1 (21 :6) Et la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi, disant :

 1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

2 (21 :7) Fils de l’homme, dresse ta face vers Jérusalem, et laisse ta parole tomber vers les saints lieux, et prophétise contre le pays d'Israël.

 2 Son of man, set thy face toward Jerusalem, and drop thy word toward the holy places, and prophesy against the land of Israel,

3 (21 :8) Et dis au pays d'Israël : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Voici, j'en veux à toi, et je tirerai mon épée de son fourreau, et je retrancherai du milieu de toi le homme droit et le méchant.

 3 And say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I am against thee, and will draw forth my sword out of his sheath, and will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked.

4 (21 :9) D'autant que je retrancherai du milieu de toi l’homme droit et le méchant, à cause de cela mon épée sortira de son fourreau contre toute chair depuis le Sud jusqu'au Nord ;

 4 Seeing then that I will cut off from thee the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of his sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:

5 (21 :10) Afin que toute chair puisse savoir que moi, le SEIGNEUR, j'ai tiré l'épée de son fourreau ; elle n'y retournera plus.

 5 That all flesh may know that I the LORD have drawn forth my sword out of his sheath: it shall not return any more.

6 (21 :11) C'est pourquoi, soupire, toi, Fils de l’homme, en rompant tes reins ; soupire avec amertume devant leurs yeux.

 6 Sigh therefore, thou son of man, with the breaking of thy loins; and with bitterness sigh before their eyes.

7 (21 :12) Et il arrivera que, quand ils te diront : Pourquoi soupires-tu ? tu répondras : C'est à cause des nouvelles, car cela vient, et tout cœur fondra, et toutes les mains s'affaibliront, et tout esprit sera découragé, et tous les genoux deviendront comme l'eau : voici, cela vient, cela arrivera, dit le Seigneur DIEU.

 7 And it shall be, when they say unto thee, Wherefore sighest thou? that thou shalt answer, For the tidings; because it cometh: and every heart shall melt, and all hands shall be feeble, and every spirit shall faint, and all knees shall be weak as water: behold, it cometh, and shall be brought to pass, saith the Lord GOD.

8 ¶ (21 :13) De nouveau la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi, disant :

 8 ¶ Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

9 (21 :14) Fils de l’homme, prophétise, et dis : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Dis : L'épée, l'épée est aiguisée, et aussi fourbie :

 9 Son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD; Say, A sword, a sword is sharpened, and also furbished:

10 (21 :15) Elle est aiguisée pour faire un grand carnage ; elle est fourbie afin qu'elle brille : nous réjouirions-nous ? Elle méprise le bâton de mon fils, comme tout bois.

 10 It is sharpened to make a sore slaughter; it is furbished that it may glitter: should we then make mirth? it contemneth the rod of my son, as every tree.

11 (21 :16) Et il l'a donnée à fourbir, afin qu'on la prenne en main ; cette épée est aiguisée, et elle est fourbie pour la mettre dans la main du tueur.

 11 And he hath given it to be furbished, that it may be handled: this sword is sharpened, and it is furbished, to give it into the hand of the slayer.

12 (21 :17) Crie et hurle, Fils de l’homme, car elle sera sur mon peuple, elle sera sur tous les princes d'Israël, frayeurs de l'épée seront sur mon peuple ; c'est pourquoi frappe sur ta cuisse.

 12 Cry and howl, son of man: for it shall be upon my people, it shall be upon all the princes of Israel: terrors by reason of the sword shall be upon my people: smite therefore upon thy thigh.

13 (21 :18) Parce que c'est une épreuve, et que serait-ce si l'épée méprise même le bâton ? elle sera anéanti ! dit le Seigneur DIEU.

 13 Because it is a trial, and what if the sword contemn even the rod? it shall be no more, saith the Lord GOD.

14 (21 :19) Toi donc, Fils de l’homme, prophétise, et frappe tes mains ensemble, et que l'épée soit redoublée pour la troisième fois, l'épée des tués, c'est l'épée des grands hommes qui sont tués, qui pénètre jusque dans leurs secrètes chambres.

 14 Thou therefore, son of man, prophesy, and smite thine hands together, and let the sword be doubled the third time, the sword of the slain: it is the sword of the great men that are slain, which entereth into their privy chambers.

15 (21 : 20) J'ai mis la pointe de l'épée à toutes leurs portes, afin que leurs cœurs défaillent, et que leurs ruines soient multipliées ; Ah ! Elle est faite pour briller, elle est prête pour la tuerie.

 15 I have set the point of the sword against all their gates, that their heart may faint, and their ruins be multiplied: ah! it is made bright, it is wrapped up for the slaughter.

16 (21 :21) Va d'un côté ou de l'autre, vers la main droite, ou vers la gauche, n'importe où ta face est tournée.

 16 Go thee one way or other, either on the right hand, or on the left, whithersoever thy face is set.

17 (21 : 22) Je frapperai aussi mes mains ensemble, et je ferai reposer ma fureur : Moi, le SEIGNEUR, j'ai parlé.

 17 I will also smite mine hands together, and I will cause my fury to rest: I the LORD have said it.

18 ¶ (21 : 23) La parole du SEIGNEUR vint encore à moi, disant :

 18 ¶ The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,

19 (21 : 24) Et toi, Fils de l’homme, propose-toi deux chemins par où l'épée du roi de Babylone pourrait venir ; les deux partent d'un même pays ; et choisis-toi un endroit, choisi-le à l'entrée du chemin de la ville.

 19 Also, thou son of man, appoint thee two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come: both twain shall come forth out of one land: and choose thou a place, choose it at the head of the way to the city.

20 (21 :25) Désigne un chemin par lequel l'épée doit venir à Rabbath, des Ammonites, et contre Judah (Juda), à Jérusalem, la fortifiée.

 20 Appoint a way, that the sword may come to Rabbath of the Ammonites, and to Judah in Jerusalem the defenced.

21 (21 :26) Car le roi de Babylone s'est tenu à l'embranchement, à l'entrée des deux chemins pour consulter les devins ; il a poli ses flèches, il a interrogé les images, il a examiné le foie.

 21 For the king of Babylon stood at the parting of the way, at the head of the two ways, to use divination: he made his arrows bright, he consulted with images, he looked in the liver.

22 (21 :27) À sa main droite était la divination touchant Jérusalem, pour y établir des capitaines, pour ouvrir la bouche à la tuerie, pour élever la voix avec des retentissements bruyants, pour ranger les béliers contre les portes, pour élever des terrasses et bâtir des forts.

 22 At his right hand was the divination for Jerusalem, to appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to appoint battering rams against the gates, to cast a mount, and to build a fort.

23 (21 :28) Et cela leur sera comme une fausse divination à leurs yeux, à ceux qui ont juré par serments ; mais lui, rappellera le souvenir de leur iniquité, afin qu'ils soient pris.

 23 And it shall be unto them as a false divination in their sight, to them that have sworn oaths: but he will call to remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.

24 (21 :29) C'est pourquoi, Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Parce que vous avez fait revenir le souvenir de votre iniquité, en ce que vos transgressions sont découvertes, si bien que vos péchés paraissent dans toutes vos actions ; parce que, dis-je, que vous vous êtes souvenu, vous serez pris par la main.

 24 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have made your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are discovered, so that in all your doings your sins do appear; because, I say, that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.

25 ¶ (21 :30) Et toi, profane, méchant, prince d'Israël, dont le jour est venu, quand l'iniquité aura une fin,

 25 ¶ And thou, profane wicked prince of Israel, whose day is come, when iniquity shall have an end,

26 (21 :31) Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Ôte le diadème, et enlève la couronne ; ce ne sera plus celle-ci ; élève celui qui est abaissé, et abaisse celui qui est élevé.

 26 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Remove the diadem, and take off the crown: this shall not be the same: exalt him that is low, and abase him that is high.

27 (21 :32) Je la renverserai, renverserai, renverserai, et elle ne sera plus, jusqu'à ce qu'il vienne celui à qui en appartient le droit, et je le lui donnerai.

 27 I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.

28 ¶ (21 :33) Et toi, Fils de l’homme, prophétise, et dis : Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU, touchant les Ammonites et leur outrage. Dis : L'épée, l'épée sont tirées ; pour la tuerie elle est fourbie, pour consumer à cause de son éclat.

 28 ¶ And thou, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; even say thou, The sword, the sword is drawn: for the slaughter it is furbished, to consume because of the glittering:

29 (21 :34) Pendant qu'on voit pour toi la vanité, pendant qu'on devine pour toi le mensonge, afin qu'on te mette sur le cou de ceux qui sont tués, des méchants, dont le jour est venu, lorsque leur iniquité aura une fin.

 29 Whiles they see vanity unto thee, whiles they divine a lie unto thee, to bring thee upon the necks of them that are slain, of the wicked, whose day is come, when their iniquity shall have an end.

30 (21 :35) La remettrai-je dans son fourreau ? Je te jugerai dans le lieu où tu as été créé, dans le pays de ta naissance.

 30 Shall I cause it to return into his sheath? I will judge thee in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity.

31 (21 :36) Et je verserai mon indignation sur toi, je soufflerai contre toi le feu de ma colère, et je te livrerai en la main d'hommes brutaux, et experts à la destruction.

 31 And I will pour out mine indignation upon thee, I will blow against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliver thee into the hand of brutish men, and skilful to destroy.

32 (21 :37) Tu alimenteras le feu ; ton sang sera au milieu du pays, et l'on ne se souviendra plus de toi ; car moi, le SEIGNEUR, je l'ai dit.

 32 Thou shalt be for fuel to the fire; thy blood shall be in the midst of the land; thou shalt be no more remembered: for I the LORD have spoken it.
