeurent dans la campagne, en face de Gilgal (Guilgal), près des plaines de Moreh (Moré) ?

 30 Are they not on the other side Jordan, by the way where the sun goeth down, in the land of the Canaanites, which dwell in the champaign over against Gilgal, beside the plains of Moreh?

31 Car vous allez passer le Jourdain, pour entrer et posséder la terre que le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu vous donne ; et vous la posséderez, et vous y demeurerez.

 31 For ye shall pass over Jordan to go in to possess the land which the LORD your God giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein.

32 Et vous prendrez garde à faire tous les statuts et tous les jugements que je mets devant vous aujourd’hui.

 32 And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I set before you this day.
