1 Puis la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi, disant :

 1 The word of the LORD came also unto me, saying,

2 Tu ne prendras pas de femme, tu n’auras pas non plus de fils ni de filles en ce lieu.

 2 Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons or daughters in this place.

3 Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR concernant les fils et concernant les filles qui naissent en ce lieu, et concernant leurs mères qui les auront enfantés, et concernant leurs pères qui les auront engendrés dans ce pays :

 3 For thus saith the LORD concerning the sons and concerning the daughters that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bare them, and concerning their fathers that begat them in this land;

4 Ils mourront de mort terrible ; ils ne seront pas pleurés, ni ne seront enterrés ; mais ils seront comme des excréments sur la face de la terre ; et ils seront consumés par l’épée et par la famine, et leurs cadavres serviront de nourriture aux oiseaux du ciel et aux bêtes de la terre.

 4 They shall die of grievous deaths; they shall not be lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.

5 Car ainsi dit le Seigneur : N’entre pas dans la maison de deuil, ne va pas non plus te lamenter ni les plaindre ; car j’ai retiré ma paix de ce peuple, dit le SEIGNEUR, c’estr-à-dire ma bonté compatissante et mes miséricordes.

 5 For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and mercies.

6 Grands et petits mourront dans ce pays ; ils ne seront pas enterrés, on ne les pleurera pas non plus, on ne se fera pas d’incision, et l’on ne se rasera pas pour eux.

 6 Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:

7 Les hommes ne se sépareront pas non plus pour ceux dans le deuil, pour les consoler pour lemort ; les hommes ne leur donneront pas non plus à boire la coupe de consolation pour leur père ou pour leur mère.

 7 Neither shall men tear themselves for them in mourning, to comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.

8 Aussi tu n’entreras pas dans la maison de festin, pour t’asseoir avec eux, pour manger ou pour boire.

 8 Thou shalt not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and to drink.

9 Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d’Israël : Voici, je vais faire cesser de ce lieu, devant vos yeux et en vos jours, la voix de gaieté, et la voix de liesse, la voix de l’époux et la voix de l’épouse.

 9 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.

10 ¶ Et il arrivera, quand tu montreras à ce peuple toutes ces paroles, et qu’ils te diront : Pourquoi le SEIGNEUR a-t-il prononcé tout ce grand mal contre nous ? Ou quelle est notre iniquité ? Ou quel est notre péché que nous avons commis contre le SEIGNEUR notre Dieu ?

 10 ¶ And it shall come to pass, when thou shalt shew this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity? or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?

11 Alors tu leur diras : Parce que vos pères m’ont abandonné, dit le SEIGNEUR, et sont allés après d’autres dieux et les ont servis, et les ont adorés, et m’ont abandonné et n’ont pas gardé ma loi ;

 11 Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my law;

12 Et vous avez fait encore pis que vos pères car voici, chacun de vous marche suivant l’imagination de son mauvais cœur, afin de ne pas m’écouter.

 12 And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that they may not hearken unto me:

13 À cause de cela je vous chasserai de ce pays vers un pays que vous ne connaissez pas, ni vous ni vos pères, et là, vous servirez d’autres dieux, jour et nuit, où je ne vous montrerai aucune faveur.

 13 Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye serve other gods day and night; where I will not shew you favour.

14 ¶ C’est pourquoi voici, les jours viennent, dit le SEIGNEUR, où on ne dira plus : Le SEIGNEUR vit, lui qui a fait monter les enfants d’Israël du pays d’Égypte ;

 14 ¶ Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be said, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

15 Mais on dira : Le SEIGNEUR vit, lui qui a fait monter les enfants d’Israël du pays du Nord, et de tous les pays où il les avait chassés ; et je les ramènerai dans leur pays, que j’avais donné à leurs pères.

 15 But, The LORD liveth, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.

16 ¶ Voici, j’enverrai de nombreux pêcheurs, dit le SEIGNEUR, et ils les pêcheront ; et après cela, j’enverrai de nombreux chasseurs, et ils les chasseront de chaque montagne, et de chaque colline, et des fentes des rocs.

 16 ¶ Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

17 Car mes yeux sont sur tous leurs chemins ; ils ne sont pas cachés de ma face, leur iniquité n’est pas cachée non plus de devant mes yeux.

 17 For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.

18 Et premièrement je leur rendrai le double de leur iniquité et de leur péché, parce qu’ils ont souillé ma terre, ils ont rempli mon héritage des cadavres de leurs détestables et abominables choses.

 18 And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.

19 Ô SEIGNEUR, ma puissance, et ma forteresse, et mon refuge au jour de l’affliction, les Gentils viendront à toi des bouts de la terre, et elles diront : Certes nos pères ont hérité mensonges, vanité et de choses auxquelles il n’y a aucune profit.

 19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

20 Un homme se fera-t-il des dieux pour lui-même, et ils ne sont pas des dieux ?

 20 Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods?

21 C’est pourquoi, voici, je vais leur faire connaître pour cette fois-ci, je leur ferai connaître ma main et ma puissance, et ils sauront que mon nom est, le SEIGNEUR.

 21 Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The LORD.
