1 Puis Abraham prit encore une femme, et son nom était Keturah.

 1 Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.

2 Et elle lui enfanta Zimran, et Jokshan, et Medan, et Midian, et Ishbak, et Shuah.

 2 And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.

3 Et Jokshan engendra Sheba et Dedan. Et les fils de Dedan furent Asshurim, Letushim et Leümmim.

 3 And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.

4 Et les fils de Midian ; Ephah, et Epher, et Hanoch, et Abidah, et Eldaah. Tous ceux-là furent les enfants de Keturah.

 4 And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.

5 ¶ Et Abraham donna tout ce qu’il avait à Isaac.

 5 ¶ And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.

6 Mais aux fils des concubines, qu’eut Abraham, Abraham donna des dons et les envoya loin de son fils Isaac, pendant qu’il était encore en vie, vers l’Est, à l’est du pays.

 6 But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.

7 Et ce sont les jours des années de la vie d’Abraham, laquelle il vécut cent soixante-quinze ans.

 7 And these are the days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.

8 Puis Abraham rendit l’esprit et mourut dans une bien bonne vieillesse, un homme âgé et comblé d’années ; et fut recueilli vers son peuple.

 8 Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.

9 Et ses fils Isaac et Ishmael l’enterrèrent dans la caverne de Machpelah, dans le champ d’Ephron, le fils de Zohar le Hittite, lequel est en face de Mamre ;

 9 And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

10 Le champ qu’Abraham avait acheté des fils de Heth: là fut enterré Abraham, et Sarah sa femme.

 10 The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.

11 ¶ Et il arriva après la mort d’Abraham, que Dieu bénit son fils Isaac ; et Isaac demeurait près du puits de Lahairoi.

 11 ¶ And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.

12 ¶ À présent celles-ci sont les générations d’Ishmael, fils d’Abraham, qu’Agar, l’Égyptienne, la suivante de Sarah, enfanta à Abraham.

 12 ¶ Now these are the generations of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s handmaid, bare unto Abraham:

13 Et ceux-ci sont les noms des fils d’Ismaël, par leurs noms selon leurs générations: le premier-né d’Ismaël, Nebajoth ; et Kedar, et Abdeel, et Mibsam,

 13 And these are the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,

14 Et Mishma, et Dumah, et Massa,

 14 And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,

15 Hadar, et Tema, Jetur, Naphish et Kedemah:

 15 Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:

16 Ceux-ci sont les fils d’Ismaël, et ceux-ci sont leurs noms, selon leurs villes, et selon leurs châteaux ; douze princes de leurs nations.

 16 These are the sons of Ishmael, and these are their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.

17 Et celles-ci sont les années de la vie d’Ismaël: cent trente-sept ans ; et il rendit l’esprit et mourut, et fut recueilli vers son peuple.

 17 And these are the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.

18 Et ils demeurèrent depuis Havilah jusqu’à Shur, qui est face à l’Égypte, quand tu vas vers l’Assyrie: et il mourut en la présence de tous ses frères.

 18 And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that is before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria: and he died in the presence of all his brethren.

19 ¶ Et celles-ci sonti les générations d’Isaac, fils d’Abraham: Abraham engendra Isaac:

 19 ¶ And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son: Abraham begat Isaac:

20 Et Isaac était âgé de quarante ans lorsqu’il prit Rebekah pour femme, la fille de Bethuel le Syrien, de Padan-aram, la sœur de Laban, le Syrien.

 20 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.

21 Et Isaac implora le SEIGNEUR pour sa femme, parce qu’elle était stérile: et le SEIGNEUR fut imploré par lui, et Rebekah sa femme conçut.

 21 And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

22 Et les enfants luttaient en elle ;–– et elle dit: Si ceci doit être, pourquoi suis-je ainsi ? Et elle alla s’enquérir auprès du SEIGNEUR.

 22 And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.

23 Et le SEIGNEUR lui dit, Deux nations sont dans ton utérus, et deux sortes de peuples seront séparés de tes entrailles ; et un peuple sera plus fort que l’autre peuple ; et l’aîné servira le plus jeune.

 23 And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.

24 ¶ Et lorsque ses jours pour être délivrée furent accomplis, voici, il y avait des jumeaux dans son utérus.

 24 ¶ And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.

25 Et le premier sortit roux, tout couvert comme un vêtement velu ; et ils appelèrent son nom Esau.

 25 And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.

26 Et après cela sortit son frère, et sa main saisissait le talon d’Esaü ; et son nom fut appelé Jacob: et Isaac était âgé de soixante ans lorsqu’elle les enfanta.

 26 And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac was threescore years old when she bare them.

27 Et les garçons grandirent: et Esaü était un habile chasseur, un homme des champs ; et Jacob était un homme simple, demeurant dans les tentes.

 27 And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents.

28 Et Isaac aimait Esau, parce qu’il mangeait de sa venaison: mais Rebekah aimait Jacob.

 28 And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.

29 ¶ Et Jacob faisait du potage: et Esaü vint des champs, et il était défaillant.

 29 ¶ And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:

30 Et Esaü dit à Jacob: Nourris-moi, je te prie, de ce potage roux ; car je suis défaillant: pour cette raison son nom fut Édom.

 30 And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.

31 Et Jacob dit: Vends-moi aujourd’hui ton droit d’aînesse.

 31 And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.

32 Et Esaü dit: Voici, je suis sur le point de mourir: et quel profit m’apportera ce droit d’aînesse ?

 32 And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?

33 Et Jacob dit: Jure-moi aujourd’hui ; et il lui jura: et il vendit son droit d’aînesse à Jacob.

 33 And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

34 Puis Jacob donna à Esaü du pain et du potage de lentilles ; et il mangea et but ; et se leva et s’en alla: ainsi Esaü méprisa son droit d’aînesse.

 34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.
