1 Or il arriva en la septième année, au cinquième mois, le dixième jour, que quelques-uns des anciens d'Israël vinrent s'enquérir du SEIGNEUR, et ils s'assirent devant moi.

 1 And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the LORD, and sat before me.

2 Et la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi, disant :

 2 Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying,

3 Fils de l’homme, parle aux anciens d'Israël, et dis-leur : Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Êtes-vous venus pour vous enquérir de moi ? Comme je suis vivant, dit le Seigneur DIEU, je ne vous laisserai pas vous enquérir auprès de moi.

 3 Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.

4 Les jugeras-tu, Fils de l’homme, les jugeras-tu pas ? Fais-leur connaître les abominations de leurs pères.

 4 Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:

5 ¶ Et dis-leur : Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Au jour où je choisis Israël, et où je levai ma main à la semence de la maison de Jacob, et où je me suis fait connaître à eux dans le pays d'Égypte, où je levai ma main pour eux, en disant : Je suis le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu ;

 5 ¶ And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the LORD your God;

6 En ce jour-là même je leur levai ma main, pour les emmener hors du pays d'Égypte dans un pays que j'avais épié pour eux, pays coulant de lait et de miel, qui est la gloire de tous les pays.

 6 In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:

7 Et je leur dis : Que chacun de vous rejette de devant ses yeux les abominations, et ne vous souillez pas avec les idoles de l'Égypte ; je suis le SEIGNEUR, votre Dieu.

 7 Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.

8 Mais ils se rebellèrent contre moi, et ne voulurent pas m'écouter ; aucun d'eux ne rejeta les abominations de devant ses yeux, ni n'abandonna les idoles de l'Égypte ; alors je dis que je verserai ma fureur sur eux, j'accomplirai mon courroux contre eux au milieu du pays d'Égypte.

 8 But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.

9 Mais j'ai agi pour l'amour de mon nom, afin qu'il ne soit pas profané devant les païens, parmi lesquels ils étaient, et en présence desquelles je m'étais fait connaître à eux, en les emmenant hors du pays d'Égypte.

 9 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.

10 ¶ Je les fis donc sortir du pays d'Égypte, et les amenai au désert.

 10 ¶ Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.

11 Et je leur donnai mes statuts et leur montrai mes jugements, lesquels si un homme les accomplit, il vivra par eux.

 11 And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.

12 De plus je leur donnai aussi mes shabbats pour être un signe entre moi et eux, afin qu'ils sachent que je suis le SEIGNEUR, qui les sanctifie.

 12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.

13 Mais la maison d'Israël se rebella contre moi dans le désert ; ils ne marchèrent pas selon mes statuts et méprisèrent mes jugements, lesquels si un homme les accomplit, il vivra par eux, et ils profanèrent extrêmement mes shabbats. Puis je dis que je verserai ma fureur sur eux dans le désert, pour les consumer.

 13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

14 Mais j'ai agi pour l'amour de mon nom, afin qu'il ne soit pas profané devant les païens, en présence desquels je les avais emmenés hors d'Égypte.

 14 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.

15 Et même je leur levai aussi ma main dans le désert, que je ne les amènerais pas dans la terre que je leur avais donnée, terre coulant de lait et de miel, qui est la gloire de tous les pays :

 15 Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;

16 Parce qu'ils méprisèrent mes jugements, et ne marchèrent pas selon mes statuts, et profanèrent mes shabbats, car leur cœur allait après leurs idoles.

 16 Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

17 Toutefois mon œil les épargna, ne les détruisant pas ; et je ne les ai pas non plus achevés dans le désert.

 17 Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.

18 Mais je dis à leurs enfants dans le désert : Ne marchez pas selon les statuts de vos pères, n'observez pas non plus leurs jugements, et ne vous souillez pas non plus avec leurs idoles.

 18 But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:

19 Je suis le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu ; marchez selon mes statuts, et gardez mes jugements, et faites-les.

 19 I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;

20 Et sanctifiez mes shabbats, et ils seront un signe entre moi et vous, afin que vous sachiez que je suis le SEIGNEUR votre Dieu.

 20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

21 Cependant les enfants se rebellèrent contre moi ; ils ne marchèrent pas selon mes statuts, et ne gardèrent pas mes jugements pour les faire, lesquels si l'homme le fait, il vivra par eux ; ils profanèrent mes shabbats : et je dis que je répandrais ma fureur sur eux, et que j'accomplirais mon courroux contre eux dans le désert.

 21 Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.

22 Toutefois j'ai retiré ma main, et je l'ai fait pour l'amour de mon nom, afin qu'il ne soit pas profané devant les païens, en la présence desquelles je les avais fait sortir.

 22 Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.

23 Je leur levai aussi ma main dans le désert, que je les disperserais parmi les païens et que je les éparpillerais à travers les pays,

 23 I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries;

24 Parce qu'ils n'avaient pas exécuté mes jugements, et qu'ils avaient méprisé mes statuts, et profané mes shabbats et que leurs yeux étaient après les idoles de leurs pères.

 24 Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers’ idols.

25 À cause de cela je leur ai aussi donné des statuts qui n'étaient pas bons, et des jugements par lesquels ils ne vivraient pas.

 25 Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;

26 Et je les profanai en leurs propres dons, en ce qu'ils ont fait passer par le feu tout ce qui ouvre l'utérus, afin que je les mette en désolation, afin qu'ils sachent que je suis le SEIGNEUR.

 26 And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD.

27 ¶ C'est pourquoi, Fils de l’homme, parle à la maison d'Israël, et dis-leur : Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : En cela vos pères m'ont encore blasphémé en ce qu'ils ont commis une transgression contre moi.

 27 ¶ Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.

28 Car lorsque je les ai fait entrer dans la terre pour laquelle j'avais levé la main pour la leur donner, ils ont alors regardé chaque colline élevée et tous les arbres touffus, et là ils ont offert leurs sacrifices, et là ils ont présenté la provocation de leur offrande ; là aussi ils ont mis leur offrande d'agréable odeur, et y ont répandu leurs offrandes liquides.

 28 For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings.

29 Puis je leur ai dit : Qu'est-ce que ce haut lieu où vous allez ? Et son nom a été appelé Bamah jusqu'à ce jour.

 29 Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go? And the name thereof is called Bamah unto this day.

30 C'est pourquoi, dis à la maison d'Israël : Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : N'êtes vous pas profanés à la manière de vos pères ? et ne vous prostituez-vous pas après leurs abominations ?

 30 Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations?

31 Car quand vous offrez vos dons, quand vous faites passer vos fils par le feu, vous vous profanez avec toutes vos idoles, même jusqu'à ce jour : et vous vous enquériez de moi, ô maison d'Israël ? Comme je suis vivant, dit le Seigneur DIEU, vous ne vous enquerrez pas de moi.

 31 For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.

32 Et ce qui vient à votre pensée n'arrivera nullement, en ce que vous dites : Nous serons comme les païens, comme les familles des autres pays, en servant le bois et la pierre.

 32 And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.

33 ¶ Comme je suis vivant, dit le Seigneur DIEU, assurément avec une main forte, et avec un bras étendu, et avec une fureur répandue, je régnerai sur vous :

 33 ¶ As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you:

34 Et je vous ferai sortir d'entre les peuples, et je vous rassemblerai des pays dans lesquels vous avez été dispersés, avec une main forte, et avec un bras étendu et avec une fureur répandue.

 34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.

35 Et je vous amènerai dans le lieu inhabité des peuples, et là je contesterai avec vous face à face ;

 35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.

36 Comme j'ai contesté avec vos pères dans le lieu inhabité du pays d'Égypte, ainsi je contesterai avec vous, dit le Seigneur DIEU.

 36 Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD.

37 Et je vous ferai passer sous le bâton, et vous ramènerai sous le lien de l'alliance.

 37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:

38 Et je purgerai d'entre vous les rebelles et ceux qui transgressent contre moi ; je les ferai sortir du pays où ils séjournent, et ils n'entreront pas dans la terre d'Israël ; et vous saurez que je suis le SEIGNEUR.

 38 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

39 Quant à vous, ô maison d'Israël, ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Allez servir chacun vos idoles, et après cela, si vous ne voulez pas m'écouter, ne profanez plus mon saint nom par vos dons et par vos idoles.

 39 As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.

40 Car en ma sainte montagne, sur la montagne de l'apogée d'Israël, dit le Seigneur DIEU, là toute la maison d'Israël et tous ceux qui sont dans la terre me serviront : là je les accepterai, et là je demanderai vos offrandes, et les prémices de vos oblations, avec toutes vos choses saintes.

 40 For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.

41 Je vous accepterai avec votre offrande d'agréable odeur, quand je vous aurai fait sortir d'entre les peuples et rassemblés des pays dans lesquels vous aurez été dispersés, et je serai sanctifié en vous devant les païens.

 41 I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.

42 Et vous saurez que je suis le SEIGNEUR, quand je vous aurai amené dans la terre d'Israël, dans le pays pour lequel j'ai levé ma main pour le donner à vos pères.

 42 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers.

43 Et là, vous vous souviendrez de vos chemins et de toutes vos actions par lesquelles vous avez été souillés ; et vous serez peinés en vous-mêmes, à cause de tous vos maux que vous aurez commis.

 43 And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.

44 Et vous saurez que je suis le SEIGNEUR, quand j'aurai agi avec vous pour l'amour de mon nom, non pas selon vos mauvais chemins, ni selon vos actions corrompues, ô vous maison d'Israël, dit le Seigneur DIEU.

 44 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

45 ¶ (21 :1) De plus la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi, disant :

 45 ¶ Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

46 (21 :2) Fils de l’homme, dresse ta face vers le Sud, et laisse tomber ta parole vers le Sud, et prophétise contre la forêt du champ du Sud.

 46 Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field;

47 (21 :3) Et dis à la forêt du Sud : Entends la parole du SEIGNEUR : Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Voici, je vais allumer au-dedans de toi un feu, et il dévorera tout arbre vert et tout arbre sec au-dedans de toi ; la flamme flamboyante ne s'éteindra pas, et tous visages en seront brûlés depuis le Sud jusqu'au nord.

 47 And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.

48 (21 :4) Et toute chair verra que moi, le SEIGNEUR, je l'ai allumé ; il ne s'éteindra pas.

 48 And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled it: it shall not be quenched.

49 (21 :5) Puis je dis : Ah Seigneur DIEU ! ils disent de moi : Ne parle-t-il pas en paraboles ?

 49 Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?
