1 Et la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à Jeremiah (Jérémie) une seconde fois, quand il était encore enfermé dans la cour de la prison, disant :

 1 Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

2 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : son créateur, le SEIGNEUR qui l’a formé pour l’établir ; le SEIGNEUR est son nom :

 2 Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;

3 Appelle-moi, et je te répondrai, et je te montrerai de grandes et puissantes choses que tu ne connais pas.

 3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

4 Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR, le Dieu d’Israël, au sujet des maisons de cette ville et des maisons des rois de Juda, qui sont renversées par les monticules et par l’épée,

 4 For thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword;

5 Ils sont venus pour combattre les Chaldéens, mais c’est pour les remplir des cadavres des hommes que j’ai frappés dans mon courroux et dans ma fureur, et pour toute la malice desquels j’ai caché mon visage de cette ville :

 5 They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.

6 Voici, je leur donnerai santé et guérison ; je les guérirai, je leur révèlerai l’abondance de paix et de vérité ;

 6 Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.

7 Et je ferai retourner les captifs de Juda et les captifs d’Israël, et je les rebâtirai comme au commencement.

 7 And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

8 Et je les nettoierai de toute leur iniquité par laquelle contre moi ; et je pardonnerai toutes les iniquités par lesquelles ils ont péché et par lesquelles ils ont transgressé contre moi.

 8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

9 Et ce sera pour moi un nom de joie, une louange et un honneur devant toutes les nations de la terre, qui entendront tout le bien que je leur fais, et seront effrayées et trembleront pour tout le bien être et pour toute la prospérité, que je lui procure.

 9 ¶ And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.

10 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : De nouveau on entendra dans ce lieu dont vous dites : Il sera ravagé sans homme, ni bête, et même dans les villes de Juda et dans les rues de Jérusalem, qui sont désertées, sans hommes, et sans habitant et sans bête,

 10 Thus saith the LORD; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast,

11 La voix de joie et la voix de la réjouissance, la voix de l’époux et la voix de l’épouse, la voix de ceux qui diront : Louez le SEIGNEUR des armées : Car le SEIGNEUR est bon, car sa miséricorde demeure à toujours ; et de ceux qui le sacrifice de louange à la maison du SEIGNEUR. Car je ferai revenir les captifs du pays, comme au commencement, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 11 The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.

12 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées : De nouveau dans ce lieu qui est ravagé, sans homme ni bête, et dans toutes ses villes, il y aura une habitation pour les bergers, y faisant reposer leurs troupeaux.

 12 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

13 Dans les villes des montagnes, dans les villes de la vallée, dans les villes du Sud, et dans le pays de Benjamin, et dans les environs de Jérusalem et dans les villes de Juda, les troupeaux passeront encore sous les mains de celui qui les compte, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 13 In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him that telleth them, saith the LORD.

14 Voici, les jours viennent, dit le SEIGNEUR, où j’accomplirai la bonne parole que j’ai promise à la maison d’Israël et à la la maison de Juda.

 14 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.

15 ¶ En ces jours et à ce moment-là, je ferai germer à David la Branche de rectitude, qui exécutera jugement et rectitude dans le pays.

 15 ¶ In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

16 En ces jours-là Juda sera sauvé, et Jérusalem demeurera en sécurité, et c’est le nom par lequel elle sera appelée : Le SEIGNEUR notre rectitude.

 16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.

17 ¶ Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : David ne manquera jamais d’avoir un homme assis sur le trône de la maison d’Israël ;

 17 ¶ For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;

18 Et les prêtres lévites ne manqueront jamais d’avoir devant moi d’un homme offrant des offrandes consumées, et faisant fumer des offrandes de farine, et faisant des sacrifices continuellement.

 18 Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.

19 Et la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à Jeremiah (Jérémie), disant :

 19 ¶ And the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, saying,

20 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Si vous pouvez rompre mon alliance avec le jour et mon alliance avec la nuit, er qu’il n’y ait plus de jour et de nuit en leur temps,

 20 Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;

21 Alors aussi mon alliance sera rompue avec David, mon serviteur, en sorte qu’il n’ait pas de fils qui règne sur son trône, et les Lévites, les prêtres, mes assistants.

 21 Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

22 Comme l’armée du ciel ne peut être comptée, ni le sable de la mer se mesurer, ainsi je multiplierai la semence de David, mon serviteur, et les Lévites qui me servent.

 22 As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.

23 La parole du SEIGNEUR vint encore à Jeremiah (Jérémie), disant

 23 Moreover the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying,

24 Ne remarques-tu ce que ce peuple a parlé, en disant : Les deux familles que le SEIGNEUR avait choisies, il les a même rejetées ? Ainsi ils ont méprisé mon peuple, de sorte que devant eux ils ne seraient plus une nation.

 24 Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the LORD hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.

25 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Si mon alliance ne demeure avec le jour et la nuit, et si je n’ai pas établi les ordonnances du ciel et de la terre,

 25 Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

26 Alors je rejetterai la semence de Jacob et de David, mon serviteur, afin qu’ainsi je ne prenne plus de sa semence pour être dirigeants sur la semence d’Abraham, d’Isaac et de Jacob :Car je ferai revenir leurs captifs, et je leur ferai miséricorde.

 26 Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob, and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.
