1 La parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi, disant :

 1 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,

2 Fils de l’homme, il y avait deux femmes, filles d'une même mère.

 2 Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother:

3 Et elles se prostituèrent en Égypte ; elles se prostituèrent dans leur jeunesse ; là leurs seins furent pressés, et là on meurtrit les mamelons de leur virginité.

 3 And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity.

4 Et leurs noms étaient Aholah, l'aînée, et Aholibah, sa sœur : et elles étaient à moi, et elles enfantèrent des fils et des filles. Leurs noms donc étaient : Samarie est Aholah et Jérusalem, Aholibah.

 4 And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.

5 Et Aholah se prostitua, bien qu'elle était à moi ; et elle s'éprit de ses amants, les Assyriens, ses voisins,

 5 And Aholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbours,

6 Qui étaient vêtus de bleu, capitaines et gouvernants, tous désirables jeunes hommes, des cavaliers montés sur des chevaux.

 6 Which were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses.

7 Ainsi elle se livra à ses prostitutions avec eux, qui tous étaient les hommes choisis d'Assyrie, et avec tous ceux dont elle s'était amourachée ; avec toutes leurs idoles, elle se souilla.

 7 Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, with all them that were the chosen men of Assyria, and with all on whom she doted: with all their idols she defiled herself.

8 Elle n'a pas renoncé non plus à ses prostitutions apportées d'Égypte ; car ils avaient couché avec elle dans sa jeunesse, et ils avaient meurtri les seins de sa virginité, et versé sur elle leur prostitution.

 8 Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their whoredom upon her.

9 C'est pourquoi je l'ai livrée en la main de ses amants, en la main des Assyriens, dont elle s'était amourachée.

 9 Wherefore I have delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted.

10 Ils ont découvert sa nudité ; ils ont enlevé ses fils et ses filles, et la tuèrent par l'épée : et elle est devenue renommée parmi les femmes, car ils ont exercé jugement sur elle.

 10 These discovered her nakedness: they took her sons and her daughters, and slew her with the sword: and she became famous among women; for they had executed judgment upon her.

11 Et quand sa sœur Aholibah vit cela ; elle fut plus corrompue qu'elle dans sa passion démesurée, et, dans ses prostitutions, elle a fait pire que sa sœur.

 11 And when her sister Aholibah saw this, she was more corrupt in her inordinate love than she, and in her whoredoms more than her sister in her whoredoms.

12 Elle s'est amourachée des Assyriens ses voisins, capitaines et gouvernants, vêtus plus que magnifiquement, cavaliers montés sur des chevaux, tous désirables jeunes hommes.

 12 She doted upon the Assyrians her neighbours, captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men.

13 Et je vis qu'elle s'était souillée, que toutes les deux suivaient le même chemin.

 13 Then I saw that she was defiled, that they took both one way,

14 Et encore a-t-elle augmenté ses prostitutions ; car ayant vu les peintures d'hommes sur la muraille, les images de Chaldéens peints en vermillon.

 14 And that she increased her whoredoms: for when she saw men pourtrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans pourtrayed with vermilion,

15 Ceints de ceintures autour de leurs reins, et sur leurs têtes des coiffures teintes en abondance, eux tous ayant l'apparence de princes, à la manière des Babyloniens de Chaldée, la terre de leur naissance.

 15 Girded with girdles upon their loins, exceeding in dyed attire upon their heads, all of them princes to look to, after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea, the land of their nativity:

16 Dès qu'elle les vit de ses yeux, elle s'amouracha d'eux, et envoya des messagers vers eux en Chaldée.

 16 And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea.

17 Et les Babyloniens vinrent vers elle dans le lit des amours, et ils l'ont souillée par leurs prostitutions, et elle s'est rendue impure avec eux, et sa pensée s'est détachée d'eux.

 17 And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their whoredom, and she was polluted with them, and her mind was alienated from them.

18 Elle a donc mis à nu ses prostitutions, et elle a découvert sa nudité, alors ma pensée se détacha d'elle, comme ma pensée s'était détachée de sa sœur.

 18 So she discovered her whoredoms, and discovered her nakedness: then my mind was alienated from her, like as my mind was alienated from her sister.

19 Cependant elle multiplia ses prostitutions, se souvenant les jours de sa jeunesse, où elle s'était prostituée dans le pays d'Égypte.

 19 Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, in calling to remembrance the days of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt.

20 Car elle s'amouracha de ces amants dont la chair est comme la chair des ânes, et dont le flux est comme le flux des chevaux.

 20 For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.

21 Ainsi tu rappelas à ton souvenir l'impudicité de ta jeunesse, lorsque les Égyptiens meurtrissaient tes mamelons, à cause des seins de ta jeunesse.

 21 Thus thou calledst to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth, in bruising thy teats by the Egyptians for the paps of thy youth.

22 ¶ C'est pourquoi, ô Aholibah, ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Voici, j'exciterai tes amants contre toi dont ta pensée s'est détachée, et je les amènerai de toute part contre toi :

 22 ¶ Therefore, O Aholibah, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side;

23 Les Babyloniens et tous les Chaldéens, Pekod, et Shoa et Koa, et tous les Assyriens avec eux, tous de désirables jeunes hommes, capitaines et gouvernants, grands seigneurs et renommés, tous montant à cheval.

 23 The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses.

24 Et ils viendront contre toi avec des chariots, des charrettes et des roues et une foule de peuples, qui placeront tout autour de toi boucliers et écus, et casques ; et je remettrai le jugement devant eux, et ils te jugeront selon leurs jugements.

 24 And they shall come against thee with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments.

25 Et je mettrai ma jalousie contre toi, et ils agiront contre toi avec fureur ; ils couperont ton nez et tes oreilles ; et ce qui restera de toi périra par l'épée ; ils enlèveront tes fils et tes filles, et ton reste sera dévoré par le feu.

 25 And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire.

26 Ils te dépouilleront aussi de tes vêtements, et enlèveront tes beaux joyaux.

 26 They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels.

27 Ainsi je ferai cesser en toi ton impudicité et ta prostitution apportée du pays d'Égypte ; ainsi tu ne lèveras plus tes yeux vers eux, et tu ne te souviendras plus de l'Égypte.

 27 Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy whoredom brought from the land of Egypt: so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more.

28 Car ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Voici, je te livrerai en la main de ceux que tu hais, en la main de ceux dont ta pensée s'est détachée.

 28 For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated:

29 Et ils agiront envers toi avec haine, et enlèveront tout ton travail, et te laisseront nue et découverte ; et la nudité de tes prostitutions sera découverte, à la fois ton impudicité et tes prostitutions.

 29 And they shall deal with thee hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

30 Je te ferai ces choses, parce que tu t'es prostituée auprès des païens, et parce que tu t'es rendue impure avec leurs idoles.

 30 I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols.

31 Tu as marché dans le chemin de ta sœur, c'est pourquoi je mettrai sa coupe dans ta main.

 31 Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thine hand.

32 Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Tu boiras de la coupe profonde et large de ta sœur; tu seras un objet de eidicule et l'on t’aura en détidion ; elle contient beaucoup.

 32 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much.

33 Tu seras remplie d'ivresse et de douleur ; par la coupe d'étonnement et de désolation, par la coupe de ta sœur Samarie.

 33 Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria.

34 Et même tu la boiras et la suceras, et tu en rongeras les morceaux, et tu arracheras tes seins : car j'ai parlé, dit le Seigneur DIEU.

 34 Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.

35 C'est pourquoi ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Parce que tu m'as oublié, et que tu m'as rejeté derrière ton dos, c'est pourquoi toi aussi porte ton impudicité et tes adultères.

 35 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.

36 ¶ De plus le SEIGNEUR me dit : Fils de l’homme, ne jugeras-tu pas Aholah et Aholibah ? Oui, déclare-leur leurs abominations.

 36 ¶ The LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man, wilt thou judge Aholah and Aholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations;

37 Qu'elles ont commis adultère, et il y a du sang à leurs mains ; elles ont commis adultère avec leurs idoles ; et ont même fait passer par le feu leurs fils qu'elles m'avaient enfantés, pour être dévorés.

 37 That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them.

38 Elles m'ont encore fait ceci, elles ont souillé mon sanctuaire ce même jour et profané mes shabbats ;

 38 Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths.

39 Car après avoir égorgé leurs enfants à leurs idoles, elles sont venues le même jour dans mon sanctuaire pour le profaner ; et voici ce qu'elles ont fait au milieu de ma maison.

 39 For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house.

40 Et qui plus est, elles ont fait chercher des hommes venant de loin ; auxquels un messager avait été envoyé ; et voici, ils sont venus : pour lesquels tu t'es lavée, tu as peint tes yeux, et tu t'es parée d'ornements.

 40 And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments,

41 Et tu t'es assise sur un lit imposant, devant lequel était dressée une table, sur laquelle tu as placé mon encens et mon huile.

 41 And satest upon a stately bed, and a table prepared before it, whereupon thou hast set mine incense and mine oil.

42 Et il y avait en elle le bruit d'une multitude apaisée ; et avec ces hommes-là, on a fait venir des Sabéens du désert, qui ont mis des bracelets sur leurs mains, et de magnifiques couronnes sur leurs têtes.

 42 And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.

43 Et j'ai dit à celle qui avait vieilli dans l'adultère : Commettront-ils maintenant leurs prostitutions avec elle, et elle avec eux ?

 43 Then said I unto her that was old in adulteries, Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them?

44 Toutefois on est venu vers elle, comme on vient vers une femme prostituée ; ils sont ainsi venus vers Aholah et Aholibah, ces femmes impudiques.

 44 Yet they went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that playeth the harlot: so went they in unto Aholah and unto Aholibah, the lewd women.

45 ¶ Et les hommes droits, eux, les jugeront comme on juge des femmes adultères, et comme on juge les femmes qui versent le sang, parce qu'elles sont adultères et du sang est sur leurs mains.

 45 ¶ And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.

46 Car ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Je ferai monter contre elles une multitude, et les ferai être déplacées et dévastées.

 46 For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will bring up a company upon them, and will give them to be removed and spoiled.

47 Et la multitude les poursuivra à coups de pierres, et les expédiera avec leurs épées ; ils tueront leurs fils et leurs filles, et brûleront leurs maisons par le feu.

 47 And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.

48 Ainsi je ferai cesser l'impudicité dans le pays, afin que toutes les femmes puissent apprendre à ne pas faire selon votre impudicité.

 48 Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness.

49 On vous rendra sur vous-mêmes votre impudicité, et vous porterez les péchés de vos idoles ; et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur DIEU.

 49 And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of your idols: and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
