1 Et Moïse répondit  et dit : Mais voici, ils ne me croiront pas et ils n’écouteront pas ma voix ; car ils diront : Le SEIGNEUR ne t’est pas apparu.

 1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.

2 Et le SEIGNEUR lui dit : Qu’est-ce dans ta main ? Il répondit : Un bâton.

 2 And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.

3 Et il, Dieu, dit : Jette-le par terre. Et il le jeta par terre, et il devint un serpent ; et Moïse s’enfuit devant lui.

 3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.

4 Et le SEIGNEUR dit à Moïse : Étends ta main et prends-le par la queue. Il étendit la main et l’attrapa et il devint un bâton dans sa main.

 4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:

5 Ce afin qu’ils puissent croire que le SEIGNEUR Dieu de leurs pères, le Dieu d’Abraham, le Dieu d’Isaac et le Dieu de Jacob t’est apparu.

 5 That they may believe that the LORD God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee.

6 ¶ Et le SEIGNEUR lui dit encore : Mets maintenant ta main dans ton sein. Et il mit sa main dans son sein : et quand il la retira, voici, sa main était lépreuse, blanche, comme la neige.

 6 ¶ And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.

7 Et il dit : Remets ta main dans ton sein. Et il remit sa main dans son sein ; et il la retira de son sein, et voici, elle était redevenue comme le reste de sa chair.

 7 And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh.

8 Et il arrivera, s’ils ne te croient pas et n’écoutent pas non plus la voix du premier signe, qu’ils croiront la voix du dernier signe.

 8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.

9 Et il arrivera, s’ils ne croient pas même ces deux signes et n’écoutent pas non plus ta voix, que tu prendras de l’eau de la rivière et la verseras sur la terre sèche et l’eau que tu auras prise de la rivière, deviendra du sang sur la terre sèche.

 9 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land.

10 ¶ Et Moïse dit au SEIGNEUR : Ô mon SEIGNEUR, je ne suis pas éloquent, ni d’hier, ni depuis que tu as parlé à ton serviteur ; car j’ai la parole lente et la langue lente.

 10 ¶ And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue.

11 Et le SEIGNEUR lui dit : Qui a fait la bouche de l’homme ? Ou qui a fait le muet, le sourd, le voyant ou l’aveugle ? N’ai-je pas moi, le SEIGNEUR ?

 11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?

12 Or va maintenant et je serai avec ta bouche et t’enseignerai ce que tu auras à dire.

 12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

13 Et il dit : Ô mon Seigneur, envoie, je te prie, par la main de celui que tu dois envoyer.

 13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.

14 Et le courroux du SEIGNEUR s’embrasa contre Moïse et il dit : Aaron, le Lévite, n’est-il pas ton frère ? Je sais qu’il peut bien parler. Et aussi, le voici il vient à ta rencontre, et quand il te verra, il se réjouira dans son cœur.

 14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he seeth thee, he will be glad in his heart.

15 Et tu lui parleras et tu mettras les paroles dans sa bouche ; et je serai avec ta bouche et avec sa bouche et je vous enseignerai ce que vous aurez à faire.

 15 And thou shalt speak unto him, and put words in his mouth: and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what ye shall do.

16 Et il sera ton porte-parole envers le peuple ; et il sera, c’est-à-dire il te sera au lieu de bouche, et tu seras pour lui au lieu de Dieu.

 16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the people: and he shall be, even he shall be to thee instead of a mouth, and thou shalt be to him instead of God.

17 Et tu prendras ce bâton dans ta main, avec lequel tu feras les signes.

 17 And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs.

18 ¶ Et Moïse s’en alla, et retourna vers Jethro (Jéthro), son beau-père, et lui dit : Laisse-moi partir, je t’en prie, et retourner vers mes frères qui sont en Égypte, pour voir s’ils vivent encore. Et Jethro (Jéthro) dit à Moïse : Va en paix.

 18 ¶ And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my brethren which are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.

19 Et le SEIGNEUR dit à Moïse, en Midian (Madian) : Va, retourne en Égypte ; car tous les hommes qui en voulaient à ta vie sont morts.

 19 And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.

20 Et Moïse prit sa femme et ses fils, les fit monter sur un âne et il retourna au pays d’Égypte. Et Moïse prit le bâton de Dieu dans sa main.

 20 And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.

21 Et le SEIGNEUR dit à Moïse : Quand tu t’en iras pour retourner en Égypte, veille à faire tous ces prodiges devant Pharaon lesquels j’ai mis dans ta main ; mais j’endurcirai son cœur, si bien qu’il ne laissera pas partir le peuple.

 21 And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go.

22 Et tu diras à Pharaon : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Israël est mon fils, c’est-à-dire mon premier-né ;

 22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn:

23 Et je te dis : Laisse mon fils partir, afin qu’il puisse me servir ; et si tu refuses de le laisser partir : voici, je tuerai ton fils, c’est-à-dire ton premier-né.

 23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn.

24 ¶ Et il arriva, en chemin, dans l’hôtellerie, que le SEIGNEUR vint à sa rencontre et chercha à le tuer.

 24 ¶ And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.

25 Alors Zipporah (Séphora) prit un caillou tranchant, coupa le prépuce de son fils, le jeta à ses pieds et dit : Assurément, tu m’es un époux sanglant.

 25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a bloody husband art thou to me.

26 Ainsi il le laissa partir : puis elle dit alors : Tu es un époux sanglant à cause de la circoncision.

 26 So he let him go: then she said, A bloody husband thou art, because of the circumcision.

27 ¶ Et le SEIGNEUR dit à Aaron : Va dans le désert à la rencontre de Moïse. Et il alla et le rencontra au mont de Dieu et l’embrassa.

 27 ¶ And the LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Moses. And he went, and met him in the mount of God, and kissed him.

28 Et Moïse raconta à Aaron toutes les paroles du SEIGNEUR qui l’avait envoyé et tous les signes qu’il lui avait commandé de faire.

 28 And Moses told Aaron all the words of the LORD who had sent him, and all the signs which he had commanded him.

29 ¶ Et Moïse et Aaron s’en allèrent et assemblèrent tous les anciens des enfants d’Israël.

 29 ¶ And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:

30 Et Aaron rapporta toutes les paroles que le SEIGNEUR avait dites à Moïse et fit les signes aux yeux du peuple.

 30 And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Moses, and did the signs in the sight of the people.

31 Et le peuple crut ; et quand ils entendirent que le SEIGNEUR avait visité les enfants d’Israël et qu’il avait vu leur affliction ; alors ils inclinèrent leurs têtes et adorèrent.

 31 And the people believed: and when they heard that the LORD had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped.
