1 Et Elisha (Elisée), le prophète, appela un des enfants des prophètes et lui dit : Ceins tes reins, et prends cette boite d’huile en ta main, et va à Ramothgilead.

 1 And Elisha the prophet called one of the children of the prophets, and said unto him, Gird up thy loins, and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramothgilead:

2 Et quand tu y seras arrivé, cherches-y Jehu, le fils de Jehoshaphat, le fils de Nimshi ; et entre et fait-le lever du milieu de ses frères, et mène-le dans une chambre intérieure.

 2 And when thou comest thither, look out there Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi, and go in, and make him arise up from among his brethren, and carry him to an inner chamber;

3 Puis tu prendras la boite d’huile, et tu la verseras sur sa tête et tu diras : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Je t’ai oint roi sur Israël. Puis, tu ouvriras la porte, et tu t’enfuiras, et tu n’attendras pas.

 3 Then take the box of oil, and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the LORD, I have anointed thee king over Israel. Then open the door, and flee, and tarry not.

4 ¶ Ainsi le jeune homme, c’est-à-dire, le jeune homme le prophète, s’en alla à Ramothgilead.

 4 ¶ So the young man, even the young man the prophet, went to Ramothgilead.

5 Et quand il arriva, voici, les capitaines de l’armée étaient assis ; et il dit : J’ai à te parler, ô capitaine. Et Jehu dit : À qui de nous tous ? Et il dit : À toi, ô capitaine.

 5 And when he came, behold, the captains of the host were sitting; and he said, I have an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, Unto which of all us? And he said, To thee, O captain.

6 Et il se leva et entra dans la maison ; et le jeune homme versa l’huile sur sa tête, et lui dit : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR Dieu d’Israël : Je t’ai oint roi sur le peuple du SEIGNEUR, c’est-à-dire sur Israël.

 6 And he arose, and went into the house; and he poured the oil on his head, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I have anointed thee king over the people of the LORD, even over Israel.

7 Et tu frapperas la maison d’Ahab, ton maître, afin que je puisse venger le sang de mes serviteurs les prophètes, et le sang de tous les serviteurs du SEIGNEUR, de la main de Jezebel (Jézabel).

 7 And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of Jezebel.

8 Car toute la maison d’Ahab périra ; et je retrancherai à Ahab tout homme qui urine contre le mur, ainsi que celui qui est sous les verrous et abandonné en Israël ;

 8 For the whole house of Ahab shall perish: and I will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel:

9 Et je rendrai la maison d’Ahab semblable à la maison de Jeroboam, le fils de Nebat, et semblable à la maison de Baasha, le fils d’Ahijah.

 9 And I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah:

10 Et les chiens mangeront aussi Jezebel (Jézabel) dans la parcelle de Jezreel, et il n’y aura personne pour l’enterrer. Et il ouvrit la porte, et s’enfuit.

 10 And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. And he opened the door, and fled.

11 ¶ Alors Jehu sortit vers les serviteurs de son seigneur, et l’un d’eux lui dit : Tout va- bien ? Pourquoi cet individu fou est-il venu vers toi ? Et il leur répondit : Vous connaissez l’homme et sa conversation.

 11 ¶ Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and one said unto him, Is all well? wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man, and his communication.

12 Et ils dirent : C’est faux raconte-nous-le maintenant. Et il dit : Il m’a parlé de cela et de cela, disant : Ainsi dit le SEIGNEUR : Je t’ai oint roi sur Israël.

 12 And they said, It is false; tell us now. And he said, Thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith the LORD, I have anointed thee king over Israel.

13 Puis ils se hâtèrent, et prirent chacun son vêtement, et les mirent sous lui en haut des marches, et sonnèrent de la trompette, disant : Jehu est roi.

 13 Then they hasted, and took every man his garment, and put it under him on the top of the stairs, and blew with trumpets, saying, Jehu is king.

14 Ainsi Jehu, le fils de Jehoshaphat, fils de Nimshi, conspira contre Joram. (Or Joram gardait Ramothgilead, lui et tout Israël, à cause de Hazael, roi de Syrie.

 14 So Jehu the son of Jehoshaphat the son of Nimshi conspired against Joram. (Now Joram had kept Ramothgilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazael king of Syria.

15 Et le roi Joram était revenu se faire guérir à Jezreel des blessures que les Syriens lui avaient faites, quand il combattait contre Hazael, roi de Syrie). Et Jehu dit : Si c’est votre pensée, ne laissez personne sortir ni s’échapper de la ville pour aller le raconter à Jezreel.

 15 But king Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, If it be your minds, then let none go forth nor escape out of the city to go to tell it in Jezreel.

16 Ainsi Jehu monta dans un chariot, et alla à Jezreel, car Joram y était alité. Et Ahaziah, roi de Judah (Juda), était descendu pour voir Joram.

 16 So Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel; for Joram lay there. And Ahaziah king of Judah was come down to see Joram.

17 Et il y avait une sentinelle sur la tour à Jezreel, et il aperçut la compagnie de Jehu, et dit : Je vois une compagnie. Et Joram dit : Prends un cavalier, et envoie-le à leur rencontre, et qu’il dise Est-ce paix ?

 17 And there stood a watchman on the tower in Jezreel, and he spied the company of Jehu as he came, and said, I see a company. And Joram said, Take an horseman, and send to meet them, and let him say, Is it peace?

18 Et le cavalier alla à sa rencontre, et dit : Ainsi dit le roi : Est-ce paix ? Et Jehu dit : Qu’as-tu à faire de la paix ? Tourne-toi derrière moi. Et la sentinelle le rapporta, disant : Le messager est allé jusqu’à eux, mais il ne revient pas.

 18 So there went one on horseback to meet him, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu said, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying, The messenger came to them, but he cometh not again.

19 Et on envoya un second cavalier, qui vint à eux et dit : Ainsi dit le roi : Est-ce paix ? Et Jehu répondit : Qu’as-tu à faire de la paix ? Tourne-toi derrière moi.

 19 Then he sent out a second on horseback, which came to them, and said, Thus saith the king, Is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turn thee behind me.

20 Et la sentinelle le rapporta, disant : Il est allé jusqu’à eux, et ne revient pas ; et le train est comme le train de Jehu, le fils de Nimshi ; car il mène avec furie.

 20 And the watchman told, saying, He came even unto them, and cometh not again: and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi; for he driveth furiously.

21 Et Joram : Qu’on attelle. Et on attela son chariot. Et Joram, roi d’Israël, et Ahaziah, roi de Judah (Juda) sortirent, chacun dans son chariot, et ils allèrent vers Jehu, et le rencontrèrent dans la parcelle de Naboth, le Jezreelite.

 21 And Joram said, Make ready. And his chariot was made ready. And Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out against Jehu, and met him in the portion of Naboth the Jezreelite.

22 Et il arriva que, quand Joram vit Jehu, il dit : Est-ce paix, Jehu ? Et il répondit : Quelle paix, tant que les prostitutions de Jezebel (Jézabel), ta mère, et ses sorcelleries sont en si grand nombre ?

 22 And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?

23 Et Joram tourna ses mains et s’enfuit, et dit à Ahaziah : Il y a trahison, ô Ahaziah.

 23 And Joram turned his hands, and fled, and said to Ahaziah, There is treachery, O Ahaziah.

24 Et Jehu tendit un arc de toute sa vigueur, et frappa Joram entre ses bras, et la flèche sortit au travers de son cœur, et il s’affaissa dans son chariot.

 24 And Jehu drew a bow with his full strength, and smote Jehoram between his arms, and the arrow went out at his heart, and he sunk down in his chariot.

25 Et Jehu dit à Bidkar, son capitaine : Prends-le, et jette-le dans la parcelle du champ de Naboth, le Jezreelite car souviens-toi que, lorsque nous étions à cheval, moi et toi, l’un auprès de l’autre, à la suite d’Ahab, son père, le SEIGNEUR prononça cette charge contre lui

 25 Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, Take up, and cast him in the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite: for remember how that, when I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, the LORD laid this burden upon him;

26 Assurément j’ai vu hier le sang de Naboth et le sang de ses fils, dit le SEIGNEUR, et je te rendrai la pareille dans ce lopin de terre, dit le SEIGNEUR. C’est pourquoi, maintenant prends-le et jette-le dans ce lopin de terre, selon la parole du SEIGNEUR.

 26 Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth, and the blood of his sons, saith the LORD; and I will requite thee in this plat, saith the LORD. Now therefore take and cast him into the plat of ground, according to the word of the LORD.

27 ¶ Mais lorsqu’Ahaziah, le roi de Judah (Juda), vit cela, il s’enfuit par le chemin de la maison du jardin. Et Jehu le poursuivit, et dit : Frappez-le aussi dans son chariot. Et ils firent ainsi à la montée de Gur, qui est près d’Ibleam. Et il s’enfuit à Megido (Meguiddo), et y mourut.

 27 ¶ But when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. And Jehu followed after him, and said, Smite him also in the chariot. And they did so at the going up to Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to Megiddo, and died there.

28 Et ses serviteurs le transportèrent sur un chariot à Jérusalem et l’enterrèrent dans son sépulcre avec ses pères, dans la cité de David.

 28 And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David.

29 Et en la onzième année de Joram, le fils d’Ahab, Ahaziah avait commencé à régner sur Judah (Juda).

 29 And in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to reign over Judah.

30 Et quand Jehu vint à Jezreel, Jezebel (Jézabel) l’apprit, et elle peint son visage, et orna sa tête, et regarda par la fenêtre.

 30 ¶ And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window.

31 Et comme Jehu entrait dans la porte, elle dit : Zimri, a-t-il paix, qui tua son maître ?

 31 And as Jehu entered in at the gate, she said, Had Zimri peace, who slew his master?

32 Et il leva son visage vers la fenêtre et dit : Qui est de mon côté ? qui ? Et deux ou trois eunuques se penchèrent vers lui.

 32 And he lifted up his face to the window, and said, Who is on my side? who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs.

33 Et il dit : Jetez-la en bas. Et ils la jetèrent, et il rejaillit de son sang contre le mur et contre les chevaux ; et il la foula aux pieds.

 33 And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.

34 Et quand il entra, il mangea et but, et dit : Allez voir maintenant cette femme maudite, et enterrez-la ; car elle est une fille de roi.

 34 And when he was come in, he did eat and drink, and said, Go, see now this cursed woman, and bury her: for she is a king’s daughter.

35 Et ils allèrent pour l’enterrer ; mais ils ne trouvèrent rien d’elle que le crâne, les pieds et les paumes de ses mains.

 35 And they went to bury her: but they found no more of her than the skull, and the feet, and the palms of her hands.

36 C’est pourquoi, ils revinrent, et le lui rapportèrent. Et il dit : C’est la parole du SEIGNEUR, laquelle il a prononcée par son serviteur Elijah, le Tishbite, disant : Dans la parcelle de Jezreel les chiens mangeront la chair de Jezebel (Jézabel) ;

 36 Wherefore they came again, and told him. And he said, This is the word of the LORD, which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel:

37 Et le cadavre de Jezebel (Jézabel) sera comme des excréments sur la surface du champ dans la parcelle de Jezreel, de sorte qu’on ne dira pas. C’est ici Jezebel (Jézabel).

 37 And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel; so that they shall not say, This is Jezebel.
