1 Puis Elisha (Elisée) parla à la femme au fils de laquelle il avait rendu la vie, disant : Lève-toi et va-t’en, toi et ta famille, et où tu pourras séjourner car le SEIGNEUR a appelé la famine ; et même elle viendra sur le pays pendant sept ans.

 1 Then spake Elisha unto the woman, whose son he had restored to life, saying, Arise, and go thou and thine household, and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn: for the LORD hath called for a famine; and it shall also come upon the land seven years.

2 Et la femme se leva, et fit selon la parole de l’homme de Dieu, et elle s’en alla avec sa famille, et séjourna dans le pays des Philistins sept ans.

 2 And the woman arose, and did after the saying of the man of God: and she went with her household, and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years.

3 Et il arriva au bout des sept ans, que la femme revint du pays des Philistins, et elle sortit pour s’enquérir auprès du roi, au sujet de sa maison et de ses terres.

 3 And it came to pass at the seven years’ end, that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines: and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land.

4 Et le roi parlait à Gehazi, le serviteur de l’homme de Dieu, disant : Raconte-moi, je te prie, toutes les grandes choses qu’Elisha (Elisée) a faites.

 4 And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God, saying, Tell me, I pray thee, all the great things that Elisha hath done.

5 Et il arriva que, comme il racontait au roi comment il avait rendu la vie à un mort, voici, que la femme au fils de laquelle il avait rendu la vie, vint s’enquérir auprès du roi, au sujet de sa maison et de ses terres. Et Gehazi dit : Mon seigneur, ô roi, c’est ici la femme, et c’est ici son fils à qui Elisha (Elisée) a rendu la vie.

 5 And it came to pass, as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life, that, behold, the woman, whose son he had restored to life, cried to the king for her house and for her land. And Gehazi said, My lord, O king, this is the woman, and this is her son, whom Elisha restored to life.

6 Et lorsque le roi interrogea la femme, elle lui raconta le fait. Alors le roi lui assigna un certain officier, disant : Rends-lui tout ce qui lui appartenait, et tous les revenus de ses champs, depuis le jour où elle a quitté le pays jusqu’à maintenant.

 6 And when the king asked the woman, she told him. So the king appointed unto her a certain officer, saying, Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now.

7 ¶ Et Elisha (Elisée) alla à Damas ; et Benhadad, le roi de Syrie, était malade, et on le lui rapporta, disant : L’homme de Dieu est venu jusqu’ici.

 7 ¶ And Elisha came to Damascus; and Benhadad the king of Syria was sick; and it was told him, saying, The man of God is come hither.

8 Et le roi dit à Hazael : Prends en ta main un présent, et va à la rencontre de l’homme de Dieu, et par lui, enquiers-toi du SEIGNEUR, disant : Me rétablirai-je de cette maladie ?

 8 And the king said unto Hazael, Take a present in thine hand, and go, meet the man of God, and enquire of the LORD by him, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

9 Et Hazael alla à sa rencontre, et prit avec lui un présent, savoir de tout le meilleur de Damas, la charge de quarante chameaux ; et il vint et se tint devant lui et dit : Ton fils Benhadad, roi de Syrie, m’a envoyé vers toi, disant : Me rétablirai-je de cette maladie ?

 9 So Hazael went to meet him, and took a present with him, even of every good thing of Damascus, forty camels’ burden, and came and stood before him, and said, Thy son Benhadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee, saying, Shall I recover of this disease?

10 Et Elisha (Elisée) lui dit : Va, dis-lui : Certainement, tu en relèveras, toutefois, le SEIGNEUR m’a montré qu’il mourra assurément.

 10 And Elisha said unto him, Go, say unto him, Thou mayest certainly recover: howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die.

11 Et son visage s’immobilisa fixement, jusqu’à ce qu’il en eut honte ; et l’homme de Dieu pleura.

 11 And he settled his countenance stedfastly, until he was ashamed: and the man of God wept.

12 Et Hazael dit : Pourquoi mon seigneur pleure-t-il ? Et il répondit : Parce que je sais le mal que tu feras aux enfants d’Israël tu mettras le feu à leurs places fortes, tu tueras avec l’épée leurs jeunes hommes, et tu écraseras leurs petits enfants, et tu éventreras leurs femmes enceintes.

 12 And Hazael said, Why weepeth my lord? And he answered, Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel: their strong holds wilt thou set on fire, and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword, and wilt dash their children, and rip up their women with child.

13 Et Hazael dit : Mais quoi, ton serviteur est-il un chien, pour qu’il fasse cette grande chose ? Et Elisha (Elisée) répondit : Le Seigneur m’a montré que tu seras roi sur la Syrie.

 13 And Hazael said, But what, is thy servant a dog, that he should do this great thing? And Elisha answered, The LORD hath shewed me that thou shalt be king over Syria.

14 Alors il quitta Elisha (Elisée) et vint vers son maître qui lui dit : Que t’a dit Elisha (Elisée) ? Et il répondit : Il m’a dit, que certainement tu te rétabliras.

 14 So he departed from Elisha, and came to his master; who said to him, What said Elisha to thee? And he answered, He told me that thou shouldest surely recover.

15 Et il arriva que, le lendemain, il prit un drap épais, et le plongea dans l’eau, et l’étendit sur le visage du roie, si bien qu’il mourut ; et Hazael régna à sa place.

 15 And it came to pass on the morrow, that he took a thick cloth, and dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, so that he died: and Hazael reigned in his stead.

16 ¶ Et en la cinquième année de Joram, le fils d’Ahab, roi d’Israël Jehoshaphat étant alors roi de Judah (Juda), Joram, le fils de Jehoshaphat, roi de Judah (Juda), commença à régner.

 16 ¶ And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel, Jehoshaphat being then king of Judah, Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah began to reign.

17 Il était âgé de trente-deux ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem.

 17 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

18 Et il marcha dans le chemin des rois d’Israël, comme avait fait la maison d’Ahab ; car la fille d’Ahab était sa femme ; et il fit ce qui est mal à la vue du SEIGNEUR.

 18 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did the house of Ahab: for the daughter of Ahab was his wife: and he did evil in the sight of the LORD.

19 Toutefois le SEIGNEUR ne voulut pas détruire Judah (Juda), à cause de David, son serviteur ; comme il lui avait promis de toujours lui donner une lampe, ainsi qu’à ses enfants.

 19 Yet the LORD would not destroy Judah for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give him alway a light, and to his children.

20 ¶ En ses jours Edom se révolta de dessous la main de Judah (Juda), et ils établirent un roi sur eux.

 20 ¶ In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.

21 Et Joram passa à Zair, et tous ses chariots avec lui ; et, il se leva de nuit, et frappa les Edomites qui l’encerclaient et les capitaines des chariots ; et le peuple s’enfuit dans ses tentes.

 21 So Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots with him: and he rose by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him about, and the captains of the chariots: and the people fled into their tents.

22 Néanmoins Edom se révolta de dessous la main de Judah (Juda) jusqu’à ce jour. Puis Libnah se révolta en ce même temps.

 22 Yet Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time.

23 Et le reste des actes de Joram, et tout ce qu’il a fait, ne sont-ils pas écrits dans le livre des chroniques des rois de Judah (Juda) ?

 23 And the rest of the acts of Joram, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

24 Et Joram s’endormit avec ses pères, et fut enterré avec ses pères dans la cité de David ; et Ahaziah, son fils, régna à sa place.

 24 And Joram slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead.

25 ¶ En la douzième année de Joram, le fils d’Ahab, roi d’Israël, Ahaziah, le fils de Joram, roi de Judah (Juda), commença à régner.

 25 ¶ In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel did Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah begin to reign.

26 Ahaziah était âgé de vingt-deux ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna un an à Jérusalem. Et le nom de sa mère était Athalia (Athalie), la fille d’Omri, roi d’Israël.

 26 Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

27 Et il marcha dans le chemin de la maison d’Ahab et fit ce qui est mal à la vue du SEIGNEUR, comme fit la maison d’Ahab ; car il était gendre de la maison d’Ahab.

 27 And he walked in the way of the house of Ahab, and did evil in the sight of the LORD, as did the house of Ahab: for he was the son in law of the house of Ahab.

28 ¶ Et il alla avec Joram, le fils d’Ahab, à la guerre contre Hazael, roi de Syrie, à Ramothgilead ; et les Syriens blessèrent Joram.

 28 ¶ And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to the war against Hazael king of Syria in Ramothgilead; and the Syrians wounded Joram.

29 Et le roi Joram s’en retourna, pour se faire guérir à Jezreel des blessures que les Syriens lui avaient faites à Ramah, quand il combattait contre Hazael, roi de Syrie. Et Ahaziah, le fils de Joram, roi de Judah (Juda), descendit pour voir Joram, le fils d’Ahab, à Jezreel, parce qu’il était malade.

 29 And king Joram went back to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was sick.
