1 Si un homme vole un bœuf, ou un mouton et le tue ou le vend, il restituera cinq bœufs pour un bœuf et quatre moutons pour un mouton.

 1 If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.

2 Si un voleur est pris en effraction et s’il est frappé et meurt, il n’y aura pas de sang versé pour lui.

 2 ¶ If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.

3 Si le soleil est levé sur lui, il y aura du sang versé pour lui ; car il faudra qu’il fasse une complète restitution ; s’il n’a pas de quoi, alors il sera vendu pour son vol.

 3 If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

4 Si ce qui a été volé est trouvé vivant en sa main, soit que ce soit bœuf, soit âne, soit mouton, il restituera le double.

 4 If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.

5 ¶ Si un homme fait manger un champ, ou une vigne, et laisse aller son bétail brouter dans le champ d’autrui, il restituera le meilleur de son champ et le meilleur de sa vigne.

 5 ¶ If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man’s field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.

6 ¶ Si le feu se déclare et atteint des épines et que des tas de grains, ou du grain sur pied, ou le champ, soient consumés, celui qui aura allumé le feu fera certainement restitution.

 6 ¶ If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.

7 ¶ Si un homme donne à son voisin de l’argent ou des objets à garder et qu’ils soient volés de la maison de cet homme ; si le voleur est trouvé, il paiera le double.

 7 ¶ If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man’s house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.

8 Si le voleur n’est pas trouvé, alors le maître de la maison sera amené devant les juges, pour voir s’il n’a pas mis sa main sur les biens de son voisin.

 8 If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods.

9 Dans toute sorte d’infraction, que ce soit pour un bœuf, pour un âne, pour un mouton, pour un vêtement ou pour nimporte quelle chose perdue, qu’un autre déclarera lui appartenir, l’affaire des deux parties viendra devant les juges ; et celui que les juges condamneront paiera le double à son voisin.

 9 For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.

10 Si un homme donne à garder à son voisin un âne, un bœuf ou un mouton, ou quelque bête que ce soit, et qu’elle meure, se blesse ou soit emmenée sans que personne le voie,

 10 If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:

11 Alors le serment du SEIGNEUR sera fait entre eux deux, à savoir s’il n’a pas mis sa main sur les biens de son voisin ; et son propriétaire acceptera le serment et il ne le dédommagera pas.

 11 Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.

12 Mais si ce bien lui a été volé, il fera restitution à son propriétaire.

 12 And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.

13 S’il a été mis en pièces, alors il l’apportera pour preuve ; et il ne dédommagera pas ce qui a été déchiré.

 13 If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.

14 ¶ Et si un homme a emprunté quelque chose de son voisin et qu’elle se blesse ou meure, son propriétaire n’étant pas avec elle, l’autre le dédommagera certainement.

 14 ¶ And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.

15 Mais si son propriétaire est avec elle, il n’aura pas à le dédommager ; si c’est une chose louée, c’est couvert par son louage.

 15 But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.

16 Et si un homme a séduit une jeune fille qui n’était pas promise et a couché avec elle, il faudra qu’il la dote et la prenne pour femme.

 16 ¶ And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.

17 Si son père refuse absolument de la lui donner, il lui paiera l’argent selon la dot des vierges.

 17 If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.

18 ¶ Tu ne laisseras pas vivre une sorcière.

 18 ¶ Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.

19 ¶ Quiconque couche avec une bête, sera certainement mis à mort.

 19 ¶ Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.

20 ¶ Celui qui sacrifie à tout autre dieu, si ce n’est qu’au SEIGNEUR seul, celui-là sera complètement détruit.

 20 ¶ He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

21 ¶ Tu ne vexeras pas l’étranger, ni ne l’opprimeras ; car vous étiez étrangers dans le pays d’Égypte.

 21 ¶ Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.

22 ¶ Vous n’affligerez aucune veuve ni aucun orphelin.

 22 ¶ Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.

23 Si tu les affliges en quoi que ce soit, et qu’ils crient à moi tant soit peu, certainement j’entendrai leur cri ;

 23 If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;

24 Et mon courroux s’intensifiera, et je vous tuerai par l’épée et vos femmes seront veuves et vos enfants sans père.

 24 And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.

25 ¶ Si tu prêtes de l’argent à quelqu’un de mon peuple qui est pauvre près de toi, tu ne te comporteras pas envers lui comme un créancier ; tu ne lui imposeras pas d’intérêt.

 25 ¶ If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.

26 Si tu prends en gage le vêtement de ton voisin, tu le lui rendras avant que le soleil se couche ;

 26 If thou at all take thy neighbour’s raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:

27 Car c’est sa seule couverture, c’est son vêtement pour sa peau ; dans quoi coucherait-il ? Et il arrivera quand il criera vers moi, que je l’entendrai, car je fais grâce.

 27 For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.

28 ¶ Tu n’insulteras pas les dieux, tu ne maudiras pas non plus le dirigeant de ton peuple.

 28 ¶ Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.

29 ¶ Tu ne différeras pas d’offrir les prémices de tes fruits mûrs, et de tes liqueurs ; tu me donneras le premier-né de tes fils.

 29 ¶ Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.

30 Tu feras de même de ton bœuf, et de ton mouton ; il sera sept jours avec sa mère, au huitième jour tu me le donneras.

 30 Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.

31 ¶ Et vous serez pour moi des hommes saints : vous ne mangerez aucune chair déchirée par des bêtes dans les champs ; vous la jetterez aux chiens.

 31 ¶ And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
