1 Qui est celui-ci qui vient d’Edom, de Bozrah, avec des vêtements teints ? celui qui est magnifiquement paré, voyageant selon la grandeur de sa puissance ? C’est moi, qui parle avec rectitude, et qui ai pouvoir de sauver.

 1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

2 Pourquoi y a-t-il du rouge à ton vêtement, et tes habits sont-ils comme ceux de celui qui presse dans la cuve ?

 2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?

3 J'ai été seul à presser au pressoir, et, parmi les peuples personne n'était avec moi ; cependant je les presserai dans mon courroux, je les piétinerai dans ma fureur et leur sang s'aspergera sur mes vêtements, et je tacherai tous mes vêtements.

 3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

4 Car le jour de la vengeance est dans mon cœur, et l'année de mes rachetés est venue.

 4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

5 Et j'ai regardé, et il n'y avait personne pour m'aider ; et je m'étonnai qu'il n'y avait personne pour me soutenir ; c'est pourquoi mon propre bras m'a apporté le salut ; et ma fureur m'a soutenu.

 5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.

6 Et je presserai les peuples dans mon courroux, et je les enivrerai dans ma fureur, et je renverserai leur vigueur par terre.

 6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

7 ¶ Je mentionnerai la bonté compatissante du SEIGNEUR, et les louanges du SEIGNEUR, selon tout ce dont le SEIGNEUR nous a comblés et la grande bonté envers la maison d'Israël, dont il les a comblés selon ses miséricordes et selon la multitude de sa bonté compatissante.

 7 ¶ I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

8 Car il a dit : Certainement, ils sont mon peuple, des enfants qui ne mentiront pas ; ainsi il a été leur Sauveur.

 8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

9 Dans toutes leurs afflictions, il était affligé, et l'ange de sa présence les a sauvés ; dans son amour et dans sa pitié, il les a rachetés ; et il les a soutenus, et les a portés tous les jours d'autrefois.

 9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

10 ¶ Mais ils se sont rebellés et ont contrarié son Esprit saint ; c'est pourquoi il est devenu leur ennemi, et il se bâtit contre eux.

 10 ¶ But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

11 Toutefois il s'est souvenu des jours anciens, de Moïse, et de son peuple, disant : Où est celui qui les fit remonter de la mer, avec le berger de son troupeau ? Où est celui qui mit son Esprit saint en lui ?

 11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

12 Qui les conduisit par la main droite de Moïse, par son bras glorieux, fendant l'eau devant eux, afin qu'il s'acquît un nom éternel ?

 12 That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

13 Qui les conduisit à travers l'abîme, comme un cheval dans le désert, afin qu'ils ne trébuchent pas ?

 13 That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?

14 Comme une bête descend dans la vallée, l'Esprit du SEIGNEUR le fit se reposer ; ainsi tu as conduit ton peuple, pour t'acquérir un nom glorieux.

 14 As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

15 ¶ Regarde du ciel, et contemple de l'habitation de ta sainteté et de ta gloire où est ton zèle et ta puissance, le son de tes entrailles, et tes miséricordes envers moi ? Sont-elles retenues ?

 15 ¶ Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?

16 Sans aucun doute tu es notre père, encore qu'Abraham ne nous connaît pas, et qu'Israël ne nous ignore, toi, ô SEIGNEUR, tu es notre père ; notre rédempteur, ton nom est de tout temps.

 16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

17 ¶ Pourquoi, ô SEIGNEUR, nous fais-tu égarer hors de tes chemins, et endurcis-tu notre cœur pour ne pas te craindre ? Reviens, pour l'amour de tes serviteurs, les tribus de ton héritage.

 17 ¶ O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

18 Le peuple de ta sainteté l'a possédé que peu de temps ; nos adversaires ont piétiné ton sanctuaire.

 18 The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

19 Nous sommes à toi tu n'as jamais dominé sur eux, ils n'ont pas été appelés par ton nom.

 19 We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.
