1 Ainsi m’e dit le SEIGNEUR : Va, procure-toi une ceinture de lin, et mets-la sur tes reins, et ne la mets pas dans l’eau.

 1 Thus saith the LORD unto me, Go and get thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water.

2 Je me procurai donc une ceinture, selon la parole du SEIGNEUR, et je la mis sur mes reins.

 2 So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins.

3 Et la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi une seconde fois, disant :

 3 And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying,

4 Prends la ceinture que tu as, qui est sur tes reins, et lève-toi, va vers l’Euphrate, et là, cache-la dans le trou d’un roc.

 4 Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.

5 J’allai donc et je la cachai près de l’Euphrate, comme le SEIGNEUR m’avait commandé.

 5 So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.

6 Et il arriva, plusieurs jours après, que le SEIGNEUR me dit : Lève-toi, va vers l’Euphrate, et reprends de là, la ceinture que je t’avais commandé d’y cacher.

 6 And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.

7 Et j’allai vers l’Euphrate, et je creusai, et je pris la ceinture du lieu où je l’avais cachée, et voici, la ceinture était détériorée ; elle n’était plus bonne à rien.

 7 Then I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.

8 Et la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi disant :

 8 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

9 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : C’est de cette manière que je détériorerai l’orgueil de Juda, le grand orgueil de Jérusalem.

 9 Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

10 Ce peuple mauvais, qui refusent d’entendre mes paroles, qui marchent suivant l’imagination de leur cœur, et qui marchent après d’autres dieux pour les servir et pour les adorer, sera comme cette ceinture qui n’est bonne à rien.

 10 This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.

11 Car, comme une ceinture est jointe aux reins d’un homme, ainsi avais-je joint à moi toute la maison d’Israël et toute la maison de Juda, dit le SEIGNEUR, afin qu’elles puissent être pour moi un peuple, et un renom, et une louange et une gloire ; mais ils ne m’ont pas voulu entendre.

 11 For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

12 ¶ Tu leur diras donc cette parole : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël : Toute bouteille sera remplie de vin ; et ils te diront : Ne savons-nous pas bien que toute bouteille sera remplie de vin?

 12 ¶ Therefore thou shalt speak unto them this word; Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?

13 Alors tu leur diras : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Voici, je vais remplir d’ivresse tous les habitants de ce pays, et même les rois qui sont assis sur le trône de David, et les prêtres, et les prophètes et tous les habitants de Jérusalem.

 13 Then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David’s throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.

14 Et je les briserai les uns contre les autres, les pères et les fils ensemble, dit le SEIGNEUR ; je n’aurai pas de pitié, je n’épargnerai pas ; et je n’aurai pas miséricorde ; mais je les détruirai.

 14 And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

15 ¶ Entendez et prêtez l’oreille ; ne soyez pas orgueilleux ; car le SEIGNEUR a parlé.

 15 ¶ Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken.

16 Donnez gloire au SEIGNEUR, votre Dieu, avant qu’il fasse venir l’obscurité, avant que vos pieds trébuchent sur les montagnes obscures ; et tandis que vous cherchez la lumière, il la changera en ombre de la mort, et la réduira en obscurité profonde.

 16 Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.

17 Mais si vous ne voulez pas entendre ceci, mon âme pleurera en des lieux secrets à cause de votre orgueil ; et mon œil pleurera en abondance, et se fondra en larmes, parce que le troupeau du SEIGNEUR sera emmené en captivité.

 17 But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is carried away captive.

18 Dis au roi et à la reine : Humiliez-vous et asseyez-vous car votre principauté tombera, à savoir la couronne de votre gloire.

 18 Say unto the king and to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.

19 Les villes du Sud seront fermées, et personne ne les ouvrira ; tout Juda est emmené en captivité, il est entièrement emmené en captivité.

 19 The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive.

20 Levez vos yeux, et voyez ceux qui viennent du Nord ; où est le troupeau qui t’a été donné, ton magnifique troupeau ?

 20 Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?

21 Que diras-tu quand il te punira ? Car tu les as enseignés pour être les capitaines, et comme chef sur toi ; les douleurs ne te saisiront-elles pas, comme une femme en travail ?

 21 What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?

22 ¶ Et si tu dis en ton cœur : Pourquoi me sont arrivées ces choses ? Pour la grandeur de ton iniquité tes pans sont relevés, et tes talons ont été découverts.

 22 ¶ And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare.

23 L’Éthiopien peut-il changer sa peau, ou le léopard ses taches ? Alors pourriez- vous aussi faire (quelque) bien, vous qui êtes accoutumés à faire le mal..

 23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

24 C’est pourquoi je les disperserai comme le chaume emporté par le vent du désert.

 24 Therefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passeth away by the wind of the wilderness.

25 C’est ton lot, la portion que je t’ai mesurée, dit le SEIGNEUR, parce que tu m’as oublié et que tu t’es fié à la fausseté.

 25 This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from me, saith the LORD; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.

26 À cause de cela, je relèverai tes pans sur ton visage, afin que ta honte puisse paraître.

 26 Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear.

27 J’ai vu tes adultères et tes hennissements, l’impudicité de ta prostitution et tes abominations sur les collines par les champs. Malheur à toi, ô Jérusalem ! Ne te rendras-tu pas nette ? Quand cela sera-t-il ?

 27 I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?
