1 Puis les chefs des pères des Lévites s’approchèrent d’Eleazar, le prêtre, et de Joshua (Josué) le fils de Nun, et des chefs des pères des tribus des enfants d’Israël ;

 1 Then came near the heads of the fathers of the Levites unto Eleazar the priest, and unto Joshua the son of Nun, and unto the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel;

2 Et ils leur parlèrent à Shiloh (Silo), dans le pays de Canaan, disant : Le SEIGNEUR a commandé par la main de Moïse qu’on nous donne des villes pour y demeurer, et leurs faubourgs pour notre bétail.

 2 And they spake unto them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, The LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with the suburbs thereof for our cattle.

3 Et les enfants d’Israël donnèrent de leur héritage aux Lévites, selon le commandement du SEIGNEUR, ces villes-ci avec leurs faubourgs.

 3 And the children of Israel gave unto the Levites out of their inheritance, at the commandment of the LORD, these cities and their suburbs.

4 Et le lot échut aux familles des Kohathites (Kéhathites) ; et les enfants d’Aaron, le prêtre, qui étaient d’entre les Lévites, obtinrent par lot treize villes, de la tribu de Judah (Juda), de la tribu de Siméon et de la tribu de Benjamin.

 4 And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: and the children of Aaron the priest, which were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.

5 Et le reste des enfants de Kohath (Kéhath) obtinrent par lot dix villes des familles de la tribu d’Ephraim (Éphraïm), et de la tribu de Dan, et de la demi-tribu de Manasseh (Manassé).

 5 And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.

6 Et les enfants de Gershon (Guershon) obtinrent par lot treize villes, des familles de la tribu d’Issacar, et de la tribu d’Asher (Asser), et de la tribu de Nephthali, et de la demi-tribu de Manasseh (Manassé), en Bashan.

 6 And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.

7 Les enfants de Merari, selon leurs familles, eurent douze villes, de la tribu de Reuben (Ruben), et de la tribu de Gad, et de la tribu de Zabulon.

 7 The children of Merari by their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.

8 Et les enfants d’Israël donnèrent par lot aux Lévites, ces villes-ci avec leurs faubourgs, comme le SEIGNEUR l’avait commandé par la main de Moïse.

 8 And the children of Israel gave by lot unto the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.

9 ¶ Et ils donnèrent de la tribu des enfants de Judah (Juda), et de la tribu des enfants de Siméon, ces villes, qui sont ici mentionnées par leur nom,

 9 ¶ And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are here mentioned by name,

10 Qui furent pour les enfants d’Aaron, étant des familles des Kohathites (Kéhathites), qui étaient des enfants de Levi (Lévi) car le premier lot fut pour eux ;

 10 Which the children of Aaron, being of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi, had: for theirs was the first lot.

11 Et on leur donna la cité d’Arba, père d’Anak, laquelle est Hébron, dans le pays montagneux de Judah (Juda), avec ses faubourgs tout autour.

 11 And they gave them the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, with the suburbs thereof round about it.

12 Mais quant aux champs de la ville, et ses villages, on les donna à Caleb le fils de Jephunneh (Jephunné), pour sa possession.

 12 But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, gave they to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.

13 ¶ On donna donc aux enfants d’Aaron, le prêtre, Hébron avec ses faubourgs, pour être une ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, ainsi que Libnah avec ses faubourgs,

 13 ¶ Thus they gave to the children of Aaron the priest Hebron with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Libnah with her suburbs,

14 Et Jattir avec ses faubourgs, et Eshtemoa avec ses faubourgs,

 14 And Jattir with her suburbs, and Eshtemoa with her suburbs,

15 Et Holon avec ses faubourgs, et Debir avec ses faubourgs,

 15 And Holon with her suburbs, and Debir with her suburbs,

16 Et Ain avec ses faubourgs, et Juttah avec ses faubourgs, et Bethshemesh avec ses faubourgs, neuf villes de ces deux tribus.

 16 And Ain with her suburbs, and Juttah with her suburbs, and Bethshemesh with her suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes.

17 Et de la tribu de Benjamin, Gibeon (Gabaon) avec ses faubourgs, Geba (Guéba) avec ses faubourgs,

 17 And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with her suburbs, Geba with her suburbs,

18 Anathoth avec ses faubourgs, et Almon avec ses faubourgs, quatre villes.

 18 Anathoth with her suburbs, and Almon with her suburbs; four cities.

19 Toutes tes villes des enfants d’Aaron, les prêtres : treize villes avec leurs faubourgs.

 19 All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their suburbs.

20 ¶ Quant aux familles des enfants de Kohath (Kéhath), les Lévites qui étaient le reste des enfants de Kohath (Kéhath), les villes de leur lot étaient de la tribu d’Ephraim (Éphraïm).

 20 ¶ And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites which remained of the children of Kohath, even they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.

21 Et on leur donna Shechem (Sichem) avec ses faubourgs, au mont Ephraim (Éphraïm), pour être une ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, et Gezer (Guézer) avec ses faubourgs,

 21 For they gave them Shechem with her suburbs in mount Ephraim, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Gezer with her suburbs,

22 Et Kibzaim (Kibtsaïm) avec ses faubourgs, et Bethhoron avec ses faubourgs, quatre villes.

 22 And Kibzaim with her suburbs, and Bethhoron with her suburbs; four cities.

23 Et de la tribu de Dan, Eltekeh avec ses faubourgs, Gibbethon avec ses faubourgs,

 23 And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with her suburbs, Gibbethon with her suburbs,

24 Aijalon avec ses faubourgs, Gathrimmon avec ses faubourgs, quatre villes.

 24 Aijalon with her suburbs, Gathrimmon with her suburbs; four cities.

25 Et de la demi-tribu de Manasseh (Manassé), Tanach avec ses faubourgs, et Gathrimmon avec ses faubourgs, deux villes.

 25 And out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Tanach with her suburbs, and Gathrimmon with her suburbs; two cities.

26 Toutes les villes furent au nombre de dix, avec leurs faubourgs, pour les familles des enfants de Kohath (Kehath).

 26 All the cities were ten with their suburbs for the families of the children of Kohath that remained.

27  ¶ Et aux enfants de Gershon (Guershon) , d’entre les familles des Lévites on donna de la demi-tribu de Manasseh (Manassé), Golan en Bashan avec ses faubourgs, pour être une ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, et Beeshterah avec ses faubourgs, deux villes ;

 27 ¶ And unto the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the other half tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Beeshterah with her suburbs; two cities.

28 Et de la tribu d’Issacar, Kishon avec ses faubourgs, Dabareh avec ses faubourgs,

 28 And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with her suburbs, Dabareh with her suburbs,

29 Jarmuth avec ses faubourgs, Engannim avec ses faubourgs, quatre villes ;

 29 Jarmuth with her suburbs, Engannim with her suburbs; four cities.

30 Et de la tribu d’Asher (Asser), Mishal avec ses faubourgs, Abdon avec ses faubourgs,

 30 And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbs, Abdon with her suburbs,

31 Helkath avec ses faubourgs, et Rehob avec ses faubourgs, quatre villes ;

 31 Helkath with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbs; four cities.

32 Et de la tribu de Nephthali, Kedesh en Galilée avec ses faubourgs, pour être une ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, et Hammothdor avec ses faubourgs, et Kartan avec ses faubourgs, trois villes.

 32 And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Hammothdor with her suburbs, and Kartan with her suburbs; three cities.

33 Toutes les villes des Gershonites (Guershonites), selon leurs familles étaient treize villes et leurs faubourgs.

 33 All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs.

34 ¶ Puis aux familles des enfants de Merari, le reste des Lévites, on donna de la tribu de Zabulon, Jokneam avec ses faubourgs, et Kartah avec ses faubourgs,

 34 ¶ And unto the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with her suburbs, and Kartah with her suburbs,

35 Dimnah avec ses faubourgs, Nahalal avec ses faubourgs, quatre villes ;

 35 Dimnah with her suburbs, Nahalal with her suburbs; four cities.

36 Et de la tribu de Reuben (Ruben), Bezer avec ses faubourgs, et Jahazah avec ses faubourgs,

 36 And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with her suburbs, and Jahazah with her suburbs,

37 Kedemoth avec ses faubourgs, et Mephaath avec ses faubourgs, quatre villes ;

 37 Kedemoth with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs; four cities.

38 Et de la tribu de Gad, Ramoth en Gilead (Galaad) avec ses faubourgs, pour être une ville de refuge pour le meurtrier, et Mahanaim avec ses faubourgs,

 38 And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Mahanaim with her suburbs,

39 Heshbon (Hesbon) avec ses faubourgs, Jazer avec ses faubourgs, en tout quatre villes.

 39 Heshbon with her suburbs, Jazer with her suburbs; four cities in all.

40 Ainsi toutes ces villes étaient aux enfants de Merari, selon leurs familles, lesquels étaient le reste des familles des Lévites : leur lot était de douze villes.

 40 So all the cities for the children of Merari by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Levites, were by their lot twelve cities.

41 Toutes les villes des Lévites au milieu de la possession des enfants d’Israël étaient quarante-huit villes et leurs faubourgs.

 41 All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their suburbs.

42 Chacune de ces villes avait ses faubourgs autour d’elle, il en était ainsi de toutes ces villes.

 42 These cities were every one with their suburbs round about them: thus were all these cities.

43 ¶ Et le SEIGNEUR donna à Israël toute la terre qu’il avait juré de donner à leurs pères ; et ils la possédèrent, et y demeurèrent.

 43 ¶ And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein.

44 Et le SEIGNEUR leur donna du repos de tous côtés, selon tout ce qu’il avait juré à leurs pères ; et il n’y eut pas un homme de tous leurs ennemis qui se tint devant eux ; le SEIGNEUR livra tous leurs ennemis en leur main.

 44 And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.

45 Aucune des bonnes choses que le SEIGNEUR avait dit à la maison d’Israël ne manqua d’arriver ; tout arriva.

 45 There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all came to pass.
