1 De nouveau en la neuvième année, au dixième mois, au dixième jour du mois, la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi, disant :

 1 Again in the ninth year, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

2 Fils de l’homme, écris le nom du jour, de ce jour même ; le roi de Babylone s'est campé contre Jérusalem en ce jour même.

 2 Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.

3 Et énonce une parabole à la maison rebelle, et dis-leur : Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Place la marmite, place-la, et verses aussi de l'eau dedans.

 3 And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set it on, and also pour water into it:

4 Assemble ses morceaux dans elle, tous les bons morceaux, la cuisse et l'épaule, et remplis-la des meilleurs os.

 4 Gather the pieces thereof into it, even every good piece, the thigh, and the shoulder; fill it with the choice bones.

5 Prends le meilleur du troupeau, et fais cuire aussi des os dans le fond, et fais-la bien bouillir, et que les os bouillonnent au-dedans d'elle.

 5 Take the choice of the flock, and burn also the bones under it, and make it boil well, and let them seethe the bones of it therein.

6 ¶ C'est pourquoi ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Malheur à la ville sanglante, à la marmite dans laquelle est son écume, et de laquelle l'écume n'est pas sortie ! Retire morceau par morceau, que le sort ne soit pas jeté sur elle.

 6 ¶ Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city, to the pot whose scum is therein, and whose scum is not gone out of it! bring it out piece by piece; let no lot fall upon it.

7 Car son sang est au milieu d'elle ; elle l'a mis sur l'éminence d'un roc ; elle ne l'a pas versé sur la terre pour le couvrir de poussière.

 7 For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;

8 Pour faire monter la fureur afin d'en prendre vengeance, j'ai mis son sang sur l'éminence d'un roc, afin qu'il ne soit pas couvert.

 8 That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.

9 C'est pourquoi ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Malheur à la ville sanglante ! J'en ferai aussi un grand tas à brûler.

 9 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the bloody city! I will even make the pile for fire great.

10 Entasse du bois, allume le feu, consume la chair, et épice-la bien et laisse les os bouillir.

 10 Heap on wood, kindle the fire, consume the flesh, and spice it well, and let the bones be burned.

11 Puis place-la vide sur les charbons, afin que son cuivre s'échauffe, et brûle, et que son impureté puisse se fonde au-dedans, et que son écume soit consumée.

 11 Then set it empty upon the coals thereof, that the brass of it may be hot, and may burn, and that the filthiness of it may be molten in it, that the scum of it may be consumed.

12 Elle s'est lassée par des mensonges, et sa grosse écume n'est pas sortie d'elle son écume s'en ira au feu.

 12 She hath wearied herself with lies, and her great scum went not forth out of her: her scum shall be in the fire.

13 Il y a impudicité dans ton impureté ; d'autant que je t'avais purgée et tu n'as pas été purgée ; tu ne seras plus purgée de ton impureté jusqu'à ce que j'aie fait reposer ma fureur sur toi.

 13 In thy filthiness is lewdness: because I have purged thee, and thou wast not purged, thou shalt not be purged from thy filthiness any more, till I have caused my fury to rest upon thee.

14 Moi, le SEIGNEUR, j'ai parlé ; cela arrivera, et je le ferai ; je ne reculerai pas, et je n'épargnerai pas non plus, ni ne me repentirai. On te jugera selon ta conduite et selon tes actions, dit le Seigneur DIEU.

 14 I the LORD have spoken it: it shall come to pass, and I will do it; I will not go back, neither will I spare, neither will I repent; according to thy ways, and according to thy doings, shall they judge thee, saith the Lord GOD.

15 ¶ Et la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi, disant :

 15 ¶ Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

16 Fils de l’homme, voici, je vais t'ôter par une attaque cardiaque le désir de tes yeux ; mais tu ne mèneras pas deuil, et tu ne pleureras pas, et tes larmes ne couleront pas.

 16 Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down.

17 Cesse de pleurer, ne porte pas le deuil pour les morts ; attache ton ornement sur ta tête, mets tes chaussures à tes pieds, ne couvre pas tes lèvres et ne mange pas le pain des hommes.

 17 Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men.

18 Je parlai donc au peuple le matin ; et le soir, ma femme mourut ; et au matin je fis comme il m'avait été commandé.

 18 So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

19 ¶ Et le peuple me dit : Ne nous déclareras-tu pas ce que signifient ces choses pour nous que tu fais ainsi ?

 19 ¶ And the people said unto me, Wilt thou not tell us what these things are to us, that thou doest so?

20 Et je leur répondis : La parole du SEIGNEUR est venue à moi, disant :

 20 Then I answered them, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

21 Dis à la maison d'Israël : Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Voici, je vais profaner mon sanctuaire, l'excellence de votre force, le désir de vos yeux, et ce que votre âme affectionne, et vos fils et vos filles que vous avez laissés, tomberont par l'épée.

 21 Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will profane my sanctuary, the excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.

22 Vous ferez alors comme j'ai fait ; vous ne couvrirez pas vos lèvres, et vous ne mangerez pas le pain des hommes ;

 22 And ye shall do as I have done: ye shall not cover your lips, nor eat the bread of men.

23 Et vos ornements seront sur vos têtes, et vos chaussures à vos pieds ; vous ne mènerez pas deuil, et ne pleurerez pas ; mais vous dépérirez à cause de vos iniquités, et vous vous lamenterez les uns avec les autres.

 23 And your tires shall be upon your heads, and your shoes upon your feet: ye shall not mourn nor weep; but ye shall pine away for your iniquities, and mourn one toward another.

24 Ainsi, Ézéchielsera pour vous un signe, vous ferez selon tout ce qu'il a fait ; et quand cela arrivera, vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur DIEU.

 24 Thus Ezekiel is unto you a sign: according to all that he hath done shall ye do: and when this cometh, ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

25 Et toi, Fils de l’homme, n'arrivera-t-il pas au jour où je leur ôterai leur force, la joie de leur gloire, le désir de leurs yeux, et là où leurs pensées s'élèvent, leurs fils et leurs filles,

 25 Also, thou son of man, shall it not be in the day when I take from them their strength, the joy of their glory, the desire of their eyes, and that whereupon they set their minds, their sons and their daughters,

26 En ce jour-là, celui qui se sera échappé `ne viendra-t-il pas vers toi pour te le faire entendre à tes oreilles.

 26 That he that escapeth in that day shall come unto thee, to cause thee to hear it with thine ears?

27 En ce jour-là, ta bouche sera ouverte envers celui qui se sera échappé, et tu parleras, et ne seras plus muet ; et tu seras pour eux un signe, et ils sauront que je suis le SEIGNEUR.

 27 In that day shall thy mouth be opened to him which is escaped, and thou shalt speak, and be no more dumb: and thou shalt be a sign unto them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
