1 La parole qui vint à Jeremiah (Jérémie) de la part du SEIGNEUR, en la dixième année de Zedekiah (Sédécias), roi de Juda, laquelle était la dix-huitième année de Nebuchadrezzar (Nebuchadnezzar).

 1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.

2 L’armée du roi de Babylone assiégeait alors Jérusalem, et Jeremiah (Jérémie), le prophète, était enfermé dans la cour de la prison qui était dans la maison du roi de Juda .

 2 For then the king of Babylon’s army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which was in the king of Judah’s house.

3 Car Zedekiah (Sédécias), avait fait enfermer, disant : Pourquoi prophétises-tu, disant : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Voici, je vais livrer cette ville en la main du roi de Babylone , et il la prendra ;

 3 For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;

4 Et Zedekiah (Sédécias), roi de Juda, n’échappera pas de la main des Chaldéens ; mais il sera certainement livré en la main du roi de Babylone, et il lui parlera en personne, et ses yeux contempleront ses yeux ;

 4 And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;

5 Et il conduira Zedekiah (Sédécias) à Babylone, et il sera là jusqu’à ce que je le visite, dit le SEIGNEUR. Quand vous combattrez contre les Chaldéens, vous ne prospérerez pas.

 5 And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper.

6 ¶ Et Jeremiah (Jérémie) dit la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à moi, disant :

 6 ¶ And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

7 Voici Hanameel, le fils de Shallum, ton oncle, viendra vers toi disant : Achète mon champ qui est à Anathoth ; car tu as le droit de rachat pour l’acquérir.

 7 Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that is in Anathoth: for the right of redemption is thine to buy it.

8 Et Hanameel, le fils de mon oncle, vint vers moi, dans la cour de la prison, selon la parole du SEIGNEUR, et il me dit : Achète, je te prie, mon champ qui est à Anathoth, au pays de Benjamin, car tu as le droit d’héritage et de rachat ; achète-le. Je sus alors que c’était la parole du SEIGNEUR.

 8 So Hanameel mine uncle’s son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that is in Anathoth, which is in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance is thine, and the redemption is thine; buy it for thyself. Then I knew that this was the word of the LORD.

9 Et j’achetai de Hanameel, le fils de mon oncle, le champ qui était à Anathoth, et je lui pesai l’argent : c’est-à-dire dix-sept shekels d’argent.

 9 And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle’s son, that was in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, even seventeen shekels of silver.

10 Puis je souscrivis l’attestation, et la scellai, et je pris des témoins et pesai l’argent dans la balance.

 10 And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed it, and took witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.

11 Ainsi je pris l’attestation, tant celle qui était sellée selon la loi et les coutumes, et celle qui était ouverte.

 11 So I took the evidence of the purchase, both that which was sealed according to the law and custom, and that which was open:

12 Et je remis l’attestation d’acquisition à Baruch le fils de Neriah, le fils de Maaseiah, sous les yeux de Hanameel, le fils de mon oncle, et en présence des témoins qui avaient souscrit la lettre d’acquisition, devant tous les Juifs qui étaient assis dans la cour de la prison.

 12 And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle’s son, and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.

13 ¶ Et je chargeai Baruch, en leur présence, disant :

 13 ¶ And I charged Baruch before them, saying,

14 Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d’Israël : Prends ces attestations, cette attestation d’acquisition, celle qui est scellée et celle qui est ouverte et mets-les dans un vase de terre, afin qu’ils puissent se conserver beaucoup de jours.

 14 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.

15 Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d’Israël : On possédera de nouveau des maisons, des champs et des vignes dans ce pays.

 15 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.

16 ¶ Et après avoir donné à Baruch, le fils de Neriah, l’attestation d’acquisition, je priai au SEIGNEUR, disant :

 16 ¶ Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying,

17 Ah ! Seigneur DIEU, voici, tu as fait le ciel et la terre, par ta grande puissance et par ton bras étendu et il n’y a rien qui te soit trop difficile.

 17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:

18 Tu montres ta bonté compatissante à des milliers, et tu rétribues l’iniquité des pères dans le sein de leurs enfants après eux. Le Grand, le Puissant Dieu, le SEIGNEUR des armées est son nom,

 18 Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,

19 Grand en conseil et puissant en exploits ; car tes yeux sont ouverts sur tous les chemins des fils des hommes, pour rendre à chacun selon ses chemins et selon le fruit de ses actes ;

 19 Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

20 Toi qui as fait des signes et des prodiges même jusqu'à ce jour dans le pays d'Égypte, et en Israël, et parmi d'autres hommes, et qui t'es fait un nom tel qu'il est aujourd'hui.

 20 Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day;

21 Et tu as fait sortir ton peuple Israël du pays d’Égypte, avec des signes et avec des prodiges et avec une main forte et avec un bras étendu, et avec une grande terreur.

 21 And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror;

22 Et tu leur as donné ce pays, que tu avais juré à leurs pères de leur donner, un pays découlant de lait et de miel ;

 22 And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;

23 Et ils vinrent et l’ont possédé ; mais ils n’ont pas obéi à ta voix, et n’ont pas marché dans ta loi ; ils n’ont rien fait de tout ce que tu leur avais commandé de faire : c’est pourquoi tu as fait venir sur eux tout ce mal :

 23 And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:

24 Voici, les monticules, ils sont venus contre la ville pour la prendre, et la ville est livrée en la main des Chaldéens qui combattent contre elle, à cause de l’épée, de la famine et de la pestilence : et ce que tu as dit est arrivé, et voici, tu le vois.

 24 Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.

25 Et toi ô Seigneur DIEU, tu m’as dit : Achète-toi ce champ à prix d’argent et prends des témoins ; car la ville est livrée en la main des Chaldéens.

 25 And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

26 ¶ Et la parole du SEIGNEUR vint à Jeremiah (Jérémie), disant :

 26 ¶ Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,

27 Voici, je suis le SEIGNEUR, le Dieu de toute chair ; y a-t-il quelque chose trop difficile pour moi ?

 27 Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

28 C’est pourquoi, ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Voici je vais livrer cette ville en la main des Chaldéens, et en la main de Nebuchadrezzar (Nebuchadnezzar), roi de Babylone, et il la prendra.

 28 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it:

29 Et les Chaldéens qui combattent contre cette ville, entreront, et mettront le feu à cette ville, et ils la brûleront, avec les maisons sur les toits desquelles ils ont offert de l’encens à Baal et verser des offrandes liquides à d’autres dieux, pour me provoquer au courroux.

 29 And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.

30 Car les enfants d’Israël et les enfants de Juda n’ont fait depuis leur jeunesse, que ce qui est mal devant moi ; car les enfants d’Israël n’ont fait que me provoquer au courroux par l’œuvre de leurs mains, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 30 For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.

31 Car cette ville m’a été comme une provocation, à mon courroux et à ma fureur, depuis le jour qu’ils l’ont bâtie jusqu’à ce jour, afin que je l’ôte de devant ma face ;

 31 For this city hath been to me as a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,

32 À cause de tout le mal que les enfants d’Israël et les enfants de Juda ont fait pour me provoquer au courroux, eux, leurs rois, leurs princes, et leurs prêtres et leurs prophètes, les hommes de Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem.

 32 Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

33 Ils m’ont tourné le dos et non le visage. lorsque je les ai enseignés me levant tôt et les enseignant, cependant ils n’ont pas écouté pour recevoir instruction.

 33 And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.

34 Mais ils ont mis leurs abominations dans la maison qui est appelée par mon nom, pour la souiller.

 34 But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.

35 Et ils ont bâti les hauts lieux de Baal, qui sont dans la vallée du fils de Hinnom, pour faire passer leurs fils et leurs filles par le feu à Moloch, ce que je ne leur avais pas commandé, ni n’était jamais venu à ma pensée, qu’ils fassent cette abomination, pour faire pécher Juda .

 35 And they built the high places of Baal, which are in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.

36 ¶ Et maintenant, à cause de cela, ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR, le Dieu d’Israël, au sujet de cette ville dont vous dites qu’elle va être livrée en la main du roi de Babylone, par l’épée, par la famine et par la pestilence

 36 ¶ And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence;

37 Voici, je les rassemblerai de tous les pays où je les aurai chassés dans mon courroux, et dans ma fureur, et dans une grande violence ; et je les ferai revenir en ce lieu, et y demeurer en sûreté.

 37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:

38 Alors ils seront mon peuple, et je serai leur Dieu.

 38 And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:

39 Et je leur donnerai un seul cœur et un seul chemin, afin qu’ils me craignent à toujours, pour leur bien et pour celui de leurs enfants après eux.

 39 And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

40 Et je traiterai avec eux une alliance éternelle ; je ne me retirerai plus d’eux, c’est-à-dire que je ne me retirerai plus d’eux pour leur faire du bien, et je mettrai ma crainte dans leurs cœurs, afin qu’ils ne se retirent pas de moi.

 40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

41 Oui, je me réjouirai en eux pour leur faire du bien ; et je les planterai solidement dans ce pays, de tout mon cœur et de toute mon âme.

 41 Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

42 Car ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Comme j’ai fait venir tout ce grand mal sur ce peuple, je ferai aussi venir sur eux tout le bien que je leur ai promis.

 42 For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.

43 Et l’on achètera des champs dans ce pays dont vous dites : C’est une désolation, sans homme ni bête ; il est livré en la main des Chaldéens.

 43 And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, It is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

44 On achètera des champs à prix d’argent, on en souscrira les évidences, et on les scellera, et on prendra des témoins,, dans le pays de Benjamin et aux environs de Jérusalem, dans les villes de Juda, dans les villes des montagnes et, dans les villes de la vallée et dans les villes du Sud ; car je ferai revenir leurs captifs, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 44 Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.
