1 Et il arriva, lorsque Salomon eut achevé la construction de la maison du SEIGNEUR, et la maison du roi, et tout ce que Salomon avait pris plaisir et désiré faire,

 1 And it came to pass, when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do,

2 Que le SEIGNEUR apparut à Salomon pour la seconde fois, comme il lui était apparu à Gibeon.

 2 That the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time, as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.

3 Et le SEIGNEUR lui dit : J’ai entendu ta prière et ta supplication que tu as faite devant moi ; j’ai sanctifié cette maison que tu as bâtie, pour y mettre mon nom à toujours ; et mes yeux et mon cœur seront là à perpétuité.

 3 And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

4 Et toi, si tu marches devant moi, comme David, ton père, a marché, avec intégrité de cœur et rectitude, pour faire tout ce que je t’ai commandé, et si tu gardes mes statuts et mes jugements,

 4 And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments:

5 Alors j’affirmerai le trône de ton royaume sur Israël à toujours, comme je l’ai promis à David, ton père, disant : Il ne te manquera pas devant moi un homme assis sur le trône d’Israël.

 5 Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

6 Mais si vous vous détournez de me suivre, vous et vos enfants, et que vous ne gardiez pas mes commandements et mes statuts, lesquels j’ai mis devant vous, et que vous alliez et serviez d’autres dieux et que vous les adoriez ;

 6 But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them:

7 Alors je retrancherai Israël de la terre que je lui ai donnée, et cette maison que j’ai sanctifiée pour mon nom, je la rejetterai de devant moi, et Israël sera un proverbe et une risée parmi tous les peuples.

 7 Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:

8 Et quant à cette maison, laquelle est haut élevée, quiconque passera près d’elle sera étonné et sifflera ; et on dira. Pourquoi le SEIGNEUR a-t-il ainsi fait à ce pays et à cette maison ?

 8 And at this house, which is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house?

9 Et on répondra. Parce qu’ils ont abandonné le SEIGNEUR leur Dieu, qui avait fait sortir leurs pères hors du pays d’Égypte, et qu’ils se sont attachés à d’autres dieux, et les ont adorés, et les ont servis ; c’est pourquoi le SEIGNEUR a fait venir sur eux tout ce mal.

 9 And they shall answer, Because they forsook the LORD their God, who brought forth their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold upon other gods, and have worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath the LORD brought upon them all this evil.

10 ¶ Or il arriva qu’au bout des vingt ans pendant lesquels Salomon bâtit les deux maisons, la maison du SEIGNEUR et la maison du roi,

 10 ¶ And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the LORD, and the king’s house,

11 (D’autant qu’Hiram, roi de Tyre (Tyr), avait fourni à Salomon du bois de cèdre, du bois de sapin et de l’or, selon tout son désir), alors le roi Salomon donna à Hiram vingt villes dans le pays de Galilée.

 11 (Now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

12 Et Hiram sortit de Tyre (Tyr) pour voir les villes que Salomon lui avait données, mais elles ne lui plurent pas ;

 12 And Hiram came out from Tyre to see the cities which Solomon had given him; and they pleased him not.

13 Et il dit : Quelles sont ces villes que tu m’as données, mon frère ? Et il les appela pays de Cabul jusqu’à ce jour.

 13 And he said, What cities are these which thou hast given me, my brother? And he called them the land of Cabul unto this day.

14 Et Hiram envoya au roi cent vingt talents d’or.

 14 And Hiram sent to the king sixscore talents of gold.

15 ¶ Et c’est ici le sujet de la levée que le roi Salomon leva pour bâtir la maison du SEIGNEUR, et sa propre maison, et Millo, et la muraille de Jérusalem, et Hazor, et Megido (Meguiddo), et Gezer.

 15 ¶ And this is the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised; for to build the house of the LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

16 Car Pharaon, roi d’Égypte, était monté et avait pris Gezer et l’avait brûlée au feu ; et il avait tué les Canaanites qui demeuraient dans la ville ; et il la donna en présent à sa fille, femme de Salomon.

 16 For Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it for a present unto his daughter, Solomon’s wife.

17 Et Salomon bâtit Gezer, et Bethhoron la basse ;

 17 And Solomon built Gezer, and Bethhoron the nether,

18 Et Baalath, et Tadmor, dans le désert, dans le pays ;

 18 And Baalath, and Tadmor in the wilderness, in the land,

19 Et toutes les villes servant de magasins qu’avait Salomon, et les villes pour ses chariots, et les villes pour ses cavaliers, et tout ce que Salomon désira bâtir à Jérusalem, et au Liban, et dans tout le pays de sa domination.

 19 And all the cities of store that Solomon had, and cities for his chariots, and cities for his horsemen, and that which Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

20 Et tout le peuple qui était resté des Amorites, des Hittites, des Perizzites, des Hivites et des Jebusites, qui n’étaient pas des enfants d’Israël ;

 20 And all the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, which were not of the children of Israel,

21 Leurs enfants, qui étaient demeurés après eux dans le pays, lesquels les enfants d’Israël n’avaient pas pu complètement détruire, Salomon les rendit tributaires, et les asservit jusqu’à ce jour.

 21 Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Solomon levy a tribute of bondservice unto this day.

22 Mais Salomon ne voulut qu’aucun des enfants d’Israël soit asservi ; mais ils étaient hommes de guerre, et ses serviteurs, et ses princes et ses capitaines, et chefs de ses chariots et de sa cavalerie.

 22 But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no bondmen: but they were men of war, and his servants, and his princes, and his captains, and rulers of his chariots, and his horsemen.

23 Il y avait les chefs des officiers qui étaient établis sur l’ouvrage de Salomon, cinq cent cinquante, lesquels avaient autorité sur le peuple qui faisait l’ouvrage.

 23 These were the chief of the officers that were over Solomon’s work, five hundred and fifty, which bare rule over the people that wrought in the work.

24 Mais la fille de Pharaon monta de la cité de David dans sa maison que Salomon lui avait bâtie, alors il bâtit Millo.

 24 ¶ But Pharaoh’s daughter came up out of the city of David unto her house which Solomon had built for her: then did he build Millo.

25 Et Salomon offrait, trois fois l’an, des offrandes consumées et des offrandes de paix sur l’autel qu’il avait construit au SEIGNEUR, et il brûlait l’encens sur l’autel qui était devant le SEIGNEUR. Ainsi il acheva la maison.

 25 ¶ And three times in a year did Solomon offer burnt offerings and peace offerings upon the altar which he built unto the LORD, and he burnt incense upon the altar that was before the LORD. So he finished the house.

26 Et le roi Salomon équipa une flotte de bateaux à Eziongeber, qui est près d’Eloth, sur le rivage de la mer Rouge, dans le pays d’Edom.

 26 ¶ And king Solomon made a navy of ships in Eziongeber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red sea, in the land of Edom.

27 Et Hiram envoya sur la flotte ses serviteurs, des matelots qui avaient connaissance de la mer, avec les serviteurs de Salomon.

 27 And Hiram sent in the navy his servants, shipmen that had knowledge of the sea, with the servants of Solomon.

28 Et ils arrivèrent à Ophir et y prirent de l’or, quatre cent vingt talents, et l’apportèrent au roi Salomon.

 28 And they came to Ophir, and fetched from thence gold, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to king Solomon.
