1 La parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi, disant :

 1 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,

2 Et toi, Fils de l’homme, prononce une lamentation sur Tyrus (Tyr).

 2 Now, thou son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyrus;

3 Et dis à Tyrus (Tyr) : Ô toi qui es située à l'entrée de la mer, qui es une ville marchande pour les peuples des îles nombreuses, ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Ô Tyrus (Tyr), tu as dit : Je suis d'une parfaite beauté.

 3 And say unto Tyrus, O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty.

4 Tes limites sont au milieu des mers, tes bâtisseurs ont rendu ta beauté parfaite.

 4 Thy borders are in the midst of the seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty.

5 Ils ont fait tous tes bordages en cyprès de Senir ; ils ont pris des cèdres du Liban pour te faire des mâts ;

 5 They have made all thy ship boards of fir trees of Senir: they have taken cedars from Lebanon to make masts for thee.

6 Avec Ies chênes de Bashan (Bassan) ils ont fait tes rames ; la troupe des Assyriens a fait tes bancs en ivoire, apporté des îles de Chittim.

 6 Of the oaks of Bashan have they made thine oars; the company of the Ashurites have made thy benches of ivory, brought out of the isles of Chittim.

7 Le fin lin d'Égypte, travaillé en broderie, a été ce que tu étendais pour t'en servir de voile ; Le bleu et la pourpre des îles d'Elishah étaient ce dont tu te couvrais.

 7 Fine linen with broidered work from Egypt was that which thou spreadest forth to be thy sail; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was that which covered thee.

8 Les habitants de Zidon (Sidon) et d'Arvad étaient tes matelots ; tes hommes sages, ô Tyrus (Tyr), qui étaient au milieu de toi, étaient tes pilotes.

 8 The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise men, O Tyrus, that were in thee, were thy pilots.

9 Les anciens de Gebal (Guébal) et ses hommes experts étaient au milieu de toi pour calfater ; tous les navires de la mer et leurs mariniers étaient au milieu de toi pour négocier ta marchandise.

 9 The ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy calkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy thy merchandise.

10 Ceux de Perse, de Lud, de Phut (Put) étaient dans ton armée, tes hommes de guerre, ils suspendaient chez toi le bouclier et le casque ; ils déployaient ta beauté.

 10 They of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army, thy men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee; they set forth thy comeliness.

11 Les hommes d'Arvad avec ton armée étaient tout autour de tes murailles ; et les Gammadims étaient dans tes tours ; ils suspendaient leurs boucliers tout autour de tes murailles ; ils ont rendu ta parfaite beauté.

 11 The men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and the Gammadims were in thy towers: they hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have made thy beauty perfect.

12 Tarshish (Tarsis) était ton agent à cause de l'abondance de toutes sortes de richesses, d'argent, de fer, d'étain et de plomb, ils négociaient à tes foires.

 12 Tarshish was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of all kind of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in thy fairs.

13 Javan, Tubal et Meshech (Méshec) étaient tes agents, ils faisaient échange d'hommes et d'ustensiles de cuivre en ton commerce.

 13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were thy merchants: they traded the persons of men and vessels of brass in thy market.

14 Ceux de la maison de Togarmah faisaient échange dans tes foires en chevaux, et en cavaliers et en mulets.

 14 They of the house of Togarmah traded in thy fairs with horses and horsemen and mules.

15 Les hommes de Dedan étaient tes agents ; tu avais en ta main le commerce de beaucoup d'îles, ils t'apportaient en paiement des cornes d'ivoire et de l'ébène.

 15 The men of Dedan were thy merchants; many isles were the merchandise of thine hand: they brought thee for a present horns of ivory and ebony.

16 La Syrie était ton agent à cause de la multitude de tes articles confectionnés ; ils commerçaient à tes foires en émeraudes, pourpre, en ouvrages brodés, et en fin lin, en corail et en agate.

 16 Syria was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of the wares of thy making: they occupied in thy fairs with emeralds, purple, and broidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and agate.

17 Judah (Juda) et le pays d'Israël étaient tes agents, ils échangeaient à tes foires du blé de Minnith, et de Pannag, du miel, de l'huile et du baume.

 17 Judah, and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants: they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.

18 Damas était ton agent pour la multitude de tes articles confectionnés, à cause de la multitude de toutes richesses ; en vin de Helbon et en laine blanche.

 18 Damascus was thy merchant in the multitude of the wares of thy making, for the multitude of all riches; in the wine of Helbon, and white wool.

19 Dan et Javan allaient ça et là commerçant à tes foires : du fer luisant, de la casse et de la canne aromatique étaient négociés sur ton marché.

 19 Dan also and Javan going to and fro occupied in thy fairs: bright iron, cassia, and calamus, were in thy market.

20 Dedan était ton agent en étoffes précieuses pour les chariots.

 20 Dedan was thy merchant in precious clothes for chariots.

21 L'Arabie et tous les princes de Kedar commerçaient avec toi les agneaux, et béliers et chèvres ; en ces choses ils étaient tes agents.

 21 Arabia, and all the princes of Kedar, they occupied with thee in lambs, and rams, and goats: in these were they thy merchants.

22 Les marchands de Sheba et de Raamah, eux étaient tes agents, ils commerçaient dans tes marchés de toutes sortes d'épices les plus exquises, et de toutes pierres précieuses et d'or.

 22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were thy merchants: they occupied in thy fairs with chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.

23 Haran, et Canneh et Eden, les marchands de Sheba, Asshur et Chilmad (Kilmad) étaient tes agents.

 23 Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad, were thy merchants.

24 Ceux-ci étaient tes agents en toutes sortes de choses, en étoffes bleues, et en ouvrages brodés, dans des coffres, liés de cordes et faits de bois de cèdre, parmi tes marchandises.

 24 These were thy merchants in all sorts of things, in blue clothes, and broidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords, and made of cedar, among thy merchandise.

25 Les navires de Tarshish (Tarsis) t'ont célébrée dans leurs chansons dans tes marchés, et tu as été remplie et rendue fort glorieuse au milieu des mers.

 25 The ships of Tarshish did sing of thee in thy market: and thou wast replenished, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas.

26 ¶ Tes rameurs t'ont amenée en de grosses eaux ; le vent d'Est t'a brisée au milieu des mers.

 26 ¶ Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the midst of the seas.

27 Tes richesses et tes foires, ta marchandise, et tes mariniers, et tes pilotes, tes calfateurs, et tes commerçants, et tous tes hommes de guerre qui sont en toi, et toute la multitude qui est au milieu de toi tomberont au milieu des mers, au jour de ta ruine.

 27 Thy riches, and thy fairs, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the occupiers of thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.

28 Les faubourgs trembleront au cri de tes pilotes.

 28 The suburbs shall shake at the sound of the cry of thy pilots.

29 Tous ceux qui manient la rame, les mariniers et tous les pilotes de la mer descendront de leurs navires et se tiendront sur la terre.

 29 And all that handle the oar, the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships, they shall stand upon the land;

30 Et feront entendre sur toi leur voix et crieront amèrement, et jetteront de la poussière sur leurs têtes, ils se vautreront dans la cendre.

 30 And shall cause their voice to be heard against thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall wallow themselves in the ashes:

31 Et ils se rendront complètement chauves à cause de toi ; ils se ceindront de sacs, et pleureront sur toi avec amertume de cœur et avec une complainte amère.

 31 And they shall make themselves utterly bald for thee, and gird them with sackcloth, and they shall weep for thee with bitterness of heart and bitter wailing.

32 Et dans leur complainte ils élèveront sur toi une lamentation, et se lamenteront sur toi, en disant : Quelle ville est comme Tyrus (Tyr), comme celle détruite au milieu de la mer ?

 32 And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, saying, What city is like Tyrus, like the destroyed in the midst of the sea?

33 Lorsque tes articles confectionnés sortaient au-delà des mers, tu as rassasié beaucoup de peuples ; tu as enrichi les rois de la terre par la multitude de tes richesses et de ton commerce.

 33 When thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many people; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise.

34 Au temps où tu seras brisée par les mers dans les profondeurs des eaux, ton commerce et toute ta multitude au milieu de toi tomberont.

 34 In the time when thou shalt be broken by the seas in the depths of the waters thy merchandise and all thy company in the midst of thee shall fall.

35 Tous les habitants des îles seront stupéfaits à ta vue, et leurs rois seront fort épouvantés, leur visage sera troublé.

 35 All the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at thee, and their kings shall be sore afraid, they shall be troubled in their countenance.

36 Les marchands parmi les peuples siffleront sur toi ; tu seras une terreur, et tu ne seras plus à jamais.

 36 The merchants among the people shall hiss at thee; thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt be any more.
