1 Tu es droit, ô SEIGNEUR, quand je plaide avec toi ; toutefois laisse-moi parler de tes jugements avec toi, pourquoi le chemin des méchants prospère-t-il ? Pourquoi sont-ils joyeux tous ceux qui agissent perfidement ?

 1 Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

2 Tu les as plantés, oui, ils ont pris racine ; ils poussent, même ils fructifient ; tu es près de leur bouche, mais loin de leurs reins.

 2 Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins.

3 Mais toi, ô SEIGNEUR, tu me connais, tu m’as vu, et tu as sondé mon cœur envers toi ; tire-les comme des moutons pour l’abattoir, et prépare-les pour le jour de l’abattage.

 3 But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.

4 Jusqu’à quand le pays sera-t-il dans le deuil, et les plantes de tous les champs faneront-elles, à cause de la malice de ceux qui y demeurent ? Les bêtes et les oiseaux sont consumés ; parce qu’ils disent : Il ne verra pas notre dernière fin.

 4 How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end.

5 ¶ Si tu as couru avec les fantassins et qu’ils t’aient lassé, comment alors lutteras-tu avec les chevaux ? Et s’ils te lassent dans une terre de paix, dans laquelle tu t’es cru en sûreté, que feras-tu donc pendant la crue du Jourdain ?

 5 ¶ If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?

6 Car même tes frères et la maison de ton père, même ceux-là ont agi perfidement envers toi, oui, ils ont appelé une multitude après toi ; ne les crois pas, quoiqu’ils te disent de bonnes paroles.

 6 For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee.

7 ¶ J’ai abandonné ma maison ; j’ai délaissé mon héritage ; j’ai donné le cher bien-aimé de mon âme en la main de ses ennemis.

 7 ¶ I have forsaken mine house, I have left mine heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies.

8 Mon héritage est pour moi comme un lion dans la forêt ; il crie contre moi ; c’est pourquoi je l’ai haï.

 8 Mine heritage is unto me as a lion in the forest; it crieth out against me: therefore have I hated it.

9 Mon héritage est pour moi comme un oiseau tacheté, les oiseaux sont tout autour d’elle ; venez, rassemblez toutes les bêtes des champs ; venez dévorer.

 9 Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour.

10 Beaucoup de pasteurs ont détruit ma vigne ; ils ont piétiné ma porion ; ils ont réduit ma plaisante portion en un désert désolé.

 10 Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness.

11 Ils en ont fait une désolation, étant désolé, il mène deuil devant moi ; tout le pays devient désolé, parce que personne ne la prend à cœur.

 11 They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart.

12 Les dévastateurs sont venus sur tous les lieux élevés à travers le désert ; car l’épée du SEIGNEUR dévorera depuis un bout du pays jusqu’à l’autre bout du pays ; aucune chair n’aura la paix.

 12 The spoilers are come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace.

13 Ils ont semé du blé, mais ils moissonneront des épines ; ils se sont donnés de la peine, mais ils n’en profiteront rien et ils seront honteux de vos revenus, à cause de l’ardent courroux du SEIGNEUR.

 13 They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD.

14 ¶ Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR contre tous mes mauvais voisins, qui mettent la main sur l’héritage que j’ai fait hériter à mon peuple Israël : Voici, je les arracherai de leur pays, et j’arracherai la maison de Juda du milieu d’eux.

 14 ¶ Thus saith the LORD against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them.

15 Et il arrivera qu’après que je les aurai arrachés, je retournerai, et j’aurai compassion d’eux, et je les amènerai de nouveau, chacun à son héritage et chacun à sa terre.

 15 And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land.

16 Et il arrivera que, s’ils apprennent diligemment les chemins de mon peuple, pour jurer par mon nom : Le SEIGNEUR est vivant ; comme ils ont enseigné à mon peuple à jurer par Baal, ils seront alors édifiés au milieu de mon peuple.

 16 And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people.

17 Mais s’ils n’obéissent pas, j’arracherai entièrement cette nation, et la détruirai, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 17 But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.
