1 Malheur, dit le SEIGNEUR, aux enfants rebelles qui prennent conseil, mais non de moi, qui se mettent sous protection, mais non par mon esprit, afin d'ajouter péché sur péché ;

 1 Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:

2 Qui marchent pour descendre en Égypte, sans avoir interrogé ma bouche ; afin de se fortifier sous la puissance de Pharaon, et de se confier dans l'ombre de l'Égypte !

 2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

3 C'est pourquoi la puissance de Pharaon sera votre honte, et la confiance dans l'ombre de l'Égypte, sera votre confusion.

 3 Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.

4 Car ses princes étaient à Zoan (Tsoan) et ses ambassadeurs allèrent à Hanès,

 4 For his princes were at Zoan, and his ambassadors came to Hanes.

5 Ils ont été tous honteux d'un peuple qui ne leur était d'aucun avantage, ni pour secours, ni pour aucun profit, mais une honte, et aussi une infamie.

 5 They were all ashamed of a people that could not profit them, nor be an help nor profit, but a shame, and also a reproach.

6 La charge des bêtes du Sud ; par un pays de détresse et d’angoisse, d’où viennent le jeune 5et le vieux lion, la vipère et le serpent brûlant qui vole ; ils porteront leurs richesses sur le dos des ânes, et leurs trésors sur les bosses des chameaux, vers un peuple qui ne leur sera d’aucun aprofit.

 6 The burden of the beasts of the south: into the land of trouble and anguish, from whence come the young and old lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent, they will carry their riches upon the shoulders of young asses, and their treasures upon the bunches of camels, to a people that shall not profit them.

7 Car les Égyptiens aideront en vain et sans effet ; c'est pourquoi j'ai crié concernant ceci : Leur puissance est de se tenir tranquilles.

 7 For the Egyptians shall help in vain, and to no purpose: therefore have I cried concerning this, Their strength is to sit still.

8 Maintenant va, écris-le devant eux sur un tableau, et inscris-le dans un livre, afin que cela puisse être pour le temps à venir, pour toujours et toujours ;

 8 ¶ Now go, write it before them in a table, and note it in a book, that it may be for the time to come for ever and ever:

9 Que c'est ici un peuple rebelle, des enfants menteurs, des enfants qui ne veulent pas entendre la loi du SEIGNEUR ;

 9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD:

10 Qui disent aux voyants : Ne voyez pas, et aux prophètes Ne nous prophétisez pas des choses droites, dites-nous des choses agréables, prophétisez des tromperies.

 10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

11 Sortez du chemin, détournez-vous du sentier, faites cesser le Saint d'Israël de devant nous.

 11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

12 C'est pourquoi, ainsi dit le Saint d'Israël : Parce que vous méprisez cette parole, et que vous vous confiez dans l'oppression et dans la perversité, et que vous vous appuyez dessus ;

 12 Wherefore thus saith the Holy One of Israel, Because ye despise this word, and trust in oppression and perverseness, and stay thereon:

13 C’est pourquoi, cette iniquité sera pour vous comme une brèche prête à tomber, un renflement dans un mur élevé, et qui s'écroule tout à coup, en un instant.

 13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant.

14 Et il se brisera comme on brise en morceaux le vase du potier, il ne l'épargnera pas si bien qu'on ne trouvera pas un tesson pour prendre du feu au foyer, ou pour puiser de l'eau d'une fosse.

 14 And he shall break it as the breaking of the potters’ vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found in the bursting of it a sherd to take fire from the hearth, or to take water withal out of the pit.

15 Car ainsi dit le Seigneur DIEU, le Saint d’Israël : En revenant et en prenant du repos vous serez sauvés ; dans la tranquillité et dans la confiance sera votre puissance ; mais vous ne le voulez pas.

 15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.

16 Et vous avez dit : Non ; car nous nous enfuirons sur des chevaux ; c'est pourquoi vous vous enfuirez ; et : Nous monterons sur des chevaux rapides ; c'est pourquoi ceux qui vous poursuivront seront rapides.

 16 But ye said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall ye flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

17 Un millier s’enfuira à la réprimande d’un seul ; à la réprimande de cinq vous vous enfuirez, jusqu’à ce que vous restiez comme une balise au sommet d’une montagne, et comme une enseigne sur une colline.

 17 One thousand shall flee at the rebuke of one; at the rebuke of five shall ye flee: till ye be left as a beacon upon the top of a mountain, and as an ensign on an hill.

18 ¶ Et c'est pourquoi le SEIGNEUR attendra, afin qu'il puisse vous faire grâce, et ainsi il sera exalté, afin qu'il puisse user de miséricorde envers vous ; car le SEIGNEUR est un Dieu de jugement bénis sont tous ceux qui l'attendent.

 18 ¶ And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.

19 Car le peuple demeurera dans Zion (Sion) à Jérusalem tu ne pleureras plus Il te fera extrêmement grâce au son de ton pleur ; quand il l'entendra, il te répondra.

 19 For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.

20 Et bien que le Seigneur vous donne le pain d'adversité et l'eau d'affliction, malgré tout tes enseignants ne seront plus poussés dans un coin, mais tes yeux verront tes enseignants.

 20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:

21 Et tes oreilles entendront une parole derrière toi, disant : C'iici le chemin, marchez-y, quand vous irez à main droite, ou quand vous irez à gauche.

 21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

22 Vous déshonorerez aussi le plaqué d'argent de tes images taillées, et les ornements de tes statues d'or fondu ; tu les jetteras loin, comme une serviette menstruelle, et tu lui diras Retire-toi d'ici.

 22 Ye shall defile also the covering of thy graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a menstruous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence.

23 Alors il donnera la pluie à ta semence de laquelle tu auras semé le sol ; et le pain du revenu de la terre sera onctueux et abondant ; en ce jour-là, ton bétail se nourrira dans de vastes pâturages.

 23 Then shall he give the rain of thy seed, that thou shalt sow the ground withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and plenteous: in that day shall thy cattle feed in large pastures.

24 De même les bœufs les ânons, qui labourent la terre, mangeront le pur fourrage, qui aura été vanné avec la pelle et le van.

 24 The oxen likewise and the young asses that ear the ground shall eat clean provender, which hath been winnowed with the shovel and with the fan.

25 Et sur toute haute montagne, et sur toute colline élevée, il y aura des rivières et des courants d'eau, au jour du grand carnage, lorsque les tours tomberont.

 25 And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.

26 De plus la lumière de la lune sera comme la lumière du soleil, et la lumière du soleil sera sept fois plus, pareille à la lumière de sept jours, au jour où le SEIGNEUR aura bandé la plaie de son peuple, et aura guéri le coup de leur blessure.

 26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.

27 ¶ Voici, le nom du SEIGNEUR vient de loin, avec son courroux brûlant, dont le poids en est accablant ; ses lèvres sont remplies d'indignation, et sa langue est comme un feu dévorant.

 27 ¶ Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:

28 Et son souffle, comme un torrent débordant, qui atteint jusqu’au milieu du cou, pour passer au crible les nations avec le crible de vanité, et il y aura aux mâchoires des peuples un frein qui les fera s’égarer.

 28 And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.

29 Vous aurez un cantique comme dans la nuit où l'on célèbre une fête solennelle ; et joie au cœur, telle qu'à celui qui va avec une flûte pour venir à la montagne du SEIGNEUR, vers le Puissant d'Israël.

 29 Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel.

30 Et le SEIGNEUR fera entendre la gloire de sa voix, et montrera où aura asséné son bras dans l'indignation de son courroux, avec une flamme d'un feu dévorant, avec dispersion, et tempête et grêlons.

 30 And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.

31 Car par la voix du SEIGNEUR, l’Assyrien sera battu, lequel frappait avec’un bâton.

 31 For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.

32 Et à chaque endroit où passera la canne solide que le SEIGNEUR lui assènera, cela sera avec tambourins et harpes ; et dans les batailles intenses il combattra avec elle.

 32 And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.

33 Car Tophet (Thopheth) est désignée depuis longtemps ; oui, pour le roi elle est préparée il l’a faite profonde et large, son bûcher est du feu, et beaucoup de bois ; le souffle du SEIGNEUR, comme un torrent de soufre, l’allume

 33 For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.
