1 Au commencement Dieu créa le ciel et la terre.

 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 Et la terre était sans forme, et vide; et l'obscurité était sur la surface de l’abîme. Et l’Esprit de Dieu se mouvait sur la surface des eaux.

 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 Et Dieu dit, Qu’il y ait lumière : et il y eut lumière.

 3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

4 Et Dieu vit la lumière, que cela était bon : et Dieu sépara la lumière de l’obscurité.

 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

5 Et Dieu appela la lumière, Jour, et l'obscurité il appela Nuit. Et le soir et le matin furent le premier jour.

 5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

6 ¶ Et Dieu dit, Qu’il y ait un firmament au milieu des eaux, et qu’il sépare les eaux d'avec les eaux.

 6 ¶ And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

7 Et Dieu fit le firmament, et sépara les eaux, lesquelles étaient au-dessous du firmament d’avec les eaux, lesquelles étaient au-dessus du firmament : et il fut ainsi.

 7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

8 Et Dieu appela le firmament Ciel. Et le soir et le matin furent le second jour.

 8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

9 ¶ Et Dieu dit, Que les eaux au-dessous du ciel soient rassemblées en un seul lieu, et que la terre sèche paraisse : et il fut ainsi.

 9 ¶ And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

10 Et Dieu appela la terre sèche Terre ; et le rassemblement des eaux, il appela Mers : et Dieu vit que cela était bon.

 10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

11 Et Dieu dit, Que la terre produise l’herbe, la plante portant semence, et l’arbre fruitier portant du fruit suivant son espèce, dont la semence est en soi, sur la terre : et il fut ainsi.

 11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

12 Et la terre produisit l’herbe, et la plante portant semence suivant son espèce, et l’arbre portant du fruit, dont la semence était en soi, suivant son espèce: et Dieu vit que cela était bon.

 12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

13 Et le soir et le matin furent le troisième jour.

 13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

14 ¶ Et Dieu dit, Qu’il y ait des lumières dans le firmament du ciel pour séparer le jour de la nuit ; et qu’elles soient pour signes, et pour saisons, et pour jours, et années:

 14 ¶ And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 Et qu’elles soient des lumières dans le firmament du ciel pour donner la lumière sur la terre: et il fut ainsi.

 15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 Et Dieu fit deux grandes lumières ; la plus grande lumière pour gouverner le jour, et la plus petite lumière pour gouverner la nuit: il fit les étoiles aussi.

 16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17 Et Dieu les plaça dans le firmament du ciel pour donner la lumière sur la terre,

 17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18 Et pour gouverner sur le jour et sur la nuit, et pour séparer la lumière de l’obscurité: et Dieu vit que cela était bon.

 18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

19 Et le soir et le matin furent le quatrième jour.

 19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

20 Et Dieu dit, Que les eaux produisent en abondance les créatures mouvantes qui ont vie, et des volatiles qui puissent voler au-dessus de la terre dans le vaste firmament du ciel.

 20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

21 Et Dieu créa de grandes baleines, et toute créature vivante qui se meut, lesquelles les eaux produisirent en abondance, suivant leur catégorie, et tout volatile ailé suivant leur catégorie: et Dieu vit que cela était bon.

 21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

22 Et Dieu les bénit, disant, Soyez féconds, et multipliez, et remplissez les eaux dans les mers, et que les volatiles se multiplient sur la terre.

 22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

23 Et le soir et le matin furent le cinquième jour.

 23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

24 ¶ Et Dieu dit, Que la terre produise la créature vivante suivant leur catégorie, bétail, et êtres rampants et les bêtes de la terre suivant leur catégorie: et il fut ainsi.

 24 ¶ And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

25 Et Dieu fit les bêtes de la terre suivant leur catégorie, et le bétail suivant leur catégorie, et tout être qui rampe sur la terre selon leur catégorie : et Dieu vit que cela était bon.

 25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

26 ¶ Et Dieu dit, Faisons l’homme à notre image, d’après notre ressemblance: et qu’ils aient domination sur les poissons de la mer, et sur les volatiles, et sur le bétail, et sur toute la terre, et sur chaque être rampant qui rampe sur la terre.

 26 ¶ And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 Ainsi Dieu créa l’homme en sa propre image ; en l’image de Dieu le créa-t-il ; mâle et femelle il les créa.

 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

28 Et Dieu les bénit, et Dieu leur dit, Soyez féconds, et multipliez, et remplissez la terre de nouveau, et assujettissez-la: et ayez domination sur les poissons de la mer et sur les volatiles dans l'air, et sur tout être vivant qui se meut sur la terre.

 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

29 ¶ Et Dieu dit, Voici je vous ai donné toute plante portant semence, laquelle est sur la surface de toute la terre, et tout arbre, dans lequel il y a le fruit d’un arbre portant semence ; à ceci doit vous être pour nourriture.

 29 ¶ And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30 Et à toute bête de la terre, et à tout volatiles dans l’air, et à tout être qui rampe sur la terre, dans lequel il y a vie, j’ai donné toute plante verte pour nourriture: et il fut ainsi.

 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

31 Et Dieu vit chaque chose qu’il avait faite, et, voici, c’était très bon. Et le soir et le matin furent le sixième jour.

 31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
