1 Et il arriva, dans les jours d'Ahaz (Achaz), fils de Jotham, fils d'Uzziah (Ozias), roi de Judah, que Rezin (Retsin), roi de Syrie, et Pekah (Pékach), fils de Remaliah (Rémalia), roi d'Israël, montèrent contre Jérusalem pour lui faire la guerre ; mais ils ne purent l'emporter contre elle.

 1 And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

2 Et on rapporta à la maison de David, disant : La Syrie s'est confédérée avec Ephraim (Éphraïm) (Ephraim (Éphraïm)). Et son cœur fut ébranlé ainsi que le cœur de son peuple, comme les arbres de la forêt sont ébranlés par le vent.

 2 And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.

3 Puis le SEIGNEUR dit à Isaiah (Ésaïe) : Sors à la rencontre d'Ahaz (Achaz), toi et Shearjashub, ton fils, au bout de l'aqueduc de l'étang supérieur, vers la route du champ du foulon.

 3 Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field;

4 Et dis-lui : Prends garde, et sois tranquille ; n'aie pas peur, et que ton cœur ne défaille pas à cause de ces deux bouts de tisons fumants, à cause de l'ardeur du courroux de Rezin (Retsin), de la Syrie et du fils de Remaliah (Rémalia),

 4 And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

5 Parce que la Syrie avec Ephraim (Éphraïm) et le fils de Remaliah (Rémalia), ont pris conseil de te faire du mal, disant :

 5 Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,

6 Montons contre Judah, et contrarions-la et faisons-y une brèche pour nous, et établissons un roi au milieu d'elle, c'est-à-dire le fils de Tabeal ;

 6 Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:

7 Ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU : Cela ne tiendra pas, cela n'arrivera pas.

 7 Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

8 Car la tête de la Syrie, c'est Damas ; et la tête de Damas, c'est Rezin (Retsin) ; et dans soixante-cinq ans, Ephraim (Éphraïm) sera brisé et ne sera plus un peuple.

 8 For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.

9 Et la tête d'Ephraim (Éphraïm), c'est Samarie ; et la tête de Samarie c'est le fils de Remaliah. Si vous ne croyez pas ceci, certainement vous ne serez pas affermis.

 9 And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

10 ¶ Le SEIGNEUR parla encore à Ahaz (Achaz), disant :

 10 ¶ Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying,

11 Demande un signe au SEIGNEUR ton Dieu ; demande-le soit dans les lieux bas, soit dans les hauteurs au-dessus.

 11 Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.

12 Et Ahaz (Achaz) dit : Je ne demanderai pas, et je ne tenterai pas le SEIGNEUR.

 12 But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.

13 Et Isaiah (Ésaïe) dit : Écoutez, ô maison de David ; est-ce peu de chose pour vous de fatiguer les hommes, et que vous lassiez aussi mon Dieu ?

 13 And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

14 C'est pourquoi le Seigneur lui-même vous donnera un signe Voici, une vierge concevra et elle enfantera un fils, et appellera son nom Emmanuel.

 14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

15 Il mangera du beurre et du miel, pour qu'il puisse savoir refuser le mal et choisir le bien.

 15 Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

16 Car avant que l'enfant sache refuser le mal et choisir le bien, le pays que tu as en horreur sera abandonné de ses deux rois.

 16 For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

17 ¶ Le SEIGNEUR fera venir sur toi, sur ton peuple et sur la maison de ton père, des jours qui ne sont pas venus depuis le jour qu'Ephraim (Éphraïm) partit de Judah, c'est-à-dire le roi d'Assyrie.

 17 ¶ The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father’s house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.

18 Et il arrivera, qu'en ce jour-là, le SEIGNEUR sifflera pour la mouche qui est dans la partie la plus éloignée des fleuves d'Égypte, et pour l'abeille qui est dans le pays d'Assyrie.

 18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

19 Et elles viendront et se poseront toutes dans les vallées désertes, et dans les fentes des rochers, et sur toutes les broussailles d'épines et sur tous les buissons

 19 And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes.

20 En ce jour-là, le Seigneur rasera avec un rasoir qu'il aura loué spécifiquement, par ceux au-delà du fleuve, avec le roi d'Assyrie, la tête et les poils des pieds, et il enlèvera aussi la barbe.

 20 In the same day shall the Lord shave with a razor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.

21 Et il arrivera en ce jour-là, qu'un homme nourrira une jeune vache et deux moutons ;

 21 And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep;

22 Et il arrivera que pour l'abondance du lait qu'elles donneront, il mangera du beurre ; car tous ceux qui seront laissés dans le pays, mangeront du beurre et du miel.

 22 And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.

23 Et il arrivera en ce jour-là, que tout lieu où il y avait mille ceps de vigne de mille pièces d'argent, il y aura dis-je ronces et épines.

 23 And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, it shall even be for briers and thorns.

24 On y viendra avec flèches et arcs ; parce que tout le pays ne sera que ronces et épines.

 24 With arrows and with bows shall men come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.

25 Et sur toutes les collines que l'on bêchait à la pioche, là ne viendra plus la crainte des ronces et des épines ; mais ce sera pour y envoyer les bœufs, et pour être piétiné par le menu bétail.

 25 And on all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle.
