1 ¶ Puis Salomon assembla les anciens d’Israël, et tous les responsables des tribus, les chefs des pères des enfants d’Israël, auprès du roi à Jérusalem, afin qu’ils puissent transporter l’arche de l’alliance du SEIGNEUR, de la ville de David, qui est Zion.

 1 Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

2 Et tous les hommes d’Israël s’assemblèrent vers le roi Salomon, à la fête, au mois d’Ethanim, qui est le septième mois.

 2 And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.

3 Et tous les anciens d’Israël vinrent, et les prêtres portèrent l’arche.

 3 And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.

4 Et ils firent monter l’arche du SEIGNEUR et le tabernacle de la congrégation, et tous les saints ustensiles qui étaient dans le tabernacle ; les prêtres, dis-je, et les Lévites les montèrent.

 4 And they brought up the ark of the LORD, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring up.

5 Et le roi Salomon et toute la congrégation d’Israël, qui avait été assemblée auprès de lui, était avec lui devant l’arche, sacrifiant moutons et bœufs en si grand nombre qu’on ne pouvait ni le raconter, ni le compter.

 5 And king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled unto him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude.

6 Et les prêtres portèrent l’arche de l’alliance du SEIGNEUR en son lieu, dans l’oracle de la maison, dans le lieu très-saint, à savoir sous les ailes des chérubins.

 6 And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims.

7 Car les chérubins étendaient leurs deux ailes sur l’endroit de l’arche, et les chérubins couvraient l’arche et ses barres par-dessus.

 7 For the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.

8 Et ils retirèrent les barres, de sorte que les bouts des barres se voyaient du lieu saint, sur le devant de l’oracle ; mais ils ne se voyaient pas au dehors ; et elles sont là jusqu’à ce jour.

 8 And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy place before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day.

9 Il n’y avait rien dans l’arche¸ sauf les deux tables de pierre que Moïse y plaça à Horeb, quand le SEIGNEUR fit une alliance avec les enfants d’Israël, lorsqu’ils sortirent du pays d’Égypte.

 9 There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

10 Et il arriva que, lorsque les prêtres sortaient du lieu saint, le nuage remplissait la maison du SEIGNEUR ;

 10 And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD,

11 Ainsi les prêtres ne pouvaient pas s’y tenir pour faire le service, à cause du nuage ; car la gloire du SEIGNEUR remplissait la maison du SEIGNEUR.

 11 So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.

12 ¶ Alors Salomon parla : Le SEIGNEUR a dit qu’il demeurerait dans l’obscurité profonde.

 12 ¶ Then spake Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.

13 Je t’ai toutefois bâti une maison pour y demeurer, un lieu fixe afin que tu y demeures à toujours.

 13 I have surely built thee an house to dwell in, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever.

14 Et le roi, tourna son visage, et bénit toute la congrégation d’Israël ; (et toute la congrégation d’Israël se tenait debout).

 14 And the king turned his face about, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: (and all the congregation of Israel stood;)

15 Et il dit : Béni soit le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël, qui a parlé de sa bouche à David mon père, et de sa main, l’a accompli, disant :

 15 And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,

16 Depuis le jour que j’ai fait sortir d’Égypte mon peuple Israël, je n’ai choisi aucune ville d’entre toutes les tribus d’Israël pour y bâtir une maison afin que mon nom puisse y être ; mais j’ai choisi David, pour qu’il est charge sur mon peuple Israël.

 16 Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.

17 Et David, mon père avait au cœur de bâtir une maison au nom du SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël.

 17 And it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

18 Et le SEIGNEUR dit à David mon père : Puisque tu as eu au cœur de bâtir une maison à mon nom, tu as bien fait d’avoir eu cela au cœur.

 18 And the LORD said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an house unto my name, thou didst well that it was in thine heart.

19 Néanmoins, tu ne bâtiras pas la maison ; mais ton fils, qui sortira de tes reins, lui, bâtira la maison à mon nom.

 19 Nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house unto my name.

20 Et le SEIGNEUR a accompli la parole qu’il avait prononcée ; et je me suis levé à la place de David, mon père, et je suis assis sur le trône d’Israël, comme l’avait promis le SEIGNEUR, et j’ai bâti une maison pour le nom du SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël.

 20 And the LORD hath performed his word that he spake, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.

21 Et j’y ai établi un lieu pour l’arche, dans laquelle est l’alliance du SEIGNEUR, laquelle il fit avec nos pères quand il les fit sortir du pays d’Égypte.

 21 And I have set there a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

22 ¶ Et Salomon se tint devant l’autel du SEIGNEUR, en présence de toute la congrégation d’Israël, et étendit ses mains vers le ciel,

 22 ¶ And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven:

23 Il dit : Ô SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël, il n’y a pas de Dieu semblable à toi, dans le ciel en haut, ni sur la terre en bas, qui gardes l’alliance et la miséricorde envers tes serviteurs qui marchent devant toi de tout leur cœur,

 23 And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart:

24 Qui as gardé envers ton serviteur David, mon père, ce que tu lui avais promis tu as parlé aussi de ta bouche, et l’as accompli de ta main, comme il paraît aujourd’hui.

 24 Who hast kept with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him: thou spakest also with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day.

25 Maintenant donc, SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël, garde envers ton serviteur David, mon père, ce que tu lui as promis, disant : Il ne te manquera pas devant moi un homme assis sur le trône d’Israël, du moment que tes enfants prennent garde à leur chemin, pour marcher devant moi comme tu as marché devant moi.

 25 Therefore now, LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.

26 Et maintenant, ô Dieu d’Israël, je te prie, que ta parole, laquelle tu as prononcée à ton serviteur David, mon père, soit ratifiée.

 26 And now, O God of Israel, let thy word, I pray thee, be verified, which thou spakest unto thy servant David my father.

27 Mais Dieu demeurerait-il effectivement sur la terre ? Voici, le ciel, et le ciel des cieux, ne peut te contenir ; combien moins cette maison que j’ai bâtie ?

 27 But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?

28 Toutefois, ô SEIGNEUR, mon Dieu, aie égard à la prière de ton serviteur et à sa supplication, pour écouter le cri et la prière que ton serviteur prie devant toi aujourd’hui.

 28 Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee to day:

29 Que tes yeux puissent être ouverts, jour et nuit, vers cette maison, à savoir, vers le lieu dont tu as dit : Mon nom sera là afin que tu puisses écouter la prière que ton serviteur fera vers ce lieu.

 29 That thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.

30 Et écoute la supplication de ton serviteur et de ton peuple Israël, quand ils prieront vers ce lieu ; et toi entends du ciel, du lieu de ta demeure ; et quand tu entends, pardonne.

 30 And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive.

31 Si un homme offense son voisin, et qu’un serment soit imposé sur lui pour le faire jurer, et que le serment vienne devant ton autel, dans cette maison ;

 31 ¶ If any man trespass against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear, and the oath come before thine altar in this house:

32 Alors, toi, du ciel, entends, et agis, et juge tes serviteurs, en condamnant le méchant, pour amener sa conduite sur sa tête, et en justifiant le droit et lui donner selon sa rectitude.

 32 Then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.

33 Quand ton peuple Israël sera battu devant l’ennemi, parce qu’ils auront péché contre toi, et s’ils se tournent vers toi de nouveau, et confessent ton nom, et te prient et te font des supplications dans cette maison ;

 33 ¶ When thy people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and confess thy name, and pray, and make supplication unto thee in this house:

34 Alors toi, entends du ciel, et pardonne le péché de ton peuple Israël, et ramène-les dans la terre que tu as donnée à leurs pères.

 34 Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest unto their fathers.

35 Quand le ciel sera fermé et qu’il n’y aura pas de pluie, parce qu’ils auront péché contre toi, s’ils prient vers ce lieu, et confessent ton nom, et se détournent de leurs péchés, parce que tu les auras affligés

 35 ¶ When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them:

36 Alors toi, entends du ciel, et pardonne le péché de tes serviteurs et de ton peuple Israël, afin que tu leur enseignes le bon chemin par lequel ils doivent marcher ; et donne la pluie sur ta terre que tu as donnée à ton peuple en héritage.

 36 Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.

37 S’il y a dans le pays famine, s’il y a pestilence, sécheresse, rouille, locustes ou s’il y a des chenilles ; si leur ennemi les assiège dans le pays de leurs villes, quelque plaie, quelque maladie, il y aura ;

 37 ¶ If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, or if there be caterpiller; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness there be;

38 Quelque prière, et quelque supplication que ce soit, faite par un homme quelconque ou de tout ton peuple Israël, que chaque homme reconnaîtra la plaie de son cœur, et étendra ses mains vers cette maison ;

 38 What prayer and supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:

39 Alors toi entends du ciel, du lieu de ta demeure ; et pardonne, et agis, et donne à chacun selon tous ses chemins, toi qui connais son cœur ; (car toi, à savoir, toi seul, tu connais le cœur de tous les enfants des hommes) ;

 39 Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;)

40 Afin qu’ils puissent te craindre tous les jours qu’ils vivront sur la terre que tu as donnée à nos pères.

 40 That they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.

41 De plus, quant à l’étranger, qui ne sera pas de ton peuple Israël, mais qui viendra d’un pays éloigné pour l’amour de ton nom,

 41 Moreover concerning a stranger, that is not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy name’s sake;

42 (Car on entendra parler de ton grand nom, de ta main puissante et de ton bras étendu) ; quand il viendra prier vers cette maison ;

 42 (For they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy strong hand, and of thy stretched out arm;) when he shall come and pray toward this house;

43 Entends du ciel, du lieu de ta demeure, et agis selon tout ce que cet étranger t’aura demandé ; afin que tous les peuples de la terre puissent connaître ton nom, et te craindre, comme fait ton peuple Israël, et qu’ils puissent savoir que cette maison que j’ai bâtie, est appelée par ton nom.

 43 Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for: that all people of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have builded, is called by thy name.

44 Si ton peuple sort en guerre contre son ennemi, en quelque endroit par lequel tu l’auras envoyé, et qu’ils prient le SEIGNEUR en regardant vers la ville que tu as choisie et vers la maison que j’ai bâtie pour ton nom ;

 44 ¶ If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I have built for thy name:

45 Alors entends du ciel leur prière et leur supplication et soutiens leur cause.

 45 Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

46 S’ils pèchent contre toi (car il n’y a pas d’homme qui ne pèche), et que tu te sois courroucé contre eux, et que tu les livres à leurs ennemis, et qu’ils soient menés captifs dans le pays de l’ennemi, loin, ou près ;

 46 If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;

47 Néanmoins si dans le pays où ils auront été menés captifs, s’ils réfléchissent en eux-mêmes et se repentent, et te supplient dans le pays de ceux qui les auront emmenés captifs, disant nous avons péché, nous avons agi avec perversité, nous avons commis la malveillance ;

 47 Yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;

48 Et s’ils retournent à toi de tout leur cœur et de toute leur âme, dans le pays de leurs ennemis qui les auront emmenés captifs, et s’ils te prient en regardant vers leur pays que tu as donné à leurs pères, vers la ville que tu as choisie et vers la maison que j’ai bâtie pour ton nom ;

 48 And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:

49 Alors entends du ciel, du lieu de ta demeure, leur prière et leur supplication, et soutiens leur cause,

 49 Then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause,

50 Et pardonne ton peuple qui aura péché contre toi, et toutes leurs transgressions qu’ils auront commises contre toi, et donne-les en compassion devant ceux qui les auront emmenés captifs, afin qu’ils en aient compassion ;

 50 And forgive thy people that have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them:

51 Car ils sont ton peuple, et ton héritage, que tu as fait sortir d’Égypte, du milieu d’une fournaise de fer.

 51 For they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron:

52 Que tes yeux puissent être ouverts à la supplication de ton serviteur et à la supplication de ton peuple Israël, pour les écouter dans tout ce en quoi ils t’auront demandé.

 52 That thine eyes may be open unto the supplication of thy servant, and unto the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee.

53 Car tu les as séparés d’entre tous les peuples de la terre pour être ton héritage, comme tu l’as dit par la main de Moïse, ton serviteur, quand tu as fait sortir nos pères d’Égypte, ô Seigneur DIEU.

 53 For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD.

54 Et il arriva quand Salomon eut achevé de faire toute cette prière et cette supplication au SEIGNEUR, qu’il se leva de devant l’autel du SEIGNEUR, étant agenouillé sur ses genoux, ses mains étendues vers le ciel ;

 54 And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.

55 Et il se tint debout, et bénit à haute voix toute la congrégation d’Israël, disant :

 55 And he stood, and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying,

56 Béni soit le SEIGNEUR, qui a donné du repos à son peuple Israël, selon tout ce qu’il avait promis aucun mot n’a fait défaut de toute sa bonne promesse qu’il a promise par la main de Moïse, son serviteur.

 56 Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.

57 Que le SEIGNEUR notre Dieu soit avec nous, comme il a été avec nos pères ; qu’il ne nous laisse pas et ne nous abandonne pas ;

 57 The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us:

58 Qu’il puisse incliner nos cœurs vers lui, pour que nous marchions dans tous ses chemins et que nous gardions ses commandements, et ses statuts, et ses jugements, qu’il a commandés à nos pères.

 58 That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.

59 Et que mes paroles, par lesquelles j’ai fait supplication devant le SEIGNEUR, soient présentes au SEIGNEUR notre Dieu, jour et nuit, afin qu’il soutienne la cause de son serviteur et la cause de son peuple Israël en tout temps, si la situation le demande ;

 59 And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the LORD, be nigh unto the LORD our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require:

60 Afin que tous les peuples de la terre puissent savoir que le SEIGNEUR est Dieu, et qu’il n’y en a pas d’autre ;

 60 That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.

61 Et que votre cœur donc soit parfait envers le SEIGNEUR notre Dieu, pour marcher dans ses statuts et pour garder ses commandements, comme aujourd’hui.

 61 Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.

62 Et le roi, et tout Israël avec lui offrirent des sacrifices devant le SEIGNEUR.

 62 ¶ And the king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before the LORD.

63 Et Salomon offrit un sacrifice d’offrande de paix qu’il offrit au SEIGNEUR, vingt-deux mille bœufs et cent vingt mille moutons. Ainsi le roi et tous les enfants d’Israël firent la dédicace de la maison du SEIGNEUR.

 63 And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered unto the LORD, two and twenty thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the LORD.

64 En ce jour-là, le roi sanctifia le milieu de la cour qui était devant la maison du SEIGNEUR ; car il offrit là les offrandes consumées et les offrandes de farine, et la graisse des offrandes de paix ; parce que l’autel de cuivre qui était devant le SEIGNEUR, était trop petit pour recevoir les offrandes consumées et les offrandes de farine, et la graisse des offrandes de paix.

 64 The same day did the king hallow the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings: because the brasen altar that was before the LORD was too little to receive the burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings.

65 Et en ce temps-là, Salomon célébra la fête, et tout Israël avec lui, une grande congrégation, depuis l’entrée de Hamath jusqu’à la rivière d’Égypte, devant le SEIGNEUR notre Dieu, pendant sept jours et sept jours, c’est-à-dire, quatorze jours.

 65 And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.

66 Au huitième jour il renvoya le peuple ; et ils bénirent le roi et s’en allèrent dans leurs tentes, joyeux et heureux de tout le bien que le SEIGNEUR avait fait à David, son serviteur, et à Israël, son peuple.

 66 On the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.
