1 Entendez la parole du SEIGNEUR, vous, enfants d’Israël, car le SEIGNEUR a un débat avec les habitants du pays, parce qu’il n’y a ni vérité, ni miséricorde, ni connaissance de Dieu dans le pays.

 1 Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

2 Malédiction, et mensonge, et meurtre, vol et adultère jaillissent et le sang touche le sang.

 2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

3 C’est pourquoi le pays sera dans le deuil, et tout homme qui y demeure deviendra faible, ainsi que les bêtes des champs et les oiseaux du ciel ; même les poissons de la mer seront emportés.

 3 Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

4 Toutefois que nul ne débatte, ni ne reprenne un autre car ton peuple est comme ceux qui débattent avec le prêtre.

 4 Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest.

5 Tu tomberas donc en plein jour, et le prophète aussi tombera avec toi de nuit, et je détruirai ta mère.

 5 Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother.

6 ¶ Mon peuple est détruit, par manque de connaissance, parce que tu as rejeté la connaissance, de même je te rejetterai, afin que tu ne me sois plus prêtre, puisque tu as oublié la loi de ton Dieu, moi aussi j’oublierai tes enfants.

 6 ¶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

7 À mesure qu’ils se sont accrus, ils ont péché contre moi c’est pourquoi je changerai leur gloire en honte.

 7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

8 Ils mangent le péché de mon peuple ; et ils incitent leur cœur à l’iniquité.

 8 They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity.

9 Et il en sera du prêtre comme du peuple ; je les punirai selon leurs chemins et leur rendrai selon leurs actions.

 9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.

10 Et ils mangeront, et ne seront pas rassasiés ; ils se prostitueront, et ne s’accroîtront pas parce qu’ils ont cessé de prendre garde au SEIGNEUR.

10 For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.

11 La prostitution, le vin et le vin nouveau ôtent le cœur.

 11 Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

12 ¶ Mon peuple demande conseil à ses souches des arbres, et son bâton lui répond ; car l’esprit de prostitution les a fait errer, et ils se sont prostitués en se soustrayant à leur Dieu.

 12 ¶ My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.

13 Ils sacrifient sur le sommet des montagnes, et brûlent de l’encens sur les collines, sous les chênes, les peupliers, et les ormes, parce que leur ombre est bonne ; c’est pourquoi vos filles se prostitueront, et vos femmes commettront adultère.

 13 They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.

14 Je ne punirai pas vos filles quand elles se prostitueront, ni vos femmes quand elles commettront adultère car ils se sont séparés d’avec les prostituées, et sacrifient avec des prostituées ; c’est pourquoi le peuple qui n’a pas d’intelligence, sera détruit.

 14 I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people that doth not understand shall fall.

15 ¶ Si toi, Israël, tu te prostitues, au moins que Judah ne se rende pas coupable ; et n’entrez pas à Gilgal (Guilgal), et ne montez pas non plus à Bethaven, et ne jurez pas Le SEIGNEUR est vivant.

 15 ¶ Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, yet let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.

16 Car Israël glisse à la dérive comme une génisse récalcitrante, maintenant le SEIGNEUR les nourrira comme un agneau dans un lieu spacieux.

 16 For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.

17 Ephraim (Éphraïm) s’est associé aux idoles laisse-le.

 17 Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone.

18 Leur boisson est devenue aigre ; ils n’ont fait que se prostituer ; ses chefs Israël aiment à dire avec ignominie, Apporte.

 18 Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers with shame do love, Give ye.

19 Le vent l’a enserré dans ses ailes, et ils auront honte de leurs sacrifices.

 19 The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
