1 Contre Moab, ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR des armées, le Dieu d’Israël : Malheur à Nebo ! car elle est saccagée ; Kiriathaim (Kiriathaïm) est décontenancée et est prise ; Misgab est décontenancée et consternée.

 1 Against Moab thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Woe unto Nebo! for it is spoiled: Kiriathaim is confounded and taken: Misgab is confounded and dismayed.

2 Il n’y aura plus de louange à Moab ; à Hesbon ils ont machiné du mal contre elle ; venez, et retranchons-la, qu’elle ne soit plus une nation. Toi aussi, ô Madmen, tu seras abattue, et l’épée te poursuivra.

 2 There shall be no more praise of Moab: in Heshbon they have devised evil against it; come, and let us cut it off from being a nation. Also thou shalt be cut down, O Madmen; the sword shall pursue thee.

3 Une voix de cri viendra de Horonajim, (Horonaïm) pillage et une grande destruction.

 3 A voice of crying shall be from Horonaim, spoiling and great destruction.

4 Moab est détruit ; ses petits enfants ont fait entendre un cri.

 4 Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.

5 Car dans la montée de Luhith, un pleur continuel montera ; car dans la descente de Horonajim (Horonaïm), les ennemis entendront un cri de destruction.

 5 For in the going up of Luhith continual weeping shall go up; for in the going down of Horonaim the enemies have heard a cry of destruction.

6 Fuyez, sauvez vos vies, et soyez comme la bruyère dans le désert.

 6 Flee, save your lives, and be like the heath in the wilderness.

7 ¶ Car, puisque tu as eu confiance en tes oeuvres et en tes trésors, tu seras aussi prise ; et Chemosh s’en ira en captivité, avec ses prêtres et ses princes.

 7 ¶ For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together.

8 Et le dévastateur viendra dans chaque ville et aucune ville n’échappera ; la vallée aussi périra, et la plaine sera détruite, comme le SEIGNEUR a dit.

 8 And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken.

9 Donnez des ailes à Moab, afin qu’il puisse s’enfuir et s’éloigner, car ses villes seront ravagées, sans aucune personne qui y demeure.

 9 Give wings unto Moab, that it may flee and get away: for the cities thereof shall be desolate, without any to dwell therein.

10 Maudit soit celui qui fait l’œuvre du SEIGNEUR trompeusement, et maudit soit celui qui gardera son épée du sang.

 10 Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.

11 ¶ Moab a été à son aise depuis sa jeunesse, et il s’était établi sur sa lie, et n’a pas été vidé de vase en vase, et n’est pas non plus allé en captivité ; c’est pourquoi son goût lui est resté, et son odeur n’est pas changée.

 11 ¶ Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remained in him, and his scent is not changed.

12 C’est pourquoi, voici, les jours viennent, dit le SEIGNEUR, où je lui enverrai des vagabonds qui le fera errer, et videront ses vases, et briseront ses bouteilles.

 12 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him wanderers, that shall cause him to wander, and shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles.

13 Et Moab sera honteux de Chemosh, comme la maison d’Israël a été honteuse de Bethel, qui était sa confiance.

 13 And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Bethel their confidence.

14 ¶ Comment dites-vous : Nous sommes des hommes puissants et forts pour la guerre ?

 14 ¶ How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war?

15 Moab est saccagé ; et est monté hors de ses villes ; et l’élite de ses jeunes hommes est descendue à l’abattoir, dit le Roi dont le nom est le SEIGNEUR des armées.

 15 Moab is spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

16 La calamité de Moab est près de venir et son affliction se hâte grandement.

 16 The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.

17 Vous tous qui êtes autour de lui, pleurez-le, et vous tous qui connaissez son nom, dites : Comme est brisée la solide houlette, et le beau bâton !.

 17 All ye that are about him, bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod!

18 Toi fille qui habite à Dibon, descends de ta gloire, et assieds-toi assoiffée ; car le dévastateur de Moab montera contre toi, et il détruira tes places fortes.

 18 Thou daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, and he shall destroy thy strong holds.

19 Ô habitante d’Aroer, Tiens-toi sur le chemin et observe ; interroge celui qui fuit et celle qui s’échappe et dis : Qu’est-il arrivé ?

 19 O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and espy; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth, and say, What is done?

20 Moab est décontenancé car il est brisé : Hurlez et criez ; racontez-le dans Arnon que Moab est saccagé,

 20 Moab is confounded; for it is broken down: howl and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled,

21 Et que le jugement est venu sur le plat pays, sur Holon, et sur Jahazah, sur Mephaath,

 21 And judgment is come upon the plain country; upon Holon, and upon Jahazah, and upon Mephaath,

22 Et sur Dibon, et sur Nebo, sur Bethdiblathaïm,

 22 And upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Bethdiblathaim,

23 Et sur Kiriathaim, sur Bethgamul, et sur Bethmeon,

 23 And upon Kiriathaim, and upon Bethgamul, and upon Bethmeon,

24 Et sur Kerioth, et sur Bozrah, et sur toutes les villes du pays de Moab éloignées et proches.

 24 And upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.

25 La corne de Moab est retranchée, et son bras est brisé, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 25 The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith the LORD.

26 ¶ Enivrez-le, car il s’est élevé contre le SEIGNEUR ; Moab aussi se vautrera dans son vomissement et il sera, lui aussi, moqué.

 26 ¶ Make ye him drunken: for he magnified himself against the LORD: Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.

27 Car Israël n’a-t-il pas été un objet de moquerie pour toi ? À-t-il été trouvé parmi les voleurs, car dès que tu as parlé de lui, tu sautais de joie.

 27 For was not Israel a derision unto thee? was he found among thieves? for since thou spakest of him, thou skippedst for joy.

28 Ô vous qui demeurez à Moab, quittez les villes, et demeurez au rocher, et soyez comme la colombe, qui fait son nid aux côtés de l’ouverture d’une caverne.

 28 O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth.

29 Nous avons entendu parler de l’orgueil de Moab, (il est extrêmement) orgueilleux, sa supériorité, et son arrogance et son orgueil, et la condescendance de son cœur.

 29 We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogancy, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart.

30 Je connais sa colère, dit le SEIGNEUR ; mais il n’en sera pas ainsi ; ses mensonges seront sans effet.

 30 I know his wrath, saith the LORD; but it shall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it.

31 C’est pourquoi je hurlerai sur Moab, et je crierai à cause de tout Moab ; mon cœur gémira sur les hommes de Kirheres.

 31 Therefore will I howl for Moab, and I will cry out for all Moab; mine heart shall mourn for the men of Kirheres.

32 Ô vignoble de Sibmah, je pleurerai sur toi du pleur de Jazer, toi dont les pampres traversaient la mer, atteignaient la mer de Jazer ; le dévastateur est tombé sur tes fruits d’été et sur ta vendange.

 32 O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.

33 La joie et l’allégresse sont retirées du champ fertile et du pays de Moab, et j’ai fait cesser le vin dans les cuves ; on n’y foulera plus avec clameur : leur clameur ne sera plus une clameur.

 33 And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall be no shouting.

34 À cause du cri de Heshbon (Hesbon), même jusqu’à Elealeh, et même jusqu’à Jahaz,ils font émettre leurs voix, même depuis Zoar jusqu’à Horonaim (Horonaïm), comme une génisse de trois ans : car les eaux de Nimrim deviendront aussi une désolation..

 34 From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, and even unto Jahaz, have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, as an heifer of three years old: for the waters also of Nimrim shall be desolate.

35 De plus dit le SEIGNEUR, je ferai cesser en Moab, celui qui offre sur les hauts lieux et celui qui brûle de l’encens à ses dieux.

 35 Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offereth in the high places, and him that burneth incense to his gods.

36 C’est pourquoi mon cœur retentira sur Moab, comme des flûtes ; mon cœur retentira comme des flûtes sur les hommes de Kirheres, parce que les richesses qu’il a acquise ont péri.

 36 Therefore mine heart shall sound for Moab like pipes, and mine heart shall sound like pipes for the men of Kirheres: because the riches that he hath gotten are perished.

37 Car toute tête sera chauve, et toute barbe sera coupée ; sur toutes les mains il y aura des incisions, et sur les reins, le sac ;

 37 For every head shall be bald, and every beard clipped: upon all the hands shall be cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.

38 Et généralement il y aura lamentation sur les toits de Moab et dans ses rues ; car j’ai brisé Moab comme un vase auquel on ne prend aucun plaisir, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 38 There shall be lamentation generally upon all the housetops of Moab, and in the streets thereof: for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the LORD.

39 ls hurleront, disant : Comme il est brisé ! Comme Moab a tourné le dos avec honte ! Ainsi Moab sera un objet de dérision et une consternation pour tous ceux qui sont autour de lui.

 39 They shall howl, saying, How is it broken down! how hath Moab turned the back with shame! so shall Moab be a derision and a dismaying to all them about him.

40 Car ainsi a dit le SEIGNEUR Voici, il volera comme un aigle, et il étendra ses ailes sur Moab.

 40 For thus saith the LORD; Behold, he shall fly as an eagle, and shall spread his wings over Moab.

41 Kerioth est prise, et les places fortes sont prises au dépourvu ; et le cœur des hommes vaillants de Moab sera en ce jour-là comme le cœur d’une femme en ses douleurs.

 41 Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men’s hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.

42 Et Moab sera détruit, et ne sera plus un peuple, parce qu’il s’est élevé contre le SEIGNEUR.

 42 And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD.

43 La peur, et la fosse et le piège seront sur toi, ô habitants de Moab, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 43 Fear, and the pit, and the snare, shall be upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD.

44 Celui qui fuit à cause de la peur tombera dans la fosse, et celui qui remonte de la fosse sera pris au piège : car je ferai venir sur lui, à savoir, sur Moab, l’année de leur visitation, dit le SEIGNEUR.

 44 He that fleeth from the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for I will bring upon it, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.

45 Ceux qui fuyaient se sont tenus à l’ombre de Heshbon (Hesbon) voulant éviter la force ; mais un feu sortira de Heshbon (Hesbon), et une flamme du milieu de Sihon, qui dévorera le coin de Moab, et le sommet de la tête des hommes bruyants.

 45 They that fled stood under the shadow of Heshbon because of the force: but a fire shall come forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.

46 Malheur à toi, ô Moab ! Le peuple de Chemosh péri : car tes fils sont pris captifs, et tes filles captives.

 46 Woe be unto thee, O Moab! the people of Chemosh perisheth: for thy sons are taken captives, and thy daughters captives.

47 ¶ Toutefois, je ramènerai les captifs de Moab, aux derniers jours, dit le SEIGNEUR. Jusqu’ici est le jugement de Moab.

 47 ¶ Yet will I bring again the captivity of Moab in the latter days, saith the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.
