1 Et Moïse s’en alla, et dit ces paroles à tout Israël,

 1 And Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel.

2 Et il leur dit : Je suis aujourd’hui âgé de cent vingt ans ; je ne puis plus sortir et entrer, aussi le SEIGNEUR m’a dit : Tu ne passeras pas ce Jourdain.

 2 And he said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the LORD hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.

3 Le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu, lui-même passera devant toi, et il détruira ces nations de devant toi, et tu les posséderas ; et Joshua (Josué), lui, passera devant toi, comme le SEIGNEUR l’a dit.

 3 The LORD thy God, he will go over before thee, and he will destroy these nations from before thee, and thou shalt possess them: and Joshua, he shall go over before thee, as the LORD hath said.

4 Et le SEIGNEUR leur fera comme il a fait à Sihon et à Og, les rois des Amorites (Amoréens), et à leurs pays, qu’il a détruits.

 4 And the LORD shall do unto them as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites, and unto the land of them, whom he destroyed.

5 Et le SEIGNEUR les livrera devant votre face, pour que vous puissiez leur faire selon tous les commandements que je vous ai donnés.

 5 And the LORD shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you.

6 Soyez forts et plein de courage, n’ayez pas peur, et ne soyez pas effrayés à cause d’eux ; car le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu est celui qui marche avec toi ; il ne te délaissera pas, et ne t’abandonnera pas.

 6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

7 ¶ Et Moïse appela Joshua (Josué), et lui dit, devant tout Israël : Sois fort et plein de courage ; car tu dois aller avec ce peuple dans la terre que le SEIGNEUR a juré à leurs pères de leur donner, et toi tu la leur feras hériter.

 7 ¶ And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.

8 Et le SEIGNEUR, est celui qui marche devant toi ; il sera avec toi, il ne te délaissera pas, ni ne t’abandonnera ; n’aie pas peur, et ne sois pas effrayé.

 8 And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

9 ¶ Et Moïse écrivit cette loi, et la donna aux prêtres, les fils de Levi (Lévi), qui portaient l’arche de l’alliance du SEIGNEUR, et à tous les anciens d’Israël.

 9 ¶ And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and unto all the elders of Israel.

10 Et Moïse leur commanda, disant : À la fin de chaque septième année, en la solennité de l’année d’acquittement, à la fête des tabernacles,

 10 And Moses commanded them, saying, At the end of every seven years, in the solemnity of the year of release, in the feast of tabernacles,

11 Quand tout Israël sera venu pour comparaître devant le SEIGNEUR ton Dieu, au lieu qu’il aura choisi, tu liras cette loi devant tout Israël, à leur oreille.

 11 When all Israel is come to appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.

12 Rassemble le peuple, hommes, et femmes, et enfants, et ton étranger qui est dans tes portes, afin qu’ils puissent entendre, et qu’ils puissent apprendre et qu’ils craignent le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu, et à prendre garde de faire toutes les paroles de cette loi ;

 12 Gather the people together, men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:

13 Et que leurs enfants qui n’ont connaissance de quoi que ce soit, puissent entendre, et apprennent à craindre le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu, aussi longtemps que vous vivrez sur la terre pour laquelle vous traversez le Jourdain pour la posséder.

 13 And that their children, which have not known any thing, may hear, and learn to fear the LORD your God, as long as ye live in the land whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.

14 ¶ Et le SEIGNEUR dit à Moïse : Voici, tes jours où tu dois mourir approchent ; appelle Joshua (Josué), et présentez-vous dans le tabernacle de la congrégation, afin que je puisse lui donner sa charge. Et Moïse et Joshua (Josué) allèrent et se présentèrent dans le tabernacle de la congrégation.

 14 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.

15 Et le SEIGNEUR apparut, dans le tabernacle, dans une colonne de nuage ; et la colonne de nuage s’arrêta sur la porte du tabernacle.

 15 And the LORD appeared in the tabernacle in a pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle.

16 ¶ Et le SEIGNEUR dit à Moïse : Voici, tu vas dormir avec tes pères ; et ce peuple se lèvera, et se prostituera après les dieux des étrangers du pays où il va, pour être parmi eux, et il m’abandonnera, et rompra mon alliance, que j’ai faite avec lui.

 16 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.

17 Alors mon courroux s’enflammera contre lui en ce jour-là, et je les abandonnerai, et je cacherai d’eux ma face ; et ils seront dévorés, et beaucoup de maux et de détresses leur arriveront ; si bien qu’ils diront ce jour-là : N’est-ce pas parce que notre Dieu n’est plus parmi nous, que ces maux tombent sur nous ?

 17 Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?

18 Je cacherai certainement ma face en ce jour-là, à cause de tous les maux qu’ils auront faits, en ce qu’ils se seront tournés vers d’autres dieux.

 18 And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods.

19 Maintenant donc, écrivez ce cantique pour vous, et enseignez-le aux enfants d’Israël ; mets-le dans leur bouche, afin que ce cantique puisse m’être un témoignage contre les enfants d’Israël.

 19 Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel.

20 Car lorsque je les aurai amenés dans la terre où ruissèlent le lait et le miel, laquelle j’ai juré à leurs pères, et ils mangeront, et ils seront rassasiés et engraissés ; puis ils se tourneront vers d’autres dieux, et ils les serviront, et ils m’irriteront, et rompront mon alliance.

 20 For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant.

21 Et il arrivera, quand beaucoup de maux et de détresses leur arriveront, que ce cantique servira de témoignage contre eux, car il ne sera pas oublié de la bouche de leur semence ; car je connais leur imagination qui les accapare, avant même que je les ai amenés dans la terre que j’ai juré de lui donner.

21 And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware.

22 ¶ Ainsi Moïse écrivit ce cantique ce jour-là, et l’enseigna aux enfants d’Israël.

 22 ¶ Moses therefore wrote this song the same day, and taught it the children of Israel.

23 Et il le SEIGNEUR donna charge à Joshua (Josué), le fils de Nun, et dit : Sois fort et plein de courage ; car tu conduiras les enfants d’Israël dans la terre que je leur ai jurée, et je serai avec toi.

 23 And he gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I sware unto them: and I will be with thee.

24 ¶ Et il arriva, lorsque Moïse eut achevé d’écrire les mots de cette loi dans un livre, jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient achevés.

 24 ¶ And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,

25 Que Moïse commanda aux Lévites qui portaient l’arche de l’alliance du SEIGNEUR, disant :

 25 That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,

26 Prenez ce livre de la loi, et mettez-le sur le côté de l’arche de l’alliance du SEIGNEUR votre Dieu, afin qu’il puisse être là comme témoin contre toi.

 26 Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

27 Car je connais ta rébellion et ton cou obstiné ; voici, pendant que je suis encore aujourd’hui vivant avec vous, vous avez été rebelles contre le SEIGNEUR ; et combien plus le serez-vous après ma mort ?

 27 For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?

28 ¶ Faites assembler vers moi tous les anciens de vos tribus et vos officiers, afin que je puisse dire ces paroles à leurs oreilles, et j’appelle à le ciel et la terre à tenregistrer contre eux.

 28 ¶ Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them.

29 Car je sais qu’après ma mort, vous vous corromprez assurément et vous vous détournerez du chemin que je vous ai commandé et il vous arrivera du mal dans les jours à venir, parce que vous ferez ce qui est mal aux yeux du SEIGNEUR, en le provoquant au courroux par l’œuvre de vos mains.

 29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.

30 Et Moïse parla aux oreilles de toute la congrégation d’Israël les mots de ce cantique jusqu’à ce qu’ils soient achevés.

 30 And Moses spake in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended.
